All I can say is, first 2 reviews are true.Gym is good but sales people are pushyDon't believe that they will refund your money in any case. They promise but they refuse Also, ohh my god!! Don't go for that personal session which is free first time. Because that is the game start to grab your money, they are fooling and you will feel like you are in a tourist place where you have to hold your pocket, otherwise you will be robbed sofestically
LA Fitness in Greensburg PA may be a good gym but the staff is so aggressive or just plain inept. They will not allow you to use the three day pass. I got a lame excuse that the holidays had a lot visitors coming in and trying the gym for free. I have a license that shows that I live up the street. They try to get you to sign up even if you have questions. Even over the phone...the manager Mike tried to get me to set an appointment even when I said I couldn't pin down a time and then he tried to charge my credit card even when I said I didn't like that no one could answer my question about the classes. The person signing me up said "Oh I don't know, I don't work in that area". He told me to ask the instructor. I told him to find out for me and call me...I am the client he is trying to get me to sign. I was sitting in front of him and he couldn't close the deal because he couldn't look into it. When I asked about the special price of $99 down and $30 a month he said that if I signed up online I was subject to price increases and pulled out a piece of paper with proposed increases. Then I asked if I sign up online would he get a commission; he said no. I was told that they would not honor the three day pass...ever. Then I learned that if they do, no one will get a commission. ugh. I want to go there, I just don't trust them.
I joined Westmoreland athletic club and was told it was month to month and I can quit at any time. When I went to resign my membership, I was told I couldn't because I needed to resign in person. I was told billing was complete for the following month. Even though nothing had been charged to my credit card for the following month. This was prior to month end. When I stopped by to cancel in person as opposed to email my cancellation, I was told I couldn't cancel because I could only cancel with the person I was emailing with who wasn't there. I was deceived when I joined about the ease of the membership. No one verbally said to me I needed 4 days notice to cancel. It was portrayed me that it was easy quit, one of their selling points over LA fitness. To top off they blamed accounting which I know is not true.This comes to business practices not accounting issues. Especially since they had not even charged my credit card at this time. They will say anything to get you in the door and make it difficult to quit. It's not about the $20 it's about operating a business with integrity and honesty. Bottom line if you give them money be prepared for them to screw you out of some more when your done with their services.
Stay away from LA Fitness. They are overpriced. Their sales people are pushy and their customer service is awful. I signed up to have a personal trainer 4 times a month. My contract states that they will take money out of my accout at the beginning of each month. They are now taking out the money every 3 to 4 weeks instead of at the beginning of month, like the contract states. They are not holding up their end of the contract with me. They refuse to cancel my contract. I am stuck with this contract for another 6 months. Do not sign up for a membership at LA Fitness.
My experience at this gym was horrible. I was a member for a year--(because they make you sign a year contract).When my son was deployed they would not cancel his membership (and continued to charge his card) unless he formally wrote them, or came in to cancel.They never have towels available to wipe down machines.Their "free" wifi does not work, when you ask the front desk employee, they shrug at you.I was sent to tanning beds at least 6 times within the year, where they would forget to turn it on.The locker room is dirty.When I tried to cancel the week before the renewal, I would ask the front desk employee, who would shrug and state that there is not anyone there to do so--when I call, they don't return my calls to cancel. They charged my card again for membership, for which I am rejecting with my cc company.The locker room is dirty. I now am a month to month member at very friendly and clean Planet Fitness and could not be happier.
