Nourish Pet Care
If you are looking for a great selection of quality, natural, and holistic pet food and products, this is the store for you! Compared to similar pet food stores in Houston, I found an even bigger selection of some of the foods I am feeding my cats and dogs, and I was quite pleased to find several of the brands I am having to mail order are stocked here. The boarding room is clean and modern and the kitty "condos" are spacious. When I first visited the store to check out the cat boarding facility for my diabetic cat, Linda Scheer, owner and Director of Pet Services, was there and I spoke to her for a good 30 minutes or more about my pets, what I am feeding, and the struggles with my diabetic cat. Linda is a licensed vet tech and very knowledgeable. I have now boarded my diabetic cat at Nourish during two out of town trips. Based on my experiences to date, I recommend them 100%. Linda and Bill Sheer, Rosie, and the rest of the staff are wonderful to work with. Linda spent a lot of time with me prior to boarding to make sure she understood the details of what was needed for my cat in terms of administering her twice daily insulin injections, when and how I wanted them to take periodic blood glucose tests, feeding, etc. She knew I was concerned about leaving my cat in boarding and did everything needed to make me feel comfortable. During both trips I have gotten email updates several times each day to let me know how she is doing, sending me photos of her, and reporting her blood test readings. Boarding is $15 per day, plus an extra $4 per insulin injection. Compared to other boarding facilities, that is a great price. The cats get twice daily 30 minute play times out of their condos. From the emails I received it is obvious my cat got lots of attention and love from the staff...probably more than she gets at home with our 6 animals! Linda has given me great suggestions not only in dealing with the diabetes and recommending products for my cats, but also discussing with me the foods I give our two collies and making recommendations. If you or someone you know has a cat that needs boarding, or if you are looking for a great selection of quality pet foods and products, I highly recommend checking them out!

Any Size Paws
If you want someone that will care for and love your fur babies just as much as you do – call Jeffery at Any Size Paws. He goes above and beyond what is expected in caring for your pets. I knew I was lucky to find him when he came over to first meet the babies before I left town. Even my semi-feral cat came straight to him. And by the time I returned my most skittish kitty was coming out when he visited. He obviously has a good soul that animals are attracted to and bond with. The night before I was to leave I started noticing something as wrong with one of my kitties and I had to be at the airport at 5am. I left Jeffrey a message and he was on his way to pick up my baby and have him at the vet’s office when they opened. My kitty ended up needing surgery. It was very stressful being out of town. But Jeffrey was taking care of everything which helped me immensely so that I could relax and enjoy my vacation.

Loving Arms Pet Placement
I'm really bad about reviewing companies / products, but after I saw the two one stars I felt I should step in and describe my own experience. It's been about seven months now since I picked my little guy up, but I remember it being nothing but a smooth process. It wasn't instantaneous - you have to fill out a relatively long application, and then (in my experience at least) there were multiple phone calls and a home inspection part. I can safely say that all of this is just to keep the pets interests in heart; many of those animals have already been abandoned or gone through terrible situations. It was also a very educational moment - I live in an apartment and have never had a dog before, but they were still very open minded about my situation and helped me to understand the commitment that I was about to take. The pets that I saw definitely weren't dirty, either!

Pet Styling by Sherry
They were friendly and had good customer service but they did not listen to how I wanted my Shih Tzu puppy groomed. I gave specific instructions as to what I wanted and they shaved her front and back off. I loved when she was fluffy and now it will take months to grow that back. They did not cut her face the way I asked either. I was afraid to try a new groomer and my nervousness was confirmed -- I will just have to drive an hour to a groomer I have always liked and suck it up. She was happy when I picked her up though, so I know she was treated with good care; just very unhappy with her style. I cried for a day :(

The Dump
We had excellent customer service. He answered every question we had and explain even more. We bought a twin xl adj base-head & foot and Lawtag Twin XL Advantage plush matt. That made a King size bed. The only problem is the delivery guys didn't have any kind of protector on their shoes and it was raining that day, we have off white carpets. I'm really not understanding this cause I'm an AC guy and we have to wear them on our shoes when we are in a customers house. That is the only problem we had. Our sale person was Thomas Baar very good sale person we are asking for him when we come back.

Houston Aquatics
I drove from Austin to see my son and based on reviews, both pro and con, I wanted to visit a mom and pop shop. Yes, it is not the tidiest place, but for freshwater fish, this is what I wanted. VERY healthy and great prices. I have been raising fish for over 40 years and I know mom and pop shops get fish locally. They knew I was traveling back to Austin and put all my fish in large bags with fresh oxygen plus a styro crate. Very attentive. And yes, there are lots of kitties roaming around, but they are friendly. :-) I'll be back on my next visit for sure.

PetSmart
I have been going to this Petsmart for a long time now and every time I go in, I have never had any problems. It's a spacious facility, located in a good part of town and is always clean. In addition to going to the store on about a bi-monthly basis, I also just visited Banfield this past weekend to get my puppy his first set of shots. I have never received such great service from a vet. This service is what made us sign up for their wellness plans. Yes, I'm locked into 1 vet now, but I'm okay with it because it was such a pleasant experience.

Pet City Houston Inc
It's about time to see a real pet store, this place had everything from puppies to chipmunks, it was like a compact zoo. The kids loved it and cried when we had to leave. If anyone ever asked me where to go for a pet, I would tell them that pet city has everything! Even snakes, which they let my son hold. The best place ever, I'll be going back.

Alpha Kennels K-9 & Pet Grooming Services
My wife and I took our female cat to have her spayed, we searched for the best prices and found Alpha K-9. They were very helpful, we dropped her off at 10 and was able to pick her up at 2! It was soo fast. They had friendly staff and were very knowledgeable in what was going on. They answered all of our questions with no problems.

Tips & Advices
Some pet groomers have viewing areas where owners can sit and watch their pets being treated. Most prevent owners from being in the same room as the pet, however, as the owner's presence might cause the pet to become too excited.
Pets that cannot interact with strangers do not make good professional grooming candidates. Sometimes medication can help, but some groomers don't take animals that have been sedated. If a pet becomes too unruly, a groomer may end the session entirely.
It's best to fully vaccinate pets before bringing them to their first grooming appointment. Dogs should receive the DA2PPC vaccine, which stands for canine distemper, canine andenovirus type 2, canine parvovirus, and parainfluenza. It's also a good idea to vaccinate dogs against Bordedatella (aka “kennel cough”). In fact, New York City requires dogs receive both DAPP and Bordetella shots. Cats, meanwhile, should get the FVRCP vaccine: feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus infection, and panleukopenia. In addition, all pets should be up to date on their rabies shots. Owners should wait at least 24 hours after getting their pet vaccinated before bringing it to the groomers.
Technically, there is no such thing as a pet that is too old for a professional groomer. In fact, older pets with joint or mobility issues often can't groom themselves and need someone else to clean them. However, pets that are blind, deaf, or have serious medical issues might not do well at a groomer, especially if the person is inexperienced. Owners should feel free to ask potential groomers about their understanding of elderly pet issues. Often, older pets will exhibit puppy-like behavior and squirm or yelp during grooming. Alternatively, they might not be able to stand for long periods of time. As such, grooming an older pet usually takes more time than grooming a young one.
Puppies and kittens should be at least 10 weeks old before their first professional grooming session. They should be used to being gently handled by strangers and comfortable being separated from their owners for a few hours at a time.
