Chapelwood is a very diverse church where all spiritual needs are explored and nutured. I especially like Mercy Street on satruday night, a low key service which is a service designed for people who have been burned by the church, recovering alcholics, or people who just want to wear jeans to church. Our minister was even an alcoholic and through god's grace we all can find a path to something that is bigger than ourselves. You can become as involved as you want to be.\r \r Ann

Finally I can say we found a home. My family and I moved back home from San Antonio about a year ago, we have been searching for a church. The praise and worship here is amazing as well as the Preaching!! The Pastor was on point with his teaching and did not sugarcoat the word of God. This church welcomed us with open arms and made us feel at home. My boys loved it!! Praise God we found a home.

Sometimes we think the volunteers are very rude just because they have to help prepare everything at the church runs smoothly. I used to think that way too. I had a visitor who came to visit from Indonesia and wanted to attend Lakewood by the time he was queuing to have Joel Books autographed, a volunteer said no more because it was too long already, please come again next week. he was going back to Indonesia the next day. At another time I reserved the seat for a friend who was coming it was already 15 minutes past the normal service time, a volunteer came and asked me to release the seat to another guest. This is just the job of the volunteer to make everything runs in order for the service. I think we have to put our selves in the volunteers' shoes before we judge them they are rude. Hope everybody will enjoy the Lakewood services like we do.

I was first attracted to this church when I was walking my dog on a Sunday morning and saw these people milling around outside drinking coffee, talking, and laughing with little kids running everywhere. These things are not unusual to see outside a church, but what made me pay attention was the variety of people I saw doing them...people with dreds, young, old, African Americans,Caucasions, Asians, Latinos - and as I got closer, I could hear such a variety of accents...there was all kinds of people from obviously different cultures. And I heard this incredible music coming out the doors. I was interested - or maybe ""intrigued"" is a better word. I went home, threw on some more decent clothes and went back (not that I needed to because it is very casual). That was 9 years ago, and I have never left. I love this church for its diversity, mission, authenticity, values...but most of all, I love this church because of its people.

For 20 years I did not go to a church. Then I found this one and realized that it could nurture my spiritual growth in so many ways without making me feel bad in the process. I love the ministers, the people, the energy, the new sanctuary, and the vision of being a dynamic spiritual center. I have so many friends there I can hardly meet with them all. If you're looking for a place to spark your spiritual growth and keep you motivated and feeling good about yourself, as well as a place to be of more service, this is as good a place as you'll find.

I currently have a 3-year-old daughter at BDCS, and my 7 year-old son is a graduate. We love Bering and have been extremely impressed with the education and teachers. My daughter's class has only 9 children. Both of my children love attending school here, have learned immensely, and I highly recommend BDCS to any of my friends in the area. After completing all 3 years, my son went into kindergarten reading and everything he did in kinder was a repeat of his pre-k class. Students are offered 2 days of music class, 2 days of chapel and 2 days of PE. Most of the children in my son's pre-k class tested into the Vanguard programs in HISD. We are very happy with our choice! By the way, the hours are actually 8-6 pm and their number is 713-780-1299 (not 713-783-2340)!

We began visiting Houston-area churches in the Summer of 2008. We found St. Andrew's when discovering their VBS program for pre-schoolers and elementary school students. We visited around the time we sent our children to Vacation Bible School that Summer. Shortly after that time, we began to know that God was calling us to St. Andrew's as our home church. We've been calling St. Andrew's home for over three years now. We've baptized two of our children there, are active in the community, are a part of an adult sunday school class and really feel a part of what God is doing at St. Andrew's and in the surrounding areas of Houston. We have made lifelong friends since joining St. Andrew's. We particularly love the worship services and are regular attenders of the 915 Contemporary Service. The music is current, contemporary and the band and worship leaders really connect with the pastor's message. Pastor Jeff Smith is extremely thoughtful and articulate. He is a wonderful speaker and he inspires us weekly to connect with God and live the ""kingdom life!"" We feel God's presence at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church!

Annunciation Catholic in downtown Houston, TX (on Texas Ave., across from Minute Maid Stadium) is a wonderful traditional Roman Catholic church.\r \r Monsignor Golasinski is a priest who has served as a priest since before Vatican II, who well remembers the pre-Vatican II mass and teaches many of the basics of the Catholic faith that so many have forgotten over the years.\r \r Annunciation Catholic Church is the only church in Houston, TX that offers both the 1962 Tridentine Mass in Latin (8:00 on Sundays) and the Novus Ordo Mass in Latin (11:00 on Sundays).\r \r If you remember the Latin Mass or want an introduction to the Latin Mass, this is a beautiful place to find it.\r \r

I love this church because of it's thought provoking worship and bible study, the best friends, the fun things we do together, and the incredible campus. But what means the most to me is how the people of South Main Baptist Church continually seek to find ways to live the way Jesus taught us, loving our neighbor as ourselves (feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, clothing the unclothed, visiting the prisoners, etc.).\r I encourage you to try it - you will find comfort and peace.
