  • good bartending class

ABC Bartending School was a great experience for me. I enjoyed the whole bar set up for a classroom, and the instructors were amazing. The text book was very helpful as well. I was able to make as many notes as I needed to help me remember certain things and certain drinks. The hands on training really helped me improve and understand everything even more, as well. I loved the class, and every time I needed help I was assisted. I highly recommend this program. The class is also affordable. They worked with my schedule as well. I had odd hours at my job, and I was still able to make it to classes on time. After I was finished with the class, the job placement program was very helpful. They helped me search through a variety of places and I found a job in less than a week!

  • I agree with the first review

I am going to the class also, and I feel like I could have bought a book and saved a lot of time. I am supposed to finish tomorrow and the class is canceled, also the class for last Saturday was canceled, I can not leave work earlier any more, so I hope they will let me take the test this weekend. On the other hand if they give me a place to call so I can get some skills... I will be happy... even if it is only $10.00 an hour. I can use those people for a reference, I just hope they did not pack up and leave and I do not get my piece of paper!!!

The manager Chris Nelson represents the class as though experienced bartenders will be teaching many aspects of bartending in a real world setting. This is a lie. In fact, Chris will talk to you only long enough to take your money and then you'll never see or hear from him again. Mike, who admittedly has NEVER WORKED BEHIND A BAR, will proceed on Tuesday to show you +/-40 very generic drink recipies from a book that you will be tested on, about an hour or two of mindless instruction that could be attained by looking at a recipe book. Thursday, you will make fake drinks behind a poorly stocked bar by yourself with no instruction while Mike texts his friends. The following Tuesday a new class will start and Mike won't even acknowledge the students who started the previous week. No bar setup, closing, beer, wine, liquor, flair, or other useful techniques will be conveyed. Furthermore, no job placement is provided. They simply give you the number of a staffing agency that pays no more that $10/hr. for intermittent event labor. Also, even if you do complete the course Chris will not return your prospective employers calls for a reference. Worst of all, the school has lost its accreditation, which they don't tell you, so with no reference all you get from this class is a worthless piece of paper, if you're lucky. I went to the school from Asheville and the school wouldn't even send me my certificate, so I filed a claim against them through Visa which will hopefully get them dropped as a vendor. Lastly, although it did not happen to me, ABC Bartending has a history of charging peoples' cards multiple times and refusing refunds for the erroneous charges or for dissatisfaction. DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO PAY MORE AND TRAVEL FURTHER. Still considering it? Don't take my word for it, look them up on the Better Business Bureau's website and you will find negative reviews there as well. I hope you make a better decision than I did.

    Good luck.
