Indy Appliance Repair
10 days ago my French Style GE Fridge stopped cooling. I was looking for a service company that also serviced the Avon area and had a cheap service call price and good reviews. At $9.95 according to their website, and with 36 good reviews on YP.Com, I came across Indy Appliance Repair (IAR). Avon wasn't listed as a service area on their website, but upon calling, the customer service rep (CSR) said they could come out for $40.00. I decided to go ahead and book the appointment due to the high reviews. I took the day off and received a call from the technician in the designated time window. He was very friendly and trying to save me money, he attempted to diagnose the problem over the phone to a main Control Board issue. He explained that it would cost around $300 for the part, but also told me I could call the manufacturer since the fridge was not very old (5 years) and ask them to provide one at a discount. I was able to get the control board and easily install it myself for $80.00. Would have been great, if it had solved the issue. I would give 5 stars for the technicians effort to help me save money, but 2 stars for the effort in diagnosing the issue. I called IAR back, and to my surprise after explaining what happened, the CSR told me to call Turner Appliance Repair to service my fridge. This sort of confused and upset me, that they turned down my business and would not see the problem to the end. I ended up calling another service company that covers the Avon area and they diagnosed it to be a different enclosed board that regulates electricity to the compressor that was burned out and the bill is a little over $500.00. I don't know if this company was too busy to help me that they left me hanging that day, but I ended up wasting $80.00 by taking their advise over the phone. I would just advise other customers to make sure the company does their necessary due diligence on the issue and make sure they come in-person to visually diagnose the problem unless it can be fixed without any investment in parts. Once the real root cause is determined, then provide the options to repair.

Indy Appliance Repair
I arrived home from work to find my refrigerator not working. I called Indy Appliance and they had a person in the area. He replaced the start relay on the compressor and my refrigerator immediatly started to cool. The tech showed me how to check the evaporator coil to make sure the compressor was working properly. This technician also told me put surge protectors on all my appliances. He even told me which specific protectors to use. I am so overwhelmed with how informative and helpful this company was with me. I also wanted to thank the helpful lady on the phone. She even told me what the problem might be and to unplug the compressor so as to not overheat the machine. She checked with the technician to get him out within a couple hours. I am very appreciative of this company and will always use them in the future. This is how a customer should be treated.

Express Appliance Repair
I used Express Appliance Repair on 2 separate occasions I was totally satisfied with both. The quick response time and professionalism was great. One repair job was to fix a 19 year old Kenmore washer whose timer had stopped working. I was so glad to save the machine and keep it working. The second job was to repair a 9 year old GE side-by-side refrigerator with multiple problems that went on for 1.5 years. Most significantly I had a leak on the refrigerator side. I now have full use of working crisper drawers and I am not cleaning up water, etc. On a third occasion I called the owner, Martin, regarding an appliance matter just to get advice. He was very helpful. The price charged for service was appropriate on both occasions. I would definitely call the company in the future.

Odyssey Air
I previously had 2 different HVAC companies come and service my Central Air unit for a cooling issue. The first company cost me $811.00 for a compressor and the second company told I needed an entire new unit. The sad part is that both of these companies are reputable companies in our community. Unsatisfied with the answers I received from these two businesses I decided to try another company that I found on Yellowpages.com. The technician was very professional, prompt and explained every task each step of the way. This made me and my wife feel very comfortable. But the best part is that technician was very knowledgeable and was able to diagnose our issue right away without delay. Odyssey Air is truly a gem. I have referred several of my family and friends. These guys are beyond helpful and aren't just there to make a buck. They are here to make a customer happy. We told them our issue with our refrigerator was a start relay being bad (which the manufacturer told us they no longer made the part we needed). These guys gave us the pieces to fix our refrigerator for no charge and explained to my husband how to put the pieces in. We went home with fingers crossed and my husband put the pieces in with yet another phone call to the guys for a little more help. Low and behold the refrigerator kicked on and it is running again! As if that wasn't enough, they called 30 minutes later to check and make sure it was working properly. A class act business!

Big Jon's Used Appliances
We had an excellent experience with Big Johns. We bought a washer and dryer back in the summer of 2013. The washer had a few problems, but it had a 90 day warranty and they came out each time to take care of it, no questions asked. A year later, we had an issue with a small and inexpensive wire needing replaced. My dad was going to fix it, but he had a difficult time finding the exact part, even after looking online. He went into big johns and, since we were customers in the system, they handed him the part right there. We are so thankful for their amazing customer service. We will definitely be back for our next appliance purchase!

Indy Appliance Repair
This company was excellent to work with. My Maytag oven quit working in August. The oven is only 6 years old but Maytag discontinued the part. Indy Appliance Repair did not let that be the final answer. They made repeated calls to the manufacturer and researched parts until they found one that would work on my oven. The Tech came out this evening and installed it and it worked. Not only did they fight with the manufacturer to find a part that would work but they also worked around my schedule so I did not have to lose any work time. Thank you Chris and Donna. I will definitely recommend you to family and friends.

Indy Appliance Repair
I called because our GE washer is making a loud grinding noise. The woman who answered the phone was very nice and after I explained the problem and she told me that it was a very common problem with GE washers (which I googled before hand and had read) and told me that the repair cost would probably be about as much as just getting a new washer. I really appreciated the honesty because she could have sent out a repairman and collected the service fee, but didn't take advantage. I will definitely be calling if we ever need any sort of future repairs! It is nice to find a company that isn't just out to take your money.

Indy Appliance Repair
I called Indy Appliance Repair over the weekend b/c the water was not dispensing from my refrigerator. They had a technician, Chris, out to my house on Monday. He arrived in between the 3 hour window that they provided me on the initial call and he called when he was 20 minutes out.He looked over my fridge and explained to me how I could fix the problem myself. He also gave some helpful advice about protecting my other appliances and ways I could save myself a lot of money.Chris was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Tips & Advices
If the washing machine is overloaded or all the clothes are packed to one side, the imbalance can cause the washing machine to jerk and shake. These vibrations can be violent enough to slam the machine against other objects, possibly causing damage to its exterior.
Refrigerator coils should be cleaned at least twice a year. Households with pets should clean their refrigerator coils more frequently.
To reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recommends homeowners set their refrigerators at or below 40 degrees Fahrenheit and their freezers at 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
In terms of operations and upkeep, gas dryers are less expensive than electric. The actual savings depends on the cost of gas vs. electricity in the area. Still, gas dryers heat up faster than electric ones do, making them slightly more energy efficient. However, gas dryers are priced higher than electric ones, so homeowners should prepare to pay more at the outset.
Proper maintenance helps most home appliances last longer. Homeowner's should check their user's manuals for insight on how often to inspect, clean or upgrade their appliances.
