The Mac Bar
I have been coming here for a while and I can understand the changes Mac has made...the atmosphere is still cool - drinks a little over priced but it depends on the night and your bartender but lately the DJ SUCKS!!! We went to the spot just last night (Sept 1st/2nd - Labor Day Weekend) and for the 1st time noticed the sign outside read "Where the best DJs play" (or something like that) - FALSE!!! I woulda bet money Mr DJ was from LA (even tho I found out later he's from The H) - we had to listen to 2 full (45 min) sets of "Louisiana Bounce" within 3 hours- and the old stuff at that!!! When he did bring it back to what is jamming today it was the same few top 10 songs - I was frustrated because I come to dance & was ready to have a good time last night but Mr DJ was not on it (again)...the only reason for my review is because same DJ has been there the last few visits and since there really is nowhere else to go on the Northside -I guess I am hoping this issue will be addressI like this spot - been going since it was Bronzelle's (with the pole, full wall of mirrors, pool table & 1 toilet for the ladies) but bottom line I only go out for 2 reasons - the Dancing and the Drinks - and Mac Bar is not doing it!!!Word to ALL - Proceed with low expectations!

Verts
We visited the Vertskebap in Spring, Texas on July 1, 2015 at the recommendation of a co-worker. A gentleman by the name of Cederick took our order and also offered great suggestions regarding the sauces, etc to put on our meal to enhance the experience. Everyone including Cederick was super friendly and all three of us, my wife, myself and our son, all voted 5 out of 5 stars and a definite new restaurant on our palate of dining choices. The food is fresh, wholesome, and is healthy. Lots of fresh vegetables, the meat choices come in beef, lamb and chicken and the sauces are made homemade they said every day, right in the store. A definite recommend, you have to try it - you will be hooked.

RIPCORD
RIPCORD is a friendly gay bar with a very laid back atmosphere. There's a spirit of acceptance for all shades of gay from leather to lesbians, twinks to tranny's and everything in between. RIPCORD is the most diverse gay crowd by hosting a wide range of events from Sunday Show Tunes, Art Shows, Geeks Who Drink and theme parties.... The bottom line is RIPCORD is everything gay. RIPCORD also has the biggest outdoor patio of all the gay bars in the Montrose, pool tables and darts. TV's have videos and regular shows during the week. An unassuming facade with a very welcoming interior. "Bring a friend. Talk to strangers."

Mike's Ultimate Sports Bar
Same crowd, same fat British guy from the efficiency apartments, same dried-up cancerous bar tender, same convicts, same Mount Marley, same Strange Brew, same dart games, same chubby chasers, same everything. But those Big A beers for $3.00 hit the old Spatten. This is not a classy joint,; but they did re-do the bathrooms a few years back.Saw a chick wet her pants, and another light matches on her silicone jobs for all to see. Can see the drug dealers at Food Town the next day shopping with their grandma.Get lost in the Time Machine, be a faithful patron. Don't get too crazy, you too might climb Mt. Marley...

RIPCORD
I first visited RIPCORD in 2001. I've seen it go through a few phases. Some better than others. Fortunately, the new managment has done a great job of bringing the gay bar into a new era of masculinity along with renovated bathrooms, a new paint job, wide range of events, cheap drinks, and friendly bartenders.RIPCORD is a gay bar usually full of 23-55yo men (Bears, Daddy's, Cubs, Twinks) and their LGBTQIA friends. The patio is the largest of all the gay bars in the Montrose and is synonymous with a fun and friendly bears.Basically, a laid back bear bar with pool, darts, and great music.

Bimbo's Beer & Bar B Q
Bimbo's is a great dive bar. Cheap drinks, friendly service, friendlier people. Crazy "decor" of strange stuff all over the place. Went on a Saturday, the place was packed but still enough room to move around. It's a small club and it has some seating outside. The DJ kept the dance floor full (mostly women) when customers weren't singing Karaoke. Interesting mix of younger and older crowd. Anyone would fit in. Not for the trendy, exclusive type, for sure. Great mixed drinks and your standard beer selection. 1 pool table and that's about it. All you need for a great dive bar.

Chicago Bar & Grill
I love the grown folk atmosphere, the food and the drinks! I do think a $10 cover charge is a bit much for what I consider a neighboorhood bar. I can remember when there was no cover charge. I do understand a cover charge on Sunday for the Live Music, because I know the band has to be compensated. With most drinks at $10 and the cover charge, I think you keep alot of people who would come more often from coming. I know it keeps myself, my husband and friends and their companions from coming as much as we would like to. I heard this from many other people. I'm just saying...... Thanks

Sayad Grill
This is the first time that I write a review about a restaurant. I went there yesterday during lunch . The food was excellent . I ordered from lunch menu where they have several plates under 9.95 for an entree and 2 side orders including seafood.i don't think you can beat the price and the taste of the food. I never tasted a Mediterranean food in Houston like this . With respect to all other Mediterranean restaurants , all their food taste the same .I really love the food and can't wait to go back again .Our waitress Nour was excellent .

RIPCORD
So I've been coming to this bar for years. RIPCORD has made some great improvements over the last few months, including drink specials, staff and decor. It's a a far cry from the RIPCORD of the past, but still a great place to meet old friends, new friends and the occasional play thing. You can always find what you are looking for. Great cruising bar...Yummm! Has a great patio, events like 80s night on Friday's and strip pool on Mondays. The bartenders Rock and are sometimes Rock Hard!

Just a moment...
