My wife and I dined at the Corner Bistro early on Friday night. We were quickly seated and met promptly by our waiter. I ordered a drink, my wife ordered wine and we ordered Calamari at the same time as a starter. The drinks arrived promptly and we were served bread and butter. We chatted for a few minutes and both agreed that the Calamari was a little slow in coming, given we had ordered it at the same time we ordered our drinks, however, that did not diminish the dish. When the Calamari arrived it was hot, the batter crisp and the marinara sauce was superb. The added cherry peppers were a nice spicy touch. I would definitely recommend this for a tasty starter. For entrees my wife ordered Shrimp & Scallops which came with mac & cheese. I ordered the Seafood Pasta. The dishes arrived not too long after we finished our entrée. My wife’s said her order was ‘very good’ and was hot and appetizing. I did not get a taste or the shrimp or scallops, but will certainly take her word for it. I did taste the mac & cheese…it was tasty but had a smoky flavor that I did not care for. The Seafood Pasta that I got was also tasty; however it was not hot, only warm. I would have preferred to be hot. Our waiter was attentive and checked back frequently to make sure we had everything we needed and to see if we wanted an additional drink and again to offer dessert. Overall the dinner was ok, but not great. A little pricey for what you get.
What a gem! I ordered take out and was blown away. The service was top notch. I ordered a 10" deluxe pizza, house salad, and a side of lasagna. The dressing on the salad was to die for. It was a rich, creamy Italian with fresh herbs and anchovies(just a touch). The pizza was delicious and on a thin, but well made crust. The lasagna rivals my own, and I think had some ground veal in it. The sauce was wonderful and the lasagna didn't fall apart when you cut into it. I'd go back in a heartbeat, and recommend it. When you get take-out this good the stay and dine has to be better. Although I can't imagine better food!
I decided to try out the Grouper Picatta which although it wasn't on the lunch menu was still created by the chef and WOW. I have just had the best lunch ever. They started by bringing out Italian bread with herbs and oil for dipping, then a delicious antipasto salad, and then the grand finale grouper picatta!!! Amazing, and under priced, true gourmet Italiano cuisine. Props to the chef, staff, and quality atmosphere and food. I'll be back on a regular basis.
Metro has a great vibe while still maintaining a family-friendly atmosphere. ALWAYS, ALWAYS super-packed, so be prepared to wait a bit, but definitely worth it. The portions are HUGE....I've never been able to clear my plate :) You won't find "Denny's Bargain-pricing" here, but again, you'll most likely end up with a Doggie-bag. Order the Breakfast Pie (it's not a slice, but a WHOLE pie). It's bigger than your face, but so tasty!
