Opa Greek Tavern
A truly Greek culinary experience, complete with recorded Greek folk music! Our waitstaff person (Vicky) was quite attentive and equally paced the appetizers to entrees to dessert. No rush, no fuss... she's great. The food was phenomenal; began with their Dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) and Keftedes (homemade Greek meatballs)... wonderful but would ask for sour cream or Greek yogurt instead of their marinara side sauce...Then on to the entrée selection of Moussaka (referred to by many as Greek Lasagna)... equally well prepared and so very moist! We so prayed that we would (and did) have room for dessert- what else but Baklava (a rich, sweet pastry made of layers of filo filled with chopped nuts and sweetened (and held together) with honey, indescribably delicious). So, 1) Ask for Vicky, 2) Go hungry!, and 3) ENJOY! The only negative of this experience was they did not yet have their liquor license but by next month all will be just super. Hoping they will carry authentic Greek wines.

RIPCORD
RIPCORD is a friendly gay bar with a very laid back atmosphere. There's a spirit of acceptance for all shades of gay from leather to lesbians, twinks to tranny's and everything in between. RIPCORD is the most diverse gay crowd by hosting a wide range of events from Sunday Show Tunes, Art Shows, Geeks Who Drink and theme parties.... The bottom line is RIPCORD is everything gay. RIPCORD also has the biggest outdoor patio of all the gay bars in the Montrose, pool tables and darts. TV's have videos and regular shows during the week. An unassuming facade with a very welcoming interior. "Bring a friend. Talk to strangers."

Mike's Ultimate Sports Bar
Same crowd, same fat British guy from the efficiency apartments, same dried-up cancerous bar tender, same convicts, same Mount Marley, same Strange Brew, same dart games, same chubby chasers, same everything. But those Big A beers for $3.00 hit the old Spatten. This is not a classy joint,; but they did re-do the bathrooms a few years back.Saw a chick wet her pants, and another light matches on her silicone jobs for all to see. Can see the drug dealers at Food Town the next day shopping with their grandma.Get lost in the Time Machine, be a faithful patron. Don't get too crazy, you too might climb Mt. Marley...

RIPCORD
I first visited RIPCORD in 2001. I've seen it go through a few phases. Some better than others. Fortunately, the new managment has done a great job of bringing the gay bar into a new era of masculinity along with renovated bathrooms, a new paint job, wide range of events, cheap drinks, and friendly bartenders.RIPCORD is a gay bar usually full of 23-55yo men (Bears, Daddy's, Cubs, Twinks) and their LGBTQIA friends. The patio is the largest of all the gay bars in the Montrose and is synonymous with a fun and friendly bears.Basically, a laid back bear bar with pool, darts, and great music.

Bimbo's Beer & Bar B Q
Bimbo's is a great dive bar. Cheap drinks, friendly service, friendlier people. Crazy "decor" of strange stuff all over the place. Went on a Saturday, the place was packed but still enough room to move around. It's a small club and it has some seating outside. The DJ kept the dance floor full (mostly women) when customers weren't singing Karaoke. Interesting mix of younger and older crowd. Anyone would fit in. Not for the trendy, exclusive type, for sure. Great mixed drinks and your standard beer selection. 1 pool table and that's about it. All you need for a great dive bar.

Nanny's Front Porch
I found Gnuoy's / Nanny's Front Porch by accident and what a great find. This small and warm place was HUGE on customer service. It was very clean and well decorated. The Home Style Cooked Breakfast I enjoyed was EXCELLENT in taste and well under priced. In fact after my meal I spoke to Ms. Young (OWNER) and commended her on the quality and value of the meal. I also suggested that she raised her prices on all meal choices because it would be worth it and customers would pay for the value and service provided. Thanks for a great meal and deal.

RIPCORD
So I've been coming to this bar for years. RIPCORD has made some great improvements over the last few months, including drink specials, staff and decor. It's a a far cry from the RIPCORD of the past, but still a great place to meet old friends, new friends and the occasional play thing. You can always find what you are looking for. Great cruising bar...Yummm! Has a great patio, events like 80s night on Friday's and strip pool on Mondays. The bartenders Rock and are sometimes Rock Hard!

West End Pub
U used to play at this bar in the early to mid 90's. I played in prairie wind. Anyway, back in those days I remember the parking lot was packed when we played there. People parked and walk. They had to call the fire marshal out to make sure the bar wouldn't go over it's occupancy limit. Loved playing their about 150 times. I havnt spoken to anyone since those times. I hope Ala is doing ok? She was the owner of the bar when we played there.

Just a moment...
