I am in agreement with other reviewers on several recurring issues including the service which can be slow, and the high prices for small portions of food prepared competently yet without real inspiration. The menu itself is also somewhat limited in choices, particulalry for dinner.Executive Chef Ryan Pera is the inspiration behind the kitchen of The Grove. One of the best times to visit the restaurant is during its famed Sunday Brunch. It is when the natural lighting is at its best and is perfect for a front seat to the weekend festivities downtown. The restaurant offers a variety of creative spirits that set the mood for an urban relaxed lunch. One of the only places in Houston to offer a Clear Spicy Bloody Mary, The Grove has recently added a Banana Margarita to its drink list, which includes herradura silver tequila and coconut crunch, accentuating a fruity kick to brunch.A word of advice –be sure to use the restaurant’s convenient and fast valet parking services when downtown is busy. Parking in and around the park can often be hard, if not impossible, to find, depending on the festivities going on at the time.
My friends talked it up. Saying, it was a wonderful spot and they couldn't beleive I hadn't been there (being a native Houstonian) so I decided to go.My take on it was that I was unimpressed by the drab uninviting exterior & interior, the smell of grease permeating the air, the leaning undersized tables that were cluttered with condiments, and the perfectly square dining room that held it's diners shoulder to shoulder. The place felt like it needed a good cleaning to me.Almost everyone in the place was overweight (including myself) which directly correlates to the type of food they serve. Remember when your grandmother use to fill the bottom of her cast iron skillet with oil to make eggs? Yeah...that's what ALL of the food is like. It tasted just fine though. The service was fine and the people were freindly (patrons and staff) but I won't be back.I give it 4 stars because the place was PACKED. We had to wait in line to be seated at 9am. During our meal it began to rain hard but people kept coming! It may not be my kind of place but apparently, it is for lots of others!

All American Auto Salvage has awesome customer service and reasonable prices. Victor is great, very fair, and helpful. I was looking for rear differential assembly for my Chevy Trailblazer. They originally sent over one for a heavier truck but took it back and I was able to go on the yard to find the one that did match my truck.It is best to go out to find the part yourself. Unfortunately a lot of glove boxes are missing and that is where you'll find the part match information that you need.Tony went out in heavy rain without complaint to help us look through the yard to distinguish what truck the one came off of that they delivered and to find the one that actually matched. My truck is back together and running like brand new! The part we got from them was great. I would gladly go back to them and refer anyone to them.Great service in any industry seems to be lacking so I am always glad to have a positive experience.Thanks guys! Sunday is the day my brother and I spend lunch together. We decided chilis because my brother really wanted a burger. Sadly to say I was highly disappointed. The waiter had no energy, enthusiasm and just didn't seem to care to be there. Someone else brought our food and she was very happy compared to our waiter. After being done for 15 minutes he finally came over to ask if I needed something. I told him yes, a to go box. I waited 10 minutes!!!! 10 minutes and no box! I gave up and decided that playing the waiting game or raising a hand to get attention wasn't for me. Not a good experience at all. I gave it a 2 because my brother enjoyed his burger.
The menu at Lucio’s concentrates on seasonal and fresh local ingredients. The menu changes often at Lucio’s, but many of the high-quality ingredients (extra-virgin olive oils, balsamic vinegars, fresh herbs and seasonal vegetables, etc.) are constant. Lucio’s continues to be one of our favorite dining spots in Houston. Ask for Robert or Steven for consistently fantastic service. I've recommended Lucio's to friend's looking to try something new, or those seeking an intimate venue to host a birthday dinner or special date. I always look forward to returning to sample Executive Chef Rick Guerrero and Sous-Chef Brett Maesch’s latest seasonal menu.
Chefs menu and execution on meals are excellent . The price is to be expected for the quality of food however, the atmosphere is not demanding of the price. This restaurant was rated as romantic . Maybe if you are 19 and you like electronic dance music. The Multi colored lighting is distracting and hard to see. Service is decent but for the price, they should be more attentive. Whine is ok. Most of their whine is there own label. You can buy the same whine with your own label for about $5 per bottle however, they sell it for $15 a glass. I am not slamming this place, the food is great.
I worked with Elizabeth Haug to organize our event. From the very beginning all the way to the close of our event, she was nothing shy of remarkable! Extremely calm, organized, and accessible. I have put together many company events over the years and nothing ever went this smooth and seamless. I cannot thank you, Elizabeth, and the Cullen’s staff enough for making this a memorable event for all attendees. It is extremely difficult to please several hundred employees and I can honestly say I do not recall any mutters or dissatisfaction. Kudos to Elizabeth and your incredible staff.
My first time to eat at Grand Lux was last week and I was thoroughly impressed. I hope to return there soon even though I do not live in Houston. The waiter was very pleasant and quite informative when he learned that it was our first visit there. I ordered the Bento Box, which changes entrees and soups daily. It included soup, salad, an entree and two sides. The food was delicious and well presented, and the price was reasonable. Dessert beignets were amazing. The three sauces that came with them were perfection, especially the creme anglaise! Can't wait to go back!
Thank you for the thank you note. We very much enjoyed having our event at Cullen's restaurant. It was the first time I and many of my guests had ever been. Desiree was a wonderful server! She was wonderfully patient and attentive. Hilary was also a joy to work with. She responded to all of my inquiries promptly. I will most definitely recommend Cullens to anyone who is looking for a venue for their event. Desiree mentioned a Sunday brunch with unlimited mimosa's as well. I am looking forward to sampling that as soon as out little bundle of joy has arrived.
