We had a engine light on for several years. No one could figure it out, not even the dealer. I was referred to Chuck Coat by an honest mechanic who deserves a great review as well, who said he would fix it without "raking me over the coals" . Now honest mechanics are hard to find and worth their weight in gold, but and honest mechanic that can accurately diagnose a problem is worth his weight in diamonds. He fixed the problem in a day and it was something I feel all the others should have found and it cost less than a night at the movies with the family. 5 stars is not enough. If you can't figure it out, this is the place to go.

I took my 2005 Chevrolet truck to three auto repair shops in Gulfport and none of them could fix my truck. I was recommended to Chuck Coats Automotive by several people so I finally decided to take it to him. My truck had an intermittent running problem that even the local General Motors dealership could not find. I took my truck to Chuck early one morning and he found the problem and called me within a few hours. He repaired my truck for less than I expected, gave me a nationwide warranty and was very friendly. I told my sister about his service and she took her Nissan in for service and was well pleased !

All I can say is this is THE BEST place to get you car fixed. I took my 99' Chevy Silverado there after being overpriced at another shop. My fuel pump was blown and had to have it replaced! The price he gave me was WONDERFUL! This is a HIGHLY recommended place and a VERY respectable place to go! I can't thank Chuck enough for the wonderful deal he gave me and I was able to make it back home to New Orleans safely! I am definitely taking the trip back to get any more work done!

Great Service! Took my Honda to Chuck Coats Auto. He was very nice and helpful. When I went to pick up my car, I was AMAZED to find that not only was it now running GREAT!, but it cost me less than he had originally quoted me! As a woman, I am usually leery about car repair facilities. I have found the one to trust! WOW~Thank You Chuck Coats Automotive for making it a much less painful experience!:)

I locked my keys in my car the other day at the beach. I was freaking out and trying to pry open my already smashed in door with random sticks i found. Richard Bachtel passed me up and like an angel he came to the rescue and unlocked my door. It was very cheap and i would recommend him to everyone.

Good people. I had car troubles while passing through Gulfport. I was in a position where I could have been taken advantage of financially, but Robin was great and very reasonable. He even contacted my mechanic in Atlanta. He got me back on the road and I made it back to Atlanta safely.

Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
