The restaurant opened in 2007 has become a sophisticated little place with fantastic food. Upon entering Brasserie Max & Julie (owned by neither Max or Julie but by Chris and Laurence Paul who also own Cafe Rabelais in Rice Village) I am struck I by the comfortable, authentic, intimate atmosphere which allows one to believe for a moment that they are not in the middle of Houston, but instead in a brasserie located within a French village. The interior of rich scarlet fabrics and bright gold railings enhances the illusion. The menu is creative offering seasonal country French dishes, such as savory pot-au-feu, white duck cassoulet and steak au poivre are both satisfying and authentic while the service is always competent and friendly.

My parents, my husband and 10 month old visited this location and received quite a disappointing experience. I was so disappointed by the poor customer service I called up the chain's comment line and gave my feedback. \r My call was returned a few days later by manager Jason Robicheaux. I was ABSOLUTELY IMPRESSED by his empathy and his drive to bring us back as customers. I am going back. \r Thanks Jason for providing EXEMPLARY customer service.

I simply love this romantic restaurant. Yes is french and if you have in mind that old idea of few food and pricey, well, here a unique and my best french in town, change this concept. Is the flavors, the romantic ambience, the music, the service..... Also try the Foodys, their bakery-little market. Delicious.

It was an absolute delight.I loved how quaint the setting is. Very classic, outdated in the best way but thats the entire appeal. It was just like being in a quiet little French town with English-speaking waiters and a much louder roudier crowd! Food was fantastic, the Moules Aux Fines herbs was so fragrant and the mussels were fantastic! The Steak Au Piovre......an absolute delight to have such an authentically rare steak, and i subsituted the potatoes for some mozarrella cheese on the side and i almost passed out on the table it was soo good! This is fine french dining, AT ITS FINEST!

I attended a private party here on Saturday the 22nd of October...Congratulations Again. The food was outstanding and the service was top of the line. I remember the place from back in the antique book store days. Although it was a little sad that all the old books are gone, it was well worth the visit. Keep up the great work!

this is probably the only beignet place in houston that i know of that offers that quaint, laid-back ambience with a touch of romanticism and surrealism ... like you're dining in a french cafe tucked somewhere in paris. the space is small and decorated with dimly-lit lights and french/viet trinkets, adding to that effortless charming mood. there's even a patio to enjoy the weather and people watch. i love how you are able to watch them make the beignets right there in front of you, which in my opinion, adds a personalize touch to your dining experience. now you'll get different beignet results, depending who cooks it, and not all staff are friendly ... let's just say some are snooty frenchies ... but you can't beat the deals they offer. they also serve some beignets that have a filling in it (my fav is vanilla) among others: tapioca drinks, ice cream, granitas, cafe au laites, etc. friday and saturday nites caters to a predominantly asian crowd ... and it gets crowded during nite times ...but most definitely you'll have a pleasant beignet experience~!*

Outstanding chicken salad and egg white omlets (build your own). Their cherry pie is one of the best in town! Very polite friendly staff who truly desire to make your breakfast/lunch an enjoyable and memorable one

A co-worker and I went in there because she knew a location in another state and raved about it. Upon entering we found the place to be completely empty. It was about 11am and the chairs were sitting on the tables. There was an oriental guy watching a small tv in the corner. There were no pastries in the display case. We asked if they had anything and the guy pointed to a couple of bags of bread rolls that looked like they were bought from HEB. We left the place with a strange feeling that the location was being used for an underground sort of business. Stay away for your safety if anything.

This little gem of a place was a recommendation from a client. What a true french sandwich. The roll was perfect, crisp and flakely on the outside and nice and soft in the middle. This place has it going. The 20 minute drive is well worth the trip.

Why You'll Love It - French-native Executive Chef Jacques Fox’s much-lauded “French Eclectic” menu - Brand-new restaurant from the brothers behind Le Mistral, Chef David Denis and Sylvain Denis - Open kitchen to witness culinary artistry first hand You’ve probably already heard the buzz about Artisans Restaurant—that its fine French fare and five-star service are seriously upping the ante on Midtown dining. But word-of-mouth can’t capture the vibrant atmosphere on par with the most romantic Parisian street. That side of the story can only be experienced first hand. Sit along the open kitchen with a date and watch the virtuoso chefs craft your pistachio-crusted Chilean Seabass from locally sourced ingredients. Or, take over the private dining room for a celebratory cheer of “bon appetit!” Either way, you’ll leave this soon-to-be Houston staple decidedly in-the-know.

What a delight. I had no expectations and was truly impressed with the wild salmon with quinoa. I am a picky simple person (if that is ever possible). I asked for salmon and they delivered a perfectly cooked piece of fish. The quinoa was slightly over salted but accompanied the fish well. The foie gras was fine as it should be at a French restaurant. I really like this restaurant, the atmosphere was relaxing and also easy to get to with ample parking spaces. What a pleasure.
