Jackson Pediatric Center
I chose this practice because they have both male and female providers. I was impressed with both doctors that my children saw for their annual check ups (they are teen agers). I did/do have an issue with the front desk staff. I was charged full price for an office visit for one child because our insurance deductible had not yet been met for the year. Two days later I brought my other child in and was told there was no payment due because the visit was for a physical. When questioned as to why one visit was charged full price and the other not, I was told that it was because the first child was scheduled as a new patient physical. Well the second child was also a new patient physical. Several weeks later I returned to the office asking to speak to someone in billing. I was told that billing was in a different building, so I asked for the phone number and they told me they couldn't give it to me! Excuse me? I have $100 credit on my account and you're not going to let me call billing to get that refunded to me?

Covenant Child Care Development Center
Although I have never been crazy about the location or the building, the caring staff and the professionalism of the management team surpass that of the leading child care providers in Jackson, TN. The book keeping is actually kept correctly and timely. The children are being more than just “watched”. They are being nurtured, and more importantly, they are learning. This center actually adheres to state regulations—which, I have found out through personal experience, several of the leading centers in Jackson do not. The children are fed wholesome meals, and not just whatever happens to be on sale at the Dollar General. Notices of changes in staff, menu, hours of operation, and any other incident are provided in a timely and professional manner. I only wish they were closer to my home or work.
Tips & Advices
A child should see his or her pediatrician frequently during the first few years. Once the child reaches age 3, parents should schedule a doctor's visit at least once per year. Before that, however, the American Academy of Pediatrics suggests parents arrange visits according to the following schedule:
  • 2 to 5 days old
  • 1 month old
  • 4 months old
  • 6 months old
  • 9 months old
  • 12 months old
  • 15 months old
  • 24 months old (2 years)
  • 30 months old (2.5 years)
No, parents should call 911, an emergency physician, or a pediatric emergency physician if a child suffers an acute illness or injuries. Doctors in these fields are more qualified than pediatricians to handle emergency situations.
A well-visit is a routine visit with a pediatrician to track a child's development, discuss medical or emotional concerns, and receive immunizations and medical advice.
Yes, pediatricians provide immunizations for infants and children up through 21 years.
No, pediatricians do not have to be board certified. They're only required to have a state license. However, certification indicates a dedication to studying pediatrics beyond the requirements.
