Kool Smiles
Pros of this location: *Play area and video games to keep kids entertained during wait*Large waiting area*Most of the staff was very friendly and the kids liked them (they were silly and cut up with the kids to help them relax*Bi-lingual (which doesn't affect us, but is great for other families)*Wait time was average*Appointments can be made online, and you can get reminders and updates online and via text*Their hours of operation are convenientCons of this location:*Not in what I would consider and ideal location- I honestly was a little uneasy in that area. *Some of the reception staff were not friendly nor very helpful- I had to keep probing and pushing for answers and got attitude from one in particular.*The staff member who brought my daughter back out and did the post-check consult spoke/understood almost no English, which was very unhelpful. Our reasons for choosing Kool-Smiles were because they accept children's Medicaid plans, and b/c our previous dentist left my kids mouths in need of emergency care after he neglected to do things that needed to be done and from not doing things correctly. This was only our first experience with this Kool-Smiles, and though it got off to a rough start, I think we will give them another shot. I would recommend them so far. We have another appointment in a week for some follow-up treatment, and will review again based on that.

I am terrified of dentists. Most people see this as a irrational fear (especially dental professionals). For this reason I have not seen a dentist for over a decade except for emergency purposes. Dr. Scott and his wonderful staff made me feel at ease. With all the work they had to do for me they took many hours working. When I got in the chair (even after some medication help) I was shaking from fear. They gave me a blanket as a security blanket, and just talked to me until I calmed down. They made me feel like they cared about my feelings. They were patient, kind and considerate. They explained everything with each move or sound, I knew exactly what was going to happen and what to expect. There was no judgment on my fears, they made me feel like I was the most important part. I now am in phase one of three to get my teeth healthy again. But already have my smile and my self confidence back! Today I went by for a quick easy appt. I was NOT scared, NOT nervous! Even the receptionist was considerate to my needs, and allowed me to request a specific nurse. I recommend Dr Scott to anyone especially people with fears. Thank you Carolina dental for making a great experience for me!

Matthew Kormylo
It's hard to find a good dentist. I have used Dr. Kormylo in the past, but now live in Atlanta. I had a cracked tooth that had become infected. I went to a dentist in Atlanta who took x-rays and said the tooth needed a root canal and a crown. After calling around it seemed that it would be almost 3k in total cost. Since it was a serious procedure I decided to drive to Greenville to use Dr. Kormylo. When he looked at the x-rays, he said he thought there was a chance he could save the tooth without a root canal. While he knew he could make a lot more money just performing the root canal, he's such a perfectionist he looked at it like a challenge to save the tooth. The end result was the tooth being repaired without a root canal, and since he repaired it I no longer need a crown. I ended up with a perfect looking tooth at a small fraction of what I expected to pay. While everyone's situation is different, I would highly recommend Dr. Kormylo as he is a perfectionist and clearly has the patient's long-term dental health in mind, rather than just trying to make a quick buck and move on to the next patient(which it seems like most dentists do).

We have been very pleased with Dr. Tom and his staff. They are very timely with their appointments, and Dr. Tom and his staff have done a great job with my daughter's teeth. She will be getting her braces off soon, and she will have a beautiful smile! Dr. Tom had to do some extra work on one of my daughter's teeth in order to get it to turn properly. This was not included in the cost we were originally quoted, but he did not charge us any extra. Dr. Tom's patients are treated as individuals and not just a number and my daughter has really appreciated that. They do a great job of making their patients feel special! We would highly recommend Dr. Tom!

Precision Dental
The staff at Precision Dental is amazing. Extremely polite and friendly from the moment I walked in the door. Being new in town, this was my first visit. I was definitely nervous, because I had been with my previous dentist for 12 yrs. Dr. Groce let me know that my previous dentist had been doing a good job (always good to hear!), and I did not think that anything she suggested was unnecessary. I did need to get a couple fillings replaced. But she made this experience relatively pain free. I'm actually considering asking her about replacing others. I'm glad that I gave Precision Dental a try. They have definitely gained a loyal patient.

Dr. Tom and his staff are so amazing! They are always smiling and welcoming, and they really do care about their patients. I really love that Dr. Tom is so generous. He has hosted two amazing patient appreciation days, and he still finds ways to give back. Doctor Tom has an Xbox in the waiting room, free hot chocolate, coffee, or tea, and several prizes that you can enter to win. Dr. Tom and his wonderful staff made my smile so beautiful that I have smiled more than ever, and it's all thanks to his kind and caring hard work and amazing staff. So thank you Dr. Tom and staff, for being the best Orthodontist in the whole world! :)

We just moved here and brought the kids in for the first time there and everyone was nice and friendly but I took pictures of my 4 year old and by this time took a few and no one said a word to me and room full of nurses and then a rude dentist said something to me (not knowing i wasn't allowed ) about taking pictures. After that it made the visit weird and uncomfortable for our first visit . I have been to a lot of dentist who never said about pictures . Parents like to make memories of the first visit somewhere .i know things happen but unsure if we will go back

Ronald S. Wilson, DMD
After having an awful experience at Precision Dental/fka Augusta Street Dental Associates I went to see Dr. Wilson at the recommendation of a friend. I am so happy I did! Not only was he more experienced and knowledgeable but he was also friendly and patient and seems like a genuinely good person who cares about his patients. I was impressed with everything from the comfort and design of the office to the high tech equipment he has available to make your examination as easy and accurate as possible. I fully recommend him to anyone!

This was the only dentist who would accept me as a CHEMO patient and made sure to have a signed release from my oncologist before I could even get any x-rays done. It may be a child's dental office but I sure am glad they cater to a coward like me. The staff are all FANTASTIC, compassionate and very sweet. I drive an hour and a half one way from Flat Rock, NC and wouldn't go any where closer now if I could. I love this office and just wanted everyone else to know how great they all are! Tips & Advices
  • If a tooth decays and the nerves or pulp (soft internal tissue which helps teeth develop) become inflamed or infected
  • If a tooth is cracked or broken and nerves are exposed
This generally depends on any specific issues you wish to address with your teeth. There are toothpastes designed to whiten teeth, fight cavities, decrease sensitivity, prevent bad breath, resist gingivitis, and those specific to children (with lower fluoride content). There are also toothpastes that offer “complete” protection by combining aspects of many of the above toothpastes.
It’s recommended to get a professional cleaning at least two times per year.
  • Desensitizing toothpaste numbs the nerves in the teeth that can cause discomfort.
  • Mouth guard can protect against grinding teeth during sleep.
  • Fluoride treatment can be applied by dentists to sensitive areas to numb teeth and strengthen enamel.
  • Root canal can treat problems in a tooth’s core.
  • Surgical gum graft where a piece of gum tissue is removed from a section of the mouth to cover an exposed root.
Not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth removed, but there are certain signs that can help you and your doctor determine if yours should be:
  • Wisdom teeth are pushing other teeth around, causing pain and misalignment
  • Cysts form around newly emerged wisdom teeth, causing jaw damage
  • Gums get inflamed and swollen, causing cavities and pain
  • Doctor determine from x-rays that wisdom teeth will cause problems in the near future

Just a moment...
