Floor Trader
If there was option for 10 stars, I would have picked 10 stars.Let’s start with the company I was going with. We set up an appointment to drive down to St Augustine to see some floor samples, and we drove 45 mins to get there. Just to find out that all of their main floor samples were not in the store because it was being shown at a local Home Improvement show. I wish they would have told us that before driving there. Either way we set up an appointment to have our floors measure. An hour before they were suppose to show up, he called me to tell me he was not able to make it, and that we needed to reschedule. That same day my wife I decided to visit The Floor Trader of Jacksonville on Beach Blvd. We didn't have an appointment. We just walked in and from the very second we walked in Scott Burton greeted us. We told him that we know that it's near their closing time but we just wanted to look. Scott said not to worry about closing time, that we should take our time and ask him any questions we have.. So we did.... Long story short, we walked out of there with the PERFECT FLOOR (Tiger Wood) and an awesome Finance deal. The installer (Justin) was at our house the following day to measure. WHAT A PROFESSIONAL GUY.. A week later his crew installed my floors... AGAIN WHAT A PROFESSIONAL group of guys.. What Justin includes in his Standard square footage price. Other companies will charge you extra for. These guys were awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Again 10 stars…. If you think you will get better service by paying extra at one of these private floor shops. THINK AGAIN… The Floor Trader of Jacksonville is much better. Thank you Scott for your EXCELLENT customer service, Justin (floor Mgr) for the financing options and thank you Justin (installer) and crew for a wonderful job.

Floor Trader
My husband and I went to several flooring stores in Jacksonville, including Lowes & Home Depot, and we found that Floor Trader had the biggest selection of hardwood floors. I was very happy to see how much they had in stock and available for us to take home right away (big plus as we were in a hurry to get new floors in). The prices are similar to every other flooring store (no more, no less). The salesperson who assisted us was extremely helpful and knowledgeable in the flooring and installation process (we installed it ourselves). The flooring was easy to put down, nice quality and looks beautiful.

Flooring America
We purchased tile, wood laminate and carpet from Flooring America. Our salesperson was Chris Langdale, who came out when scheduled, measured the rooms and gave us great ideas. There were different installers for each project; and all of them were professional and did excellent work. If you need any type of flooring, we would highly recommend this company.

Floor Trader
I recently renovated my condo and I purchased porcelain wood plank tiles and plush carpeting from The Floor Trader. I used my own installer for the tile and used their installer for the carpet. I absolutely love the finished product and am very happy with my purchase along with the customer service I received from their awesome staff!

Tips & Advices
In most states, contractors are required to have a license before taking a job. Some states also require registration. To be licensed, contractors must pass an exam and meet certain qualifications that prove he or she is a competent flooring contractor. Registration is simply a list of who will be performing a job.
The time it takes to install flooring depends on the type of flooring and the size of the room or rooms involved in the project. In one day, a typical contractor can usually install up to 2,000 square feet of carpet, 600 square feet of hardwood or laminate, or 400 square feet of tile or stone.
  • Do you have a professional license, insurance, and a business liability policy?
  • Who will work on the project?
  • Do you subcontract, and do you screen workers and have insurance policies to cover them?
  • Do you have references or examples of your work I can see?
  • Do you charge for an in-home estimate?
  • What type of flooring is best for my home in terms of architectural consistency, environmental influences (such as whether a certain type of flooring will be affected by humidity in my area), and durability?
Legally, insurance is not necessary, but it's a good idea for flooring contractors to have it. When hiring a flooring contractor, ask whether the business is insured. If it's not, consider that a red flag.
A flooring contractor should know the pros and cons of each flooring option. These might include pricing, time of installation, durability, and average lifespan of the material.
