8.Guzman's Reception Hall
401 Pennsylvania St
I searched all over Houston/Clear Lake area for a reception hall that provided value for the money paid. I originally viewed the website and decided to go and see the hall. I was very impressed with what I saw. It's a beautiful hall! The owner Sylvia was very professional. She helped my daughter with the color choices and even ordered new linens to match the colors chosen. Sylvia went beyond what I expected from her. The day of the event went smoothly. The hall was beautiful-we received so many compliments. I definitely will use her services again!

5250 S Sam Houston Pkwy E
BEST QUALITY HAUNTED HOUSE OUT THERE MUST GO it's a little pricey only because they pay their actors
13.The Menil Collection
1515 Sul Ross St
This space is always enjoyable. Nice and interesting exhibits. I love the trees around the museum as well.
14.Houston Arboretum & Nature Ctr
4501 Woodway Dr
This is the best walk in the park in the city of Houston. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant [and free!] experience.
15.Houston Museum of Natural Science
5555 Hermann Park Dr
If your looking for something to do with the kids, try the Butterfly center. They have one room full of insect exhibits and games before entering a huge bio dome with live butterflies all around. It is a small tour, but if you just kick back and enjoy the scenery you can spend a few hours. The price is like 8 bucks for an adult and 4 for kids above 3..........which makes it the cheapest tour in the Museum.
16.Memorial Golf Course
6501 Memorial Dr
Great old style layout, with very mature trees. Fair course, with accuracy rewarded. Fairways are generally large, but there are plenty of places to lose a ball. Water is only an important issue on a couple of holes. Total distance ranges from 7,305 to 5,459, offering a good chance for every level of golfer. \r Tee times filled by lottery three days in advance, and the course stays full but not crowded. Marshals keep players moving at a reasonable pace. As others have mentioned, parking is a problem in the immediate parking lot, but there is plenty of parking at the church across the street and along the loop road (why do golfers complain about having to walk a couple of hundred extra yards?) Nice full service facility - good instructional staff, nice range (gets very crowded at peak times), decent pro shop and good food at Beck's Prime Grill.
2225 N Sam Houston Pkwy W
The meat section in Screamworld is absolutely amazing.
18.Houston Holocaust Museum
5401 Caroline St
I've lived in the Houston area for 22 yrs and I have been to just about every museum, attraction, site etc, but quite frankly I was a little concerned that the holocaust museum would be sad and depressing! IT was very much the opposite! EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO!! The more people who go visit this museum the less likely anything like this will ever happen again!! Open your eyes people....look where our country is heading!
19008 Saums Rd
I love the paths next to the creek (north of Saums Rd.) for walking. They are shaded and away from the more public areas. Women may want to bring a friend or dog on these. There are also miles and miles of paths that are a bit less interesting and are better for biking/skating than walking. Lots of large open spaces plus several covered areas for birthday parties, etc. This is Houston, so it's not going to be spectacular, but it's very pleasant in a more subtle way. I have been there literally over 100 times and never encountered bad people or heard of such encounters. Regarding snakes, one reviewer spoke of water moccasins but these were most likely blotched water snakes, which are not poisonous. Water moccasins are nocturnal. I have not seen any copperheads. Just leave the snakes alone if you see them.
20.Orange Show Ctr for Visionary Art
2402 Munger St
You can tell a lot about a city by the monuments it preserves. Houstonians have preserved the orange show - one man's monument to the orange. For those who can take a look at the lighter side of life - the orange show is perfect. Its also great for kids - the love it.
21.Zuma Fun Center
6767 Southwest Fwy
This was my first time to take the family a place like this. The batting cages were constantly jamming up, and we had constantly go find an employee to re-set the machines, and give us our token back so we could try again. Staff were really friendly and helpful. There was no issues getting a rain check for outdoor adventures when the weather did not allow us to complete our visit. The women's bathroom was absolutely disgusting. Every toilet was dirty, on the seat and inside. Dirty diapers left on the changing table. Every sink had trash inside of it. I felt dirty just walking into that room.
22.Go Kart Raceway
2800 W Mount Houston Rd
Ever since i was 4 years old i have been coming here and even now at 11 years old i still like it. The people there are very nice and now that i am 3rd of all the kids in the United States in go karting, i still love coming back here. The track is very cool, there is also lots of nice people, and a bunch of cool games. :)
1409 Sul Ross St
If you are visiting Houston this place in the museum district is a must.\r It is free to the public and is really easy to get to. Plus there is plenty of parking.\r The Rothko Chapel is such a special place that I really have to stop and take a deep breath\r when I think of how many native houstonians have never been here.\r Even people who have been to the Menil Collection.\r Mark Rothko's paintings are very unique. He does have other more vibrant colorful work, but\r the paintings here create the atmosphere of deep thought or meditation.\r It is quite but you have to remember you are in a chapel. If you stay here long enough you will\r find a little inner peace within the countries fourth largest city.\r Writing a review just doesn't do justice to the value of this historical Houston Landmark.\r Even if it doesn't seem like something you would do...\r DO IT !\r Open your mind to new ideas about what a chapel or a place of solice can bring.
24.Mountasia Family Funcenter
17190 State Highway 249
We played mini golf 18holes for 6.00/each. It lasted hours, so the entertainment value was good. The course goes around a man made mountain with waterfalls everywhere. The kids loved it. The downside was that one light was out making it dark on some holes and the course needed to be swept for dirt. This place had an elaborate go kart track that went under and over, the best I have seen so far. The batting cages were softball, slow, med and fast pitch. The fast pitch was having a problem staying going, but the others were fine. The game room was very nice and seemed to be well kept. Tues special is about 20$ for unlimited rides/games, but mini golf kept us busy enough. location is in a good looking shopping district of Willowbrook
180 W Rankin Rd
Take your Kids to have fun, and play all day. They will love Zuma !
26.Lawndale Art Center
4912 Main St
The Lawndale Art Center is a great way to get out of the heat and see some great, local artists. It's free, it's always changing. . . why would you NOT want to go? Plus, check out the ""Big Show"" which opens this weekend!
27.Buffalo Soldiers National Museum
3816 Caroline St
the Buffalo Soliers National Museum in Houston located in downtown Houston is a must see before you leave the state. The staff is not only friendly, but they are so knowledgeable on the artifacts, millitary uniforms for men and women, and the gift shop is amazing. The prices are very reasonable. The souveneirs are great! Tthe Buffalo Soldier artwork is amazing. The museum 1 man reenactment of a buffalo soldier draws is phenominal! The show will definately leave you wanting to no more about the history of the Buffalo Soldier. I would recommend this museum for all family members, you will not be disappointed.
28.Contemporary Arts Museum
5216 Montrose Blvd
We love visiting the Contemporary Arts Museum and find ourselves doing so at least once a quarter. For starters, its free, so we'll stop in after lunch on the weekends and not feel obligated to spend all day and get our $20 out of the experience. Also, the exhibits are always changing, so we are constantly experiencing something new and learning about a new artist. For Houstonians or those visiting, the CAMH is a must see!
29.The Health Museum
1515 Hermann Dr
This was a wonderful activity to spend with the kids on summer break. I had two 8 year olds and a 10 year old with me and they were all enjoying the walk through the human body and the who done it exibit. Not an all day affair, but its a wonderful way to spend a few hours in the afternoon.
30.Beer Can House
222 Malone St
