Iraj Taghi Custom Homes
We bought a home from a couple which was built by Iraj Taghi. We have discovered several major flaws in the construction that have been very costly to us, but which Mr Taghi has refused to take any responsibility for. Primarily, these were problems with improper installation of the roof on our home, and the leakage and wood decay associated with the leaks only showed up over time. We have spent over $40,000 repairing one roof issue and are about to spend another $10,000 on another. This all gets back to the improper installation of membranes, flashing, etc... which are critical but not apparent to the naked eye.

Blue Star Roofing Contractors
This contractor gave me a quote on servicing my roof and when I called to commit his phone and email were not valid. What happened to him? I like his assessment and it seem he knew what he was doing.

A & A Gomez Roofing
This company put a new roof on my house in 2008. They did a terrible job had been repairing it since 2010, 2013, until now 2017, I had to put a new roof with a different company, of course. They lied about the warranty, they have been charging every time it needed a repair. I do not recommend this company to anyone.

Marwood Construction
Over the years we felt that our kitchen had surpassed its utility and was becoming an embracement when our friends and family would visit. We found ourselves making excuses and seldom entertaining in our home. We were also not satisfied with how small and closed in it felt. We interviewed 3 general contractors and decided to select Marwood Construction to work with. What I really liked is that I did not feel like I was being sold something. It was like sitting down with an extremely knowledgeable friend. We discussed the options and layouts possibilities, targeted a line by line budget and drew some plans up. Ten weeks later I am in my new kitchen,.... it is fantastic. They made this easy and fun, thanks guys.

EZ Floors
Great experience from start to finish. Shane supervised the project and kept us thoroughly informed. Skilled craftsmen operating efficiently. Moved furniture carefully and left house in order and clean. Provided follow up and responded quickly to any questions after project completion. Just as attentive post sale as pre-sale. Strongly recommend Shane as a primary contact.

Rivas Roofing and Gutters, Inc.
Worst roofing company ever! Labor warranty means nothing. Roof still leaks after Rivas supposedly repaired then Rivas argued profusely over fixing it correctly. Incompetent company! I swear he has diarrhea of the mouth--won't let customer talk; terrible customer service! Run away from this company--you'll be totally frustrated if you have to deal with him. Blames his problems on ins adjuster--Rivas won't fix a roof he's messed up because he wants the job of putting on a whole new roof. He'll never get my business. I notice he's not listed in list of 30 recommended roofers after storms--looks like everyone has his number now!

Rivas Roofing and Gutters, Inc.
I see that nothing has changed in 10 years!: I could have copied and pasted the 2012 BAD REVIEW on Rivas! Supposedly fixed roof 8 months ago, still leaking. Tried to get Rivas to make it right; he argued and talked over us--the guy has diarrhea of the mouth! Never, never, ever hire this company--you'll be sorry! Their labor warranty is worth nothing, not to mention they are not roofers!

Empire Construction Co
Juan de la Barrera is the owner of this company. Thought I was working with a professional but this is a band of family members with no real expertise and no license. Bad paint job, skipped painting a closet and bathroom, poured cement shower pan and it is slanted and water pools on it. They left a waste management bag in my driveway which has not been picked up. They left all sorts of trash from different jobs piled up. Unbelievable, do NOT trust this guy.

Tips & Advices
The most common types of roofing material are:
  • Asphalt shingles
  • Metal roofing
  • Slate shingles
  • Concrete roofing
Metal roofing material and algae-resistant asphalt shingles are the appropriate roofing material for rainy climates.
Houses located in  areas which are prone to wildfires, should avoid the use of flammable roofing materials such as wood shingles.
Not only should you ask to get in contact with past clients, it is also recommended that  homeowners visit projects currently underway to see how the contractor or company actually performs during a job. You can also go online and check out other customer reviews.
Reputable roofers do offer a warranty against poor workmanship. Additionally, the material used often carries a warranty from the manufacturer against defects (assuming proper installation). It is the homeowner’s responsibility to check on the availability of all such warranties before any work is performed.
