Ericson Mobile Lock & Key
The front door to my house was aging quite badly and of particular concern was that the lock was starting to fall apart. George assessed the project, which was rather tricky in that a new custom door was needed. He provided an accurate estimate and estimated time of door manufacture. Within the six weeks he quoted, the new door was ready for installation. He came and completed the installation work within a few hours, explaining each point with detail and professionalism. The new door is a vast improvement over the old in every respect. I recommend his firm without qualification and wouldn't hesitate to use them again for any door or lock need I may have in the future.

Dorin and Sons Locks
Yesterday I locked myself out of the house. It was really stupid. I had my iPhone with me and found several locksmiths online. I called a few and finally decided on this one. Actually its because the woman on the phone was so pleasant to deal with. I was shocked that some locksmiths answer the phone the way they do. They sound like criminals to me.Anyway this is a good one. The guy opened my door, didn't break anything. I consider that a good ending to a bad story.

Indianapolis Lock Guys
I couldn't open my door! The locksmith came in about a half hour. He had the door open in a few minutes. He showed me the part that broke - the latch. He replaced the broken latch. He checked my other locks without charging any more than the estimate I was given over the phone. Fast, friendly service. I am happy to recommend Indianapolis Lock Guys because I know how hard it can be to find a good contracter of any kind. If you need a locksmith, call Indianapolis Lock Guys

Supreme Lock & Key
I called yesterday morning asking if they had availability in the afternoon (around 5pm) and they took my information and told me someone would be out between 5 & 6pm. Sure enough, I received a call at 4:40pm and Tommy told me that he would be there in 20 minutes- he was right on time!Tommy was polite and told me that it would take about 10 minutes - again, right on time!So easy, efficient and prompt. I wish all businesses were like this!

A-1 Key-Masters
Unfortunately I had broken a key off in a lock on our storage shed on a Saturday night, and I needed a locksmith so I could go skiing Sunday, as my stuff was inside. We made an appointment for 10:30 Sunday morning, which worked great. Quentin was courteous and professional and installed the new hardware despite the door frame being off kilter and the previous installation having been done poorly. Thanks !

Union Keymasters
Outstanding is all that need be said about this company. They really run a professional business and don't ask any questions. I'm sure they get a lot of embarrassing calls (like mine) where somebody gets locked out of their house or car. The man they sent got there promptly and made light work of getting into my car. Two thumbs way up.

Dorin and Sons Locks
They came to my house and opened the door fast.I was drinking a slush with my brother and suddenly realized that I left the keys at the convenience store. When I went back the keys were not there anymore. I called up this locksmith company and they drove down to my house and opened up my front door. They didn't charge me too much.

My wife and I were traveling in Indianapolis and somehow lost the key to our Toyota truck. A gentleman at the restaurant we were dining at,highly recommended this locksmith. We called and he came in a short while. He made a transponder chip key and soon we were on our way again. Great price and great service!

Tips & Advices
Locksmiths-in-training can receive foundational knowledge and skills through programs offered at technical colleges or vocational schools. These would include basic courses on lock mechanics and manipulation, along with general skills like business management. From there, most trainees seek an apprenticeship, where they work alongside a professional locksmith. This allows them to gain experience in the field. It can also put them on a course toward certification.
Upon arrival to your home, a locksmith should ask you to prove that it is in fact your residence. They should also be able to unlock most common locks without requiring them to be drilled or completely replaced. Be sure to obtain an invoice that lists all charges before agreeing to pay.
  • If possible, research local locksmiths online and take note of any that have poor reviews or complaints.
  • When calling a locksmith, confirm their address matches what you found online or in a directory. Then ask for a cost estimate for the service you need, and ask to have them bring a written copy of this estimate.
  • Some states require locksmiths to be licensed. If your state is one of them, require the locksmith to bring proof of registration when they arrive.
The term locksmith traditionally referred to people who designed and built locks, but today is generally used for those who repair and replace locks. Locksmiths can be available on-call to help people if they're locked out of their home or apartment.
  • First, determine the type of lock you have, as well as the manufacturer or model if possible. You should also obtain measurements of your door and frame.
  • Remove exterior and interior knobs by unscrewing any visible screws you find. Many knobs will include a decorative cover on the interior side that can be removed.
  • Once you've removed the entire lock, find the screws on the inside of the door frame to remove the latch or deadbolt.
  • With everything removed, repeat these steps in reverse order to install the new lock.
