Cell 4 Less
Evidently, I am the antithesis of most of the earlier reviewers on this site and others. My experience was quite favorable. I wanted a full featured, unlocked, smart phone but I couldn’t afford a new one. Cell 4 Less had a used one for sale that they advertised on Craig’s List for significantly less than I would have had to pay on eBay. James was the contact on the ad and he was very patient with me. He described the phone and even got some information from the phone’s memory for me. He assured me that it wasn’t blacklisted but then he even gave me the IMEI # so I could verify it myself. (Which I did, on the carrier’s blacklist and on several others.) Additionally, James agreed to hold the phone for me for about 4 hours. Very unusual and very much appreciated. When I arrived it was similar to other cell phone shops that I have visited. They evidently work with a lot of carriers and had a decent selection of phones. It is a fairly modest enterprise. Brandon greeted me and explained that James wasn’t there. However, Brandon was just as helpful as James. He went out of his way to reassure me that the phone wasn’t stolen, lost or still under contract. I requested that he show me the IMEI on both the battery case and on the phone settings as well as check the moisture sensors with me. Everything checked out. He even offered me an Otter case at a much lower price than a box store and threw in a car charger to boot. All in all a great deal and a good experience. Another thing, Brandon made it clear that there was no rush and that he would answer any of my questions. Being my first smart phone, this was particularly kind. The only reason that I didn’t give them 5 stars was because it took them 2 more days to get the unlock code for me. But they did get it and the phone appears to work superbly with aio Cellular. Bottom line, they kept their deal, the phone was as described and there don’t appear to be any problems. At all.One peculiar thing did happen while I was there. A lady wanted to return a phone that she purchased because it (supposedly) didn’t work. The sales rep that talked with her was very patient and checked the phone over and it apparently worked fine. She complained that it didn’t work with her carrier’s sim card but, get this, she didn’t bring the sim card in. He assured her that had she brought the sim card with her he could have straightened out the problem. She just kept complaining that it didn’t work. I’m not sure how it was resolved. However, these guys are not a major supplier so eating the price of a phone is surely unpalatable. I am sure that they would have made things right if there was a problem. But the phone worked!Sorry to have gone on so long but it irritates me when a store gets bad reviews and deserves some good ones. Those other reviewers may have had problems but I did not.

Hollywood Nails
The only reason this place didn't get 1 star is because everyone there was very nice. I came in with full expectations of walking out with stunning nails, but needless to say, that was not the case. I mentioned to the front desk lady that I wanted 3D fake nails. She kindly suggested solar over gel nails, so I went with it. I wasn't offered a design book to look at (although the FIRST thing I mentioned was that I wanted 3D. I thought this was odd but just went with flow. Fast forward, the lady who applied the nails (Kelly) was very nice. When she told me to pick out the 3D designs, everything I liked/wanted to get done couldn't be done because it was too late, it had to go under the solar powder. Well, thanks for telling me that after you've already applied the powder and let it set. I was a little sad (because these were my birthday nails and I wanted them a specific way) but decided instead to just do something simple. which was attach small rhinestones along the curved base of the nails. First of all, some of the nails had spots where it didn't have enough powder on top so the nail on the bottom was peeking through. Second of all, the rhinestones she attached on my nails were CROOKED! It looks weird because the crooked stones happen to be on my thumb, which is very noticeable. It was on a few other fingers, too. The nail shape was eh. I didn't get them very long, yet they looked unnatural and sort of like those duck nails, if I'm not mistaken. Some of the nails were also filed crooked. The only highlight was that my pedi was rather okay, I didn't have uneven white tips or anything but she did file my big toe sort of crooked. The tab wasn't cheap and I would have been okay with it had it been excellent work. I was extremely disappointed. If I come back, I will ask for Hannah. Seems like everyone is raving about her.

I brought my unlocked iPhone4 in to start prepaid service with Tmobile. They seemed to be generally unknowlegeable about how to accomplish this procedure. Also they gave me several different stories about my connection speed all the way from instant 4G to 3G to Edge (very slow) and Edge was what I ended up with, though they promised I would have 3G or 4G by the end of the month. Finally after about an hour, I had paid the $50 for the 30 day unlimited Talk, Text & Web prepaid card. Before I left, I tried unsuccessfully to connect to the Net using the slow Edge service but got no connection whatever. The manager had to go research what was wrong, and finally after about 15 minutes, she returned with a 2 page set of detailed instructions needed to activate my internet connection. After another 30 minutes and many fumbling attempts, the sales girl managed to get it working. Then the next day, I called for info on purchasing the Galaxy Exhibit phone on the same prepaid plan. The manager could not accurately answer my questions about international use and said she would call back within 2 hours...did not happen. I called and she said she had not had time but would contact me by the end of the day within 4 hours which also did not happen. All in all, they are lucky to get 2 Stars, Probably deserve 1 or 0.

Lavish Looks Salon & Nail Bar
I had a great experience at Lavish Looks. I initially found them on instagram and made a decision to give them a try after I had some horrible experiences with "instagram famous hairstylist" that don't care about there customer. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and everything was clean. My stylist Ra was so nice and had great customer service. I'm very big on customer service wherever I go , the owner and everyone else was so nice they all spoke and it was a peaceful experience. I usually hate going to salons because of my bad experiences but I can tell they take their consumer seriously here at Lavish. Ra asked me exactly what I wanted and how I wanted my curls to look and made sure it was done properly. She gave me the best closure sewin I ever had and I've had plenty. She's patient and knows what she's doing. I had no idea how my experience was going to be when I first booked but I'm extremely pleased. Ra is now my go to and permanent hairstylist I won't go anywhere else. I have a lot of hair and she managed to get my closure so flat its crazy. My bf loves it and I do too. Not sure if what people experienced in the past , but you can tell everyone in that salon has stepped their game up. They won themselves a loyal customer. Please ask for Ra when booking , very knowledgeable, talented and funny!

Tulip Nail Massage & Skin Care
This is the best mani/pedi spot in Houston. I wouldn't go anywhere else. The place is very clean, the people are friendly, the prices are reasonable, the massage chairs are comfy, and the magazine selection is great. It is not noisy, like some of the other places. Just sit and let them massage the worries out of your feet and and you may find yourself dozing off from utter relaxation and pampering. The Tulip Pedi (with or without paraffin) is heavenly. I love how they use natural ingredients like limes and buttermilk on your feet/legs. And then the salt scrub and hot towels--ahhh, it doesn't get any better than that! What is unique about the place is the consistency--they ALWAYS do a good and thorough job. I've never had one complaint about the place in 4 years of going there. It doesn't matter which mani/pedicurist you ask for--they are all well trained and the service is high quality. It's always better to call ahead and time to check their schedule or make an appointment and if they are booked up when you call, they will tell you when there is availability.

Cafe Brussels
Catherine’s latest venture, Café Brussels is a great new addition to the Heights. Try the Tartare de Saumon dressed with a zesty Belgian country vinaigrette accompanied by a Belgian draft beer or glass (bottle!) of wine. You can’t go wrong requesting Catherine’s favorite mussel dish for a main course, Belgian classic, Moules Marinières, accompanied by a large serving of golden Belgian Fries. The large and succulent mussels are steamed to perfection and portion sizes are very generous! My dining companion enjoyed le Petit Pavé de Bruxelles, a perfectly cooked steak and le Cordon Bleu. Be sure to leave room for one of Café Brussels fabulous desserts! Catherine's crepes are among my favorites.Catherine Duwaz is both a good friend and a genuinely nice person. It brings me great pleasure to see a friend continue to succeed in a town that can be unforgiving to restaurateurs. Cafe Brussels is our new "go-to" place in Houston for great Belgian food. And to top it all off, the prices are very reasonable for the quality and the portions sizes are generous.

Twin Nails Spa
I LOVE THIS PLACE. I'D GIVE IT TEN STARS IF POSSIBLE!!! I'm originally from Cali and came to Texas for my two daughter's spring break vacation. They LOVE getting their nails done, but can be very picky sometimes with the service at some places. However, the girls were extremely satisfied with the ladies who did their nails, which is why they keep bugging me to bring them back! If only Cali had a Twin Nail Spa location near us! The manager, Mimi, was very nice and helpful. I also got my nails done and they were very gentle while handling my nails because I have very sensitive cuticles. Most nail salons I visit, I get very irritated from harsh treatment, but the ladies here were very good. The staff and service was great so me and my girls ended up going a second time and getting pedis before our trip home! The price was very reasonable for what they offered. the store has a wide range of color variety, and I would definately recommend this place! I'm going to make sure I stop by here when I get the chance to visit Texas again!!!

The Villagio
We decided on the Villagio & couldn't be happier! The venue is clean, spacious, and simply elegant. We had our ceremony and reception here. Trish, owner & overall planner, is prompt, thorough, charismatic and easy to work with. The venue is tucked away at the end of a street, with private parking & far from the street. There are inside/outside room options, but the trademark is a beautiful spiral staircase for a grand bridal entrance! The package we chose was the Ultimate II. This package comes with everything except the DJ and videographer so we didn’t have to worry about hiring various vendors for each part of our wedding. Trish already has a strong vendor selection. Our package came with food, cake, linens, floral arrangements, photo booth, lighting, photography, 2 HPD officers, and a wedding coordinator. We paid extra for drapery and it was beautiful. The caterers allowed us to test the food in a prior meeting so we can give them very specific details. Mr. & Mrs. King 08/12/2016

Tierra Luna Grill
This is my favorite Mexican restaurant ever. We have frequented a lot of Mexican food restaurants, and who hasn't when you live in Texas. But Tierra Luna Grill is by far the best I have ever been to.The flavor of the salsa is awesome. Evidently they grill the tomatoes for the salsa and who knows how they spice it up. The chips are warm and thin and crispy. They give you a small bowl of queso with the chips. I could dine on the chips and stuff alone. They were soooo good. And the waitstaff is terrific at keeping the bowls full and making their customers happy. The owner even came by and visited with us. She was wonderful. And then there are the entrees. All I can say is 'WOW!' They were marvelous. The Carnitas, Fajitas, and the Barbacoa are to die for. Perfectly cooked and spiced to enhance the flavor, not overpower it. The charro beans and spanish rice where super as well. Fantastic homecooked Mexican food and the waitstaff is great. We very highly recommend the Tierra Luna Grill.

Chic Nails And Spa Houston
Chic Nails is the best salon I have been to in a long time. The prices are reasonable and the service is outstanding. They also offer complimentary refreshments (including wine!).I have been going to David for a few months now, and he has focused on making my nail goals a reality. I have very thin nails and have never been able to grow them out. I told this to David and he recommended I do shellac with extra coats to keep my nails strong and protected. My natural nails are now longer than they have ever been, and my shellac NEVER chips. I go back every two weeks only because it grows out! They have the largest selection of colors I have ever seen, and are knowledgeable about all the latest nail treatments. If you have seen it on Pinterest, they know how to do it. I highly recommend David at Chic Nails for anyone who is looking for a new nail salon!
