Sears Optical
Just posted this on my Facebook page and want to get the word out to locals. I took a shot in the dark going to Sears Optical because I really couldn't find *any* good reviews on any eyeglass place. I'm so glad I went here!Anybody who needs glasses should see Dr. Canida at Sears Optical in Castleton Mall.Best experience buying glasses ever. He did an awesome job with the test, and even did one test twice just to be sure his results were acurate. He was polite, knowledgeable, and helpful. He went way above and beyond. The staff didn't try to pressure me in to anything, I told them what I wanted and they placed the order. The glasses, which are perfect, took less than a week to come in. When I tried them on I told her they felt good. She asked if she could try adjusting them because she thought she could make them more comfortable. She did! She went way above and beyond.I'm writing this because I spent a week trying to decide where to go. I've had bad experiences with glasses in the past. I found nothing but bad reviews everywhere on everybody. I know where I will be going from now on!

Midwest Eye Institute
Dr. Deitch performed my PRK. After the recovery, my vision was better than 20/20. Three years later, my vision is still excellent and I am grateful every day! Before my surgery, he performed my sister's LASIK and my father's glaucoma surgery, and we are all extremely pleased. He is a true professional and you should not go anywhere else. By contrast, my husband just went for LASIK at a TLC Eye Clinic. They couldn't perform the surgery on one of his eyes and instead bruised and bloodied it badly, causing him far more pain than in the eye that had the surgery. To add insult to literal injury, they wrote the wrong names on his prescriptions and charged us as if they had operated on both eyes. This is a pathetic example of what can happen if you go to the wrong doctor, and that's the least of the horror stories I've heard. Dr. Deitch says he fixes the eyes of the people who go to those types of greedy bastards. My family and I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Deitch at Midwest Eye Institute.

Midwest Eye Institute
I am a patient of Dr. Stephen Johnson at Midwest & can I just tell you he is amazing? I've been seeing him for approx 2 Years for my Keratoconus. I wasn't always the best patient, I rescheduled a few appointments & was reluctant to have the corneal transplant that was needed. However, once I decided to commit & move forward, I was immediately reassured as I have always been that I was in the right hands. The team was remarkable with being supportive & informative. Regarding the surgery; Dr. Johnson did a fantastic job. I couldn't be happier with the care I am receiving & I am very optimistic that me having this surgery was one of the best decisions I've made in my life. I wish you all the best of luck with your outcome & prayers that your outcome & care is as good as I have received. Also, I am only 2 days post from my surgery & I have a some pain & mostly discomfort but my eye feels much better today than it did prior to having this surgery. ! Teas R. Utley

Whitson Vision
I have been going to Whitson Vision for several years now and have to say this is the happiest I have ever been with my vision! I was not a candidate for LASIK but the doctors at Whitson Vision were able to recommend and fit me with contacts that I could get my best potential and take care of my dry eyes. It is great to finally understand what is going on with my eyes and what I need to do to improve the quality of my vision! Thank you Whitson Vision!

Progressive Eyecare & Eyewear
The exam was excellant. The eye glass selection and help was excellant. The missing half star is for not being clear about the total cost for every thing. I had a hard time getting a true cost until I had my credit card ran and I had received my receipt. I will take responsibiltiy for not asking to see the cost before handing over payment, but I think it should be standard practice to see a bill before you pay (just like a restuarant).

Progressive Eyecare & Eyewear
My experience has always been positive at Progressive. The Doctors and technicians are all very dedicated and proficient. I have been going to Progressive since aprox. 1994. Before going there I had tried several Doctors who told me that they could not improve my vision past a certain point. The staff at Progressive has exceeded my expectations of what my vision could ever be.

Progressive Eyecare & Eyewear
Everyone that works at Progressive is so nice, helpful, responsive, caring and professional. I have been a patient there for at least 10 years and would never consider going anywhere else for my eye exams and glasses. Treated well. I was treated with respect by the physician and all staff members. The Dr. took time to explain my plan of care and answered my questions.

Fountain Square Eyecare
What an awesome group! Personalized service from beginning to the end. I feel I received the very best eye examination that I have ever received. The staff took the time to show me the latest styles and what would fit my face shape. Fully recommend them to anyone in the down town area.

I of course love the selection of glasses, I had plenty to choose from with numerous styles. What really wowed me was the staff. They made me feel so welcome and honestly were hilarious. I had fun at my appointment. I am on my way to pick up my prescription now and am so excited!

Tips & Advices
A regular eye exam focuses on the general health of your eyes, while a contact lens exam is focused specifically on how your eyes react to contact lenses. A contact lens exam tests how well you see while wearing contacts. Your eyes are also evaluated to make sure your tear ducts produce enough tears to allow you to comfortably wear contact lenses.
The cost of contact lenses depends on the type of lens being purchased and the vision problem that is being corrected. For nearsightedness, you'll be able to purchase a box of six lenses for roughly $25. Each lens needs to be replaced after a couple of weeks, which will require you to purchase 10 boxes of lenses each year, for a total of $250 per year. Contact lenses that treat other conditions like astigmatism and presbyopia are more expensive, and can cost $500-$700 a year.
Some people may experience certain side effects when wearing contact lenses. Dry eyes may result, and some people may experience eye or eyelid inflammation. Some contact lens wearers may also develop allergic reactions to the liquid contact lens solution that is used to clean and disinfect the lens.
The cost of an eye exam can range $50-$250 or more. The cost will depend on the tests that are included, and whether the exam involves a contact lens fitting. The cost of the test will also hinge on whether the exam is performed by an optometrist or ophthalmologist.
An eye exam typically takes 20-30 minutes. If additional tests are required, the process could take longer. Eye exams test your sight, but they are also used to make sure your eyes are in good health. During the test, your eye care professional will ask if you've been experiencing any problems with your vision. Your eyes will be examined using a device known as an ophthalmoscope, and the movement of coordination of your eyes will be checked.
