I drive over an hour to come here, and I love all the staff and their work-except one. The woman that often answers the phone-I think her name is Rachel. She has been rude and VERY combative with us, AND with my insurance (we were on a 3 way phone call and she threw my insurance woman serious attitude over a mistake SHE made.) I called to make 2 cleaning appointments-one for myself and one for my fiancé. She inquired about the second appt and when I responded with who it was for, and without even asking his name, she said "Well, he's going to have to get on the waiting list because he's a new patient." I said that he was an existing patient, She says "Well, you can't schedule his because of privacy laws-he'll have to call back and schedule his own." I say just schedule me and I'll hand the phone to him to schedule his right after. She finishes scheduling my appointment and when I asked if she wanted to speak with him, she says nevermind she booked his too. It's like pulling teeth!!!

Acahti Dental
Very pleased with Dr.Oberly, I'm extremely terrified of the dentist and this is the first time I left the dentist smiling, he wouldn't even assess my tooth until the pain was controlled, I've been to many dentist that took x-rays with tears streaming down my face telling me I need to bite the plate harder and this was the best experience I've ever had. I've also been to dentist that took an x-ray and told me there was nothing wrong with my tooth it's just sensitive and a few months later pieces of my tooth fell out, Dr. Oberly explained that his x-ray machine is more sensitive than others and can catch the smaller cavities other machines might not be able to pick up, he did not talk bad about the other dentist which I thought was very professional he just explained what probably happened. I definitely would recommend him to anyone, especially someone with high anxiety and fear of the dentist.

Manunts Marina
Dr. Manunts is wonderful. Her office is so clean, welcoming, and does not remind me of the typical doctor's office. Out of all of the dentists I have tried, Dr. Manunts is the one that has taken time to explain what she is doing, and makes sure I am comfortable with the procedures that she thinks is best for me. I had to have a root canal for a bad cavity and Dr. Manunts and her assistant that was also in the room were so calming and gentle. I remember Dr. Manunts doing the procedure in segments because she knew I was so anxious. She was willing to dedicate more time to me because I was a nervous-wreck. I was the first in my family to go see Dr. Manunts to just to try her out and now the rest of my immediate and extended family go to her too! Ithaca is so lucky to have her... as my son says, "SHE ROX!"

Manunts Marina
I tried several dentists in Ithaca before I found Dr. Manunts, and she has been such a gift, a blessing in my life. Her integrity and skill are extraordinary, and she is a deeply kind person who has helped me through several emergencies. At least twice, I've had to call her over the weekend when a front veneer broke, and on both occasions, she fixed the problem immediately rather than asking me to wait until Monday. She has repaired and remedied work by less skilled dentists, and her work is excellent. The office staff are cheerful and helpful, too. Dr. Manunts is such a caring and careful dentist -- someone you can trust. She truly will take good care of you.

Dr P's office made a mistake and never billed us for $60 that was not covered by our insurance. Next thing I know we get a notice from a collection agency. We sent a payment to Dr P's office. They refused to accept it and said we had to pay the collection agency. We pointed out that DR P's office never billed us and that we did not know we owed them any money. So after 8 years and thousands of dollars in payments to Dr P we have been unceremoniously dumped from the practice with no discussion. Quite a business model, make a billing mistake and then compound the error by rejecting a 4 good paying clients from your practice. Stay away!

The best dentist experience I ever had. I called Dr. Joe on a weekend night with a dental emergency, never having been a client of his. He not only came to the office to help me but jogged in the rain to get to there. He was able to fix my veneer issue in less than 10 minutes. I had to travel the next day due to a family medical emergency and, when I asked Dr. Piskorowski how much I owed him, he simply said to wish my family all the best and to not worry about it. He was knowledgeable, kind, and a great guy. I HIGHLY recommend him.

I have been a patient of Dr. Manunts for several years and my teeth are in great condition as a result. Among some treatments received are a crown and two fillings. Both are doing well and intact. I am very confident under Dr. Manunts care, an expert in her field. She also has a wonderful bed side manner and disposition. Her staff is wonderful too. Thank you so much!

Tips & Advices
  • If a tooth decays and the nerves or pulp (soft internal tissue which helps teeth develop) become inflamed or infected
  • If a tooth is cracked or broken and nerves are exposed
This generally depends on any specific issues you wish to address with your teeth. There are toothpastes designed to whiten teeth, fight cavities, decrease sensitivity, prevent bad breath, resist gingivitis, and those specific to children (with lower fluoride content). There are also toothpastes that offer “complete” protection by combining aspects of many of the above toothpastes.
It’s recommended to get a professional cleaning at least two times per year.
  • Desensitizing toothpaste numbs the nerves in the teeth that can cause discomfort.
  • Mouth guard can protect against grinding teeth during sleep.
  • Fluoride treatment can be applied by dentists to sensitive areas to numb teeth and strengthen enamel.
  • Root canal can treat problems in a tooth’s core.
  • Surgical gum graft where a piece of gum tissue is removed from a section of the mouth to cover an exposed root.
Not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth removed, but there are certain signs that can help you and your doctor determine if yours should be:
  • Wisdom teeth are pushing other teeth around, causing pain and misalignment
  • Cysts form around newly emerged wisdom teeth, causing jaw damage
  • Gums get inflamed and swollen, causing cavities and pain
  • Doctor determine from x-rays that wisdom teeth will cause problems in the near future
