We have had a similar experience. If anyone files a class action suit, we would love to be included. Pam and Chris Lincoln

People do not understand that this is a time share. When you buy the membership to American Campgrounds you still have to pay dues whether you use it or not. I have owned my for about 10 years. We used it a lot at the beginning but have not in the last two years. We still own the time share whether we like it or not. It is just like any other time share you buy.

I am with the rest of you here. No negative stars to add. However I am connected with Federal Trade Commission and Attorney General and we may be able to do a class Action law suit if there are enough of us. American camp ground has not sent me a statement since 2011 after which my spouse and I declined an upgrade, they stated we were no longer members. My spouse is now deceased and it's been a hard couple years, working on getting my credit in order and discovered that American Campground has been reporting me to Conrad credit since 2011. My address has never changed nor has my email or phone number. Conrad credit not able to help me and I cannot get anyone from American camp ground to speak to me. American camp ground membership is supposed to be honored by Thousand Trails and Encore and I camp at organizations through both and why they try to look up my American Campground Membership they cannot find that I exist so I cannot use it and assume just like they told me in 2011 that it was cancelled. Conrad credit is at least telling me they are trying to collect for 1400 which is not the end of the world and I would pay it if I knew the credit reporting would stop, but no one from American camp grounds will even talk to me. I have sent certified letters with no response. I can give you all attorney general info and Federal trade Commission info . Anyone Stay away from this fraudulant organization. My contact is srwhittredge@yahoo.com

Sorry no negative stars to offer...We were fast talked into a membership by Vinni and the following spring things changed, instead of two free golf passes to over 300 resorts it was BOGO at a few dozen. Maintenance fees and coast to coast travel upgrade never explained just shuffled in the paperwork. CC billing expired and they send off to their watchdog CONRAD who strong arm and ruin your credit as well as continue to take the fees.Have never stayed a day or used a thing in the place but have about 1200 left to pay off and pretty much out my 4k plus maintenance fees... all the talk about family and life time BS.. can only pray to God we get a class action lawsuit and get all the money back

Tom H. I am in this same situation and it's now October 2015. Did you get with the Attorney General? What was the outcome? They claim I owe them $749 in maintenance fees and won't take payments and won't negotiate anything less than $450 but want that paid in full or 2 payments. My contract doesn't have maintenance fees in it either and I unwittingly paid them until I was laid off and couldn't afford them any more.

We have been members since before the pool and putt putt and was a great experience (different owners of course).Since then we rarely go, for all the same reasons as the others. But if u keep to your self it's still a good time. The ponds and beach are a joke between the bird crap and weeds it sucks. Can't bring in ur own wood and they sell crap wood for way too much..I would give my membership away, but who ever gets it will have dues till they die.I've been a member for almost 30 years, and where else can u camp for free (except for dues)...

In response to Tom H. and others on here, my husband and I feel your anger and frustration as we have been through the same exact scenario it was as if i were reading a letter I had just wrote. Your letter is exactly our situation along with many others I'm sure. Tom we would like to know what you found out from the attorney general's office? If you could contact us we would appreciate it 586-431-1108 (Ken)

American Campgrounds
We have been members of American Campgrounds Inc. for many years and have not used our membership for the last 10+ years. We basically were lured back to our home park at Kalamazoo the summer of 2014 with the false marketing call. We were told that it may be possible for us to sell back our membership and we would need to come in for an appointment. We did make an appointment, my husband hand to leave work a few hours early to go to this appointment. As Donna E. stated on 10/24/2014, it was all a ruse to once again get us there for a sales pitch for “upgrading” our membership and get additional money from us. The people hosting the appointment "Knew nothing" about buying back our membership! We have nearly 8- 9k into this membership and various upgrades through the first years when our kids were young and we were using it. We made it very clear at this appointment that we are done with American Campgrounds and that we are against the lies they use to get you to their appointments for another sales pitch. We stopped paying our $70.00 quarterly "maintenance fees" after this appointment, our last payment was July 2014. Now their collection agency "Conrad Acceptance Corp. Collections" has threatened to "report" the nonpayment of maintenance fees so it will show on our credit report and will continue to do so every year until we pay up. However they did say if you pay the $280.00 plus a collection fee of $92.63 right now we can dissolve your contract, it is a onetime thing and you would have to do it "now". We read over our contract and find nothing about having to pay a "maintenance fee" for this membership. We do not believe this is legal and we are going to the Attorney General with this issue.

Just a moment...
