Preferred Choice Heating And Air Conditioning
On June 22, 2010, we bought a Trane Heat Pump, an energy efficient unit, from Preferred Choice Heating & Air Conditioning. Bradley Tate and his employees did a very professional job. They installed the unit outside, working almost nonstop except for lunch. Then the thermostat and return was installed on the inside. Their mess was cleaned up on the inside and out. When I say mess, I mean they took off the old unit, packaging, etc. Then the thermostat was tested to make sure the new unit was working properly. We found this just as important as part of the job. We have had other companies to install appliances in our home; however, they did not test the appliances before they left. We had to call these other companies to come back out. So that is why we can say Preferred Choice Heating & Air Conditioning is a very thorough and professional company. We have always kept records of all bills we pay. See below what we saved on our power bill since the new unit was installed. The June bill came in before the unit was installed and July's power bill has a few days of the old unit's charges.Power Bill savings from 2009to 2010.July: $51.92August: $82.39September: $60.20October: $27.91November: $25.55The January 2010 statement was our highest power bill of $321.26. We can't wait to see what we will have saved on our January 2011 bill!Jane & Dennis B.Greenville

Dipple Plumbing, Inc
Awesome Company! Hiring a plumber isn't usually a pleasant experience until you meet the plumbers at Dipple. I have hired them twice now to fix issues with my sink and have been so impressed with their professionalism, promptness, and speedy work. I was also impressed with their rate book that had everything spelled out for me so I DID NOT feel like I was being ripped off. I have Dipple on speed dial now and have recommended them to my friends and family. Hire with confidence!

Palmetto Appliance Professional
Our washer broke and was under a Home Depot Protection Plan warranty. They sent Palmetto Appliance out to service it 5 times. 3 months later we learned there was nothing actually wrong with the washer at all, but the voltage coming from the plug was not enough to power the washer. The maintenance tech at our apartment replaced the plug and now it works. Wish Palmetto would have troubleshooted and figured that out long ago though.

Palmetto Appliance Professional
Palmetto Appliance saved my time by allowing me to order the part I needed to repair my oven without a service call. Steve came out on the day/time agreed upon, and he quickly and efficiently repaired my oven. They honored my service agreement with American Home Shield, but when I need another repair, I will definitely ask for Palmetto Appliance.

Long Heating & Air Conditioning Inc
Long's did not respond to weekend call; we were 36 hours without heat. No return calls were made as promised unless we called them. Finally went with another company.

Correction! Just found out we weren't given correct information from Duke Energy rebates division. General AC did give us the correct information!!
Tips & Advices
You can keep your air conditioner running efficiently with some preventative care measures. Shut off the power to your AC before cleaning it or performing any of these tasks:  clean your filter at least twice a year; remove leaves and twigs from cages; clean the fins with a garden hose or special spray, then use a butter knife to straighten any that are crooked; keep your yard clean so the fins won't get blocked; cover the unit up for winter; and make sure it's level or you run the risk of damaging the inner workings of the unit.
To clean your air conditioner drain, first shut off the power to your unit at both the thermostat and the breaker. Then remove the drain pan. If the pan is full of water, soak up the liquid with a few towels or rags or use a wet vacuum. You can use a solution of water and distilled vinegar, or substitute peroxide for the vinegar, to clean out the drain pipe. Let the pipe sit for a while in the solution and then put all the parts back in place. Once you start using your air conditioner on a regular basis, check it periodically to ensure condensation isn't building up.
If you happen to live in a hot and humid area of the country, drainage problems can occur with your unit since moisture can trap itself inside the system. Routine maintenance can cut down on drainage issues by cleaning out any mold or algae from blocking the drain. If you notice moldy smells whenever you turn the thermostat down, check on your system.
If you notice your system is acting inconsistently, the sensor is most likely out of place. Turn off the unit and reach behind its control panel while carefully bending the sensor back into place near the evaporative coil.
Find out where the noises are coming from. A banging or clanking sound could be due to a loose part. If you hear a hissing sound, it's most likely because of a refrigerant leak and you should contact an HVAC technician as soon as possible.
