Guntersville Animal Hospital
Excellent place! I can't say enough good things about Dr. Young and his staff. We have been other places over the years but the quality, compassion and friendliness we have always received far exceed any place else. We currently have 2 dogs under Dr. Young's care. One of the dogs was a rescue dog that has had many issues so we have been to the office many times. The care and attention has been terrific each and every time! Everyone is always compassionate and helpful and I have always felt like my 'kids' were getting the best care possible. Dr. Young has performed several surgeries for us and the results far exceeded our expectations. He and his staff are very cost conscious also when providing care and alternatives. We do not feel our dogs would have the quality of life they have if not for the top notch care we have received here. We have also boarded our animals here. I can not imagine there is a better place anywhere in this area. Dale and Sharon Morgan, Albertville, AL

They provide an impressive number of services. They are also a pet adoption / shelter service in association with other local agencies. I am very pleased with how we are treated and the quality of service provided. They are very accommodating setting up appointments quickly and at convenient times. The office manager and veterinary assistants are very helpful, friendly and professional. I appreciate the first-rate care Dr. Young provides our senior cat. Because of his excellent diagnostic capabilities he quickly addresses medical problems. He also provides practical recommendations for at home care. This is a wonderful veterinary hospital and a great team of caring people.

We have a 11 year old pit bulldog that has been a patient of Dr Young and his outstanding staff all of her life. When she was a little over a year old, she was hit by a car and her injuries required extensive surgery to her hips and pelvic area. The Guntersville Animal Hospital Team has shown great compassion for her, sometimes sitting with her in the Kennel when she was first injured and now making sure she is comfortable while boarded with them when we travel. Their facility is beautiful, clean, and their kennels spacious. Several type rooms/kennels are available to meet the needs of all pets and we highly recommend them to everyone.

Dr. Young and his staff are second to no one. I have never known a more compassionate group of people anywhere. My wife, nor I, could ever imagine taking our pets elsewhere. Our pets are treated with more respect by Dr. Young than most humans. His staff, especially Vanessa, make us feel like close family members every time we walk through the door. My family, for one, could never thank GAH enough for all they have done for us over the years. If you want the very best care for your pet, and you want to feel completely comfortable with your service, then take your pets to Dr. Young and his staff. It's a decision you'll never regret.

Guntersville Animal Hospital
By far the best staff and quality customer service. Dr. Young takes his time in discussing various options and service he can provide in caring for my pets. Him and his staff of highly professional personnel are caring and considerate of all my pet’s needs. I have decided to bring my 4 cats and 8 dogs to Guntersville Animal Hospital for all their future needs. I may pay a little bit more and drive further however I feel the one-on-one time Dr. Young takes in discussing my pets needs and options are more beneficial to my pets and worth my time and money.

This Vet makes me believe in miracles. Not only did they save my little baby pygmy goat (which another vet had given up on without a second thought or offer of treatment) but they were caring, sweet and attentive. Truly interested in helping our animal recover to the best it could be. Now, he is a happy little tyke and has a promising future. From now on, they have all of my business and you should give them yours as well.~

We recently brought in our 2 miniature schnauzer puppies. The staff was very welcoming and professional. Dr Young took extra time to answer some questions concerning puppy training. We are excited to have such a great facility so close to us. We received a tour of the facility and I can't begin to explain how neat and clean it was. We will be using Guntersville Animal Hospital for the life of our fur babies!

I couldn't have been happier with my experience at Guntersville Animal Hospital. The staff was friendly and experienced, and Dr. Young did a great job with Bo! I'm sure he won't mind coming back for his next appointment. The facility is top notch, and Bo (dog) was treated so nicely by the staff. I absolutely recommend Guntersville Animal Hospital, and will be taking all of my pets there.

Guntersville Animal Hospital
We absolutely love this place! We were originally using a different clinic, but we were not impressed with the customer service. They couldn't even remember my dogs name! Guntersville Animal hospital is absolutely amazing. All of the staff are incredibly kind, and very personable. The Dr. saved our sweet kitty, and we couldn't be more thankful! Definitely recommend

Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
