Big Guy Moving
We hired Big Guy Moving for 2 hours to help my husband move my daughter within the city. My one complaint is that when I originally tried to contact them to set up an appointment (since we'd purchased the two hours through a Groupon offer) it took forever for them to call me back. I called and got a recorded message twice over two weeks and finally I found an e-mail address for them and wrote them. I did get a call at that point. Later, I wanted to verify everything because the appointment was made two months in advance and I had a similar situation. This all made me a little nervous BUT:The experience was totally positive. The two movers were there promptly at 8 and in such great shape that moving furniture to a third floor apartment was not a problem at all. They were polite and friendly, efficient and accomodating. They didn't just pile things in the door but wanted to place it correctly. They were done early! Thank goodness we hired them. What could have been a real headache is just another check in the box of our "To Do" list. My daughter took their business card and are going to post it at her work. We'd recommend them to anyone just be patient when you call them initially (which I'm not!)

Smooth Moves
I am stationed in Afghanistan and recently moved from Venice, Fl to Jacksonville and had to orchestrate my move from 10,000 miles away and I gotta tell you; Smooth-Moves made my life so easy, I can't begin to tell you. Nothing was packed at the old place and my car was sitting in the driveway; but smooth-moves not only 'happily' and 'professionally' packed all my belongings; the even drove my car the 280 miles to the new place at no extra charge. WHO DOES THAT? When I asked them about the possibility of moving the car, I was expecting that I would pay extra; but their reply to me was, 'we're going that way anyway'. I repeat, WHO DOES THAT. I was in the customer service industry for 20 years and have rarely seen the level of service I received from everyone at Smooth-Moves. and oh yea--the price they quoted me as an estimate, was the exact price charged; which by the way--was a great price. I can't say enough about this 'family owned' company. It exemplifies what American small business was built on: personal service with the highest customer service. Thank you Smooth-Moves. Peter

T & E Movers
Turk and his professional & experienced crew who have been doing this for 15+ years are probably the best movers Jacksonville. They moved our stuff on the southside Jacksonville to our new home in Bartram area in less than 2 hours. They are expert movers who know how to move heavy furniture and bedding. I felt that my personal items were going to be moved and delivered without a single damage when they were preparing for the move. They had to break down some furniture as it was too big to fit through the door, and was able to put it all back in one piece without missing any bolts or screws. Truly, professionals in all aspect of their job and they make sure it's done right the first time. Might I add, I was shocked at the price as it was definitely affordable movers who over delivered on their service. If you're looking for a moving company in Jacksonville to move your stuff without fear of damage, hire Turk and his guys at T & E Movers, you won't regret it. Would hire again! Thanks!

B & B Movers
We recently moved from a two story townhouse to an apartment and were quoted by other companies upwards of $600 for the move across town. I decided to go weigh b&b movers due to the owner, Sam's friendly nature on they phone and the fact that they charge a flat rate fee, no extra or hidden charges, what you are quoted is what you pay. They did not charge an extra fee for the second story or anything. They called and asked if they could come 30 minutes before the scheduled time, which was fine. They got right to work moving boxes and furniture and had the whole house in the truck in under an hour. They were just as fast unloading and reassembling and even fixed a dresser for us that had been damaged in a previous move! These guys went above and beyond and the woke move wad over and done in under three hours. HIGHLY recommend that you call B&B for any moving needs that you have

Smooth Moves
Dear Smooth Moves,I want to thank you for your helpfulness and efficiency in assisting me with moving my piano. Another moving company made two unsuccessful attempts to carry my baby grand piano up three flights of stairs into my condominium. I was ready to give up but a friend of mine recommended that I call Smooth Moves and make one more try.Within thirty minutes of calling, you came over to look and measure the space and the piano. You determined that it was probably possible to accomplish this task with the right men and equipment. Two days later I had the piano sitting in my living room!I am very grateful to you and glad that I called. It is an old piano but it has been in my family for a number of years and it was wonderful to see it when I walk into my home.. Thank you for making it a reality to share live music with my friends.Sincerely, Tony

1st Choice Movers
I am an extremely detailed, organized and particular person. I also spend time doing research and getting several estimations before hiring any business. Within 15 minutes of meeting Jawad from Old Baymeadows Moving & Storage, By the time the estimation was over, and without getting any other estimations, I knew I was hiring them. Our closings turned into a nightmare and Jawad worked with us with the most patience and understanding. Never once was I made to feel pressured about timeliness. He always reassured me that I had nothing to worry about with them, and never once did they ever mention money or additional fees. Corey,Jim and Darrell were polite, funny, friendly and professional. Not one item was broken or even scratched. They truly made what is usually the most stressful part of moving, the easiest and most enjoyable! THANK YOU!

1st Choice Movers
Jawad, Mary Anne and I are in–sorta–and will spend the next couple of days getting a bit more organized prior to actually sleeping there. But, as far as the move from storage to the new place last Friday and Saturday, it could not have been better. Cory, Mike and Darrell were a great team–they clearly enjoyed working together and couldn’t have been more helpful to us. They knew what they were doing, worked hard and did us a fine job. They were a pleasure to have in our home and we would have them back in a heartbeat! The move to the new place was letter perfect–thanks to you for that– and a special thanks to Cory, Mike and Darrell. They are a real credit to your organization. Not sure if or when there will be another move in our plans but in the meantime, I will not hesitate to recommend Old Bay Meadows to friends– you all earned it.

Quick Moves of Florida
Quick Moves of Florida is one of the best moving companies I have ever dealt with. I called Joe last minute and he fit me in the very next day and had me packed, loaded, and moved within no time. The staff is very efficient, professional, and respectful on all levels. I was impressed with the extra time they took to wrap and protect my belongings to assure they didn't become broken or scratched during the move. Their rates are VERY affordable with absolutely no hidden fees. I am in the midst of using them for my second move and they have been nothing but awesome and flexible during the entire process. I can't say thank you enough. If you want a company who treats you like family and takes extra care of your belongings, Quick Moves of Florida is your company. I highly recommend them. They absolutely ROCK!!

Royal Moving And Storage
I cannot say enough nice things about this company. First of all, they agreed to move me out during an emergency flood (a move that I was not packed or prepared for). There was at least 3-4 inches of standing water. The movers not only treaded through the water for as long as it took to get my stuff out, but also helped me pack boxes. Nothing was damaged or missing and they did an excellent job. For as awful as the conditions were to work in, the price was reasonable and fair. The customer service has been outstanding. Everytime I called with a question or concern, they were polite and helpful. When there was a charge on my bill I didn't remember being quoted, they removed it with no questions asked. I would HIGHLY recommend Royal Moving and Storage to anyone- they are wonderful.

Quick Moves of Florida
Joe S. and crew are exceptional movers. He was able to provide me with a very reasonable quote to move (unbelievable cheaper than Two Men & a Truck!) and worked w/me on the price. I had called last minute to move out of state and Joe truly made it work and hassle-free just as he says on his website. Very easy to work with. All of my valuables were delivered to my storage unit (w/o me being present) in perfect condition, packed great in storage, and he communicated w/me the entire trip. They are fast, easy, dependable, affordable, and protect your valuables just as if they were theirs. I highly recommend them to anyone moving short or long distances. They were a pleasure doing business with!
Tips & Advices
Yes, it’s best to empty drawers, wardrobes and chests before a move. Items always get knocked around a bit, and doors can fly open even if they’ve been taped. In fact, more often than not, movers will want to remove the drawers from a dresser--or disassemble the wardrobe to be more space-efficient.
Yes, it is customary to tip movers, but the amount varies widely. For full-service moves, a 5 percent tip is suggested, although, for extra service, some people go up to 10 percent . For small local movers, you can give each mover $10 for a few-hour job, or $20-$40 for jobs that take longer.
A bill of lading is the legal contract for the move. It provides a detailed receipt, in addition to a contract between the client and the mover. It authorizes the mover to transport the goods from one specific point to another, and it outlines the exact scope of services, with cost breakdown for those services. It also provides an itemized list of the inventory, and carrier liability protection for each declared item. Finally, it specifies the payment arrangement. Make sure to go over your itemized list extremely carefully before finalizing the paperwork--and get a copy of the full document. A good mover will go over everything on the bill of lading with the customer.
There are several items that moving companies will not move – those items will be listed on a document as “non-allowables.” These items typically fall in three categories: perishables, sentimental/personal items, and hazardous material. Perishables are food and plants. Sentimental/personal value is up to the client to decide, but usually includes jewelry, medical and dental records, personal paperwork, valuables and collectibles. Hazardous material is the tricky category, since it includes a lot of everyday items found in the garage, garden or kitchen. For example, cleaning liquids and pesticides both are considered non-allowable by many companies. Some go so far as to disallow nail polish and batteries.
A binding estimate means that the moving company cannot charge more than the stated amount, though they can lower the final bill if the scope of the job was smaller than expected. A non-binding moving estimate is more likely to wind up costing more than expected, since the movers can increase their rates for unforeseen variables like stairs, “long carry” and materials.
