I have been buying supplies for my home cake business I own & operate from this store for over 3 years now. I have been a loyal customer whom has spent a ton of money with them and have never returned an item until yesterday when I tried to exchange a Halloween costume I purchased just the day before for my 8 year old. When she tried it on at home that evening we realized it was way too big. They would not allow me to carry the costume up to the counter myself, the employee had to bring it up there & leave it with the cashier until I was finished shopping so I never really looked to see if the size was correct or thought I needed to. I was shopping with my friend & when the cashier began ringing us up, before I could stop her she had already added my items to my friends so my friend said that she would just pay for it all with her debit card & I just gave her the cash back right then. When I returned the next day (yesterday) just wanting to exchange the costume, the same cashier that had checked us out the day before was there & so was the manager from the day before. They both remembered us being there & making the purchase yet they would not allow me to even exchange the costume w/out the receipt which of course I did not have on me since my friend was the one who had used her debit card the day before. I live about 20 miles from this store yet the manager refused to do the exchange after me asking him several times to please work with me in some way. I then had to drive to my friends house which is further away than my house, get the receipt & drive back to the store. That's when I realized that the size they gave me in the first place was not what I had asked for because they did not have any mediums in stock, only Large. So, instead of looking at what he was giving me the employee just handed me the only size they had there at the time but did not tell me it was wrong. At this time I speak to the manager and ask him if they can just take my information and call me when they get the correct size in and he was so very rude to me & not at all willing to work with me yet again. He said there is a 48 hour return policy on costumes so that if it did not come in before 1pm the next day I would not be able to exchange it or get my money back after that. This was a Saturday so I knew there was no possible way they would get a truck in by 1pm on a Sunday. I asked him to just give me a refund at that time since he refused to make any type of accretions on my behalf over a $20 costume. Then he asks me if I have my friends debit card?! Really? Do people go around with their friends debit cards on them regularly or something? So, then he tells me that I have to have her debit card to get my refund & I have to be back to do it before the 48 hours was up (which btw, none of these ridiculous so called "company policies" were printed on my receipt nor were they posted anywhere in the store). I had to have my friend meet me back up there, which was yet another 40 mile round trip drive for both of us before today by 1pm. We were finally were able to get the money put back on her card & she just gave me my cash back. The manager at this store was a young man, had to be at least 20 years younger than me & he was so rude & disrespectful to me in front of everyone in that store that I was completely humiliated. The gas, time & complete frustration of all that, over a $20 costume & now my daughter does not have the costume she was so exited to get at all..she is going to be so disappointed if we can not find it someplace else because I will NEVER give this company 1 more penny of my hard earned money or anymore of my precious time that they so rudely took complete advantage of!
