Iraj Taghi Custom Homes
We bought a home from a couple which was built by Iraj Taghi. We have discovered several major flaws in the construction that have been very costly to us, but which Mr Taghi has refused to take any responsibility for. Primarily, these were problems with improper installation of the roof on our home, and the leakage and wood decay associated with the leaks only showed up over time. We have spent over $40,000 repairing one roof issue and are about to spend another $10,000 on another. This all gets back to the improper installation of membranes, flashing, etc... which are critical but not apparent to the naked eye.

Marwood Construction
Over the years we felt that our kitchen had surpassed its utility and was becoming an embracement when our friends and family would visit. We found ourselves making excuses and seldom entertaining in our home. We were also not satisfied with how small and closed in it felt. We interviewed 3 general contractors and decided to select Marwood Construction to work with. What I really liked is that I did not feel like I was being sold something. It was like sitting down with an extremely knowledgeable friend. We discussed the options and layouts possibilities, targeted a line by line budget and drew some plans up. Ten weeks later I am in my new kitchen,.... it is fantastic. They made this easy and fun, thanks guys.

Empire Construction Co
Juan de la Barrera is the owner of this company. Thought I was working with a professional but this is a band of family members with no real expertise and no license. Bad paint job, skipped painting a closet and bathroom, poured cement shower pan and it is slanted and water pools on it. They left a waste management bag in my driveway which has not been picked up. They left all sorts of trash from different jobs piled up. Unbelievable, do NOT trust this guy.

Mty Builders Inc
MTY Builders Inc is the worst. They did not have the house ready by closing time even after I pointed out the issues during multiple walk through's. I had to sign an addendum saying they would complete the work within 3 days after closing. They did not complete those repairs as promised. It's been 3 weeks and I am still waiting for some of the repairs to be completed. As I am living in the house, more defect arise. Some are small cosmetic defects like the toilet paper roll holder is not holding, the frame around the water outlets behind the washer came lose, etc. Some defects aren't so minor though. I didn't have a mailbox until 2 and a half weeks after closing. They said I did have a mailbox - I did not. Then they said they removed it. I had to ASK them to install a mailbox - seriously? When they finally did install a temporary mailbox, they did not leave me the key. I'm currently waiting for it. Additionally, the wrong home address was filed to USPS. I can't set up my forwarding address to my new home or have mail delivered. I am wondering how much mail I've missed/lost because of it and whether or not it's important. My water heater failed less than 3 weeks after closing. I have to go through the manufacturer's warranty which may not cover the full cost of installation. Hopefully MTY will assist in the cost. I doubt it will be easy given their track record. It's so difficult to get a hold of anyone in general. My realtor and I have left many messages and it is at least a week before we get some sort of response. They sure were attentive to listening to my needs before closing though. Really they are just full of excuses. They have made my first time home buyer's experience terrible.

Marwood Construction
We approached ‘Marwood Construction’ for building out an unfinished attic space in our home. The way they made the entire plan work was just awesome. Before starting this project, we never had an idea that so many things needed to be taken planed and done. Your team took care of the details and helped us select materials for the finishes. The space turned out great. Thanks!

Marwood Construction
As we have decided to invest a great deal of money in the master suite addition and remodeling project, we were very apprehensive. Patrick made our anxiety and fears wash away through his knowledge, professional conduct and open honest approach. He offered to provide his work through various services agreements if we would accept some of the risk. Although we accepted the lump sum contract, I was impressed that he was willing to provide us additional pricing options and was transparent about such matters.Marwood Construction also did a fantastic job on designing and building out new addition and master suite. They worked clean and kept us on track and informed throughout the entire process.

Marwood Construction
We chose Marwood Construction as one of 3 custom builders to bid on our new home plans and we think that this was one of the best decisions of our life. They were not the lowest bid but we saw the value in their approach. Their web site stated that they were trusted advisers and conducted business transparently. I can testify that me and my wife found Patrick to be very open and honest through the home building 14 month process. I will not say that we did not have our tense moments, but we learned that his recommendations were frequently the right choice. Our only regret is that we did not meet him before we actually designed our home. We found that it would have saved us some money and saved a lot of time.

Got new white high gloss flat panel modern European cabinets installed recently. The kitchen looks like a white futuristic model home and it feels so nice. We get a lot compliments on it.
Tips & Advices
Yes, most custom cabinet makers can also provide countertops, but the price of cabinets does not automatically include the countertops.
Yes, custom cabinets are available for basically any room in the house: bathrooms, bedroom, breakfast room, den, home office, library, and even laundry room.
Custom cabinets are priced by the linear foot. When building out a quote, the cabinet maker will factor in material cost, additional cost for special features, molding and trim, and the labor cost, including installation.
The time window for making custom cabinets varies according to how many workers are on the job. An efficient two-person shop should be able to build five or six cabinets per day. Some will outsource certain components, such as doors or rails, for greater speed. Regardless, woodworkers or cabinet-makers who know what they’re doing aim to finish build and installation within nine to 12 days. That said, many cabinet makers will give a four- to six-week time estimate because they’re also working on other projects, or they want to give themselves a cushion to complete the job. This timeframe does not account for the time needed to design, build the quote, and order any special materials.
Custom-cabinet finish types include stain, varnish, paint, and glaze. Stain and paint are both options for base coats. Varnish and glaze are options to use as topcoats over paint or stain. Acrylic and laminate finishes are used to create a glossy, shiny contemporary look atop engineered wood cabinets.
