Triad Healthy Gums
I visited my dentist on 4-14, with a cracked tooth, at which time she informed me I needed to have the tooth removed & consider my 2nd implant! I did not have a good experience with my 1st implant, & asked her to refer me to another periodontist. She referred me to Dr. James Tanner & called his office to make the appointment. Upon arriving at Dr. Tanner's office, I was greeted by Danielle with a smile & professional, friendly courtesy. She handed me paperwork to be filled out, and immediately Amy came out to get me. Amy is one of the most friendly, professional nurses I have ever met, warm and made me feel calm and comfortable. My tooth & gum had become infected and need to be removed immediately! Dr. Tanner came in to greet me, showed me the x-ray film of my gum & tooth & advised me because of the inflammation & infection, I needed surgery immediately to remove the tooth. I was immediately made to feel comfortable. Dr. Tanner & his staff were the most professional, yet friendly and nice & immediately made this experience painless & what impressed me the most, was the fact that I arrived at 3:40 pm and because I needed immediate extraction of my tooth, Dr. Tanner & his staff stayed later than regular office hours to make sure I was taken care of and okay to drive myself home. I have never had a better experience from any professional Dr. or dentist. I would recommend Dr. Tanner & his staff to anyone needing any periodontal treatment! Thank you so much Dr. Tanner & your wonderful friendly staff! I will tell all my friends and family about you! J. Campbell

Alan Watson Irvin, DDS
As an Invisalign patient of Dr. Irvin's and the mom of two kids who have had traditional braces with him, I can honestly say we are thrilled with our smiles! He is very efficient in his scheduling and his timeline for treatment was very precise. He also has the most up to date scanning equipment so no messy trays for molds but rather a 3d computer instead! We had been to another orthodontist early on and after 18 months in braces, learned that my daughters ectopic eruption problem hadn't been resolved so we were referred by our pediatric dentist to Dr. Irvin's office- being told he had the experience to handle our case. That was years ago and not only did he correct my daughters smile, but I was so impressed with him and her smile that I decided to consider braces myself...but decided to go with the Invisalign because of the removable trays and fewer appts. I'm so glad I did! He is an elite provider for Invisalign (which means he does more Invisalign than any other local orthodontist or dentist) and after a year of wearing the trays, I now have the straight teeth and beautiful smile I had as a teenager. My son has had phase one and is going to be completing phase two soon. We like that we have the option of Invisalign or traditional braces for him as well. Whatever we decide, we know we are in excellent hands. Thank you Dr. Irvin! You and your staff are the best.Jeanna ColeSummerfield, NC

Carolina Smiles
Most people do not like going to the dentist and I was certainly one of those people. But my experience at Carolina Smiles was very enjoyable. The staff was very courteous and the doctor was great. The doctor took his time during my exam and explained my options and showed me my x-rays where he identified a small cavity I had. Later that week I had the cavity filled. Normally a big baby about needles I barely felt a thing when they numbed me up. I would definitely recommend this office!!

Carolina Smiles
After calling several offices in an attempt to have a tooth looked at they were able to get me right in that day. I was very impressed with the professionalism of the staff as they were very helpful in explaining my insurance. The Doctor was great, very professional and very thorough! I called Carolina Smiles on a Friday b/c "my" dentist was closed...of course...but I have found a new dentist and would highly recommend this office.

Prenard R Mickens DDS PA
Dr Mickens returned my emergency call within 2 hours and saw me less than 6 hours later on a Saturday. I was 30 minutes late because I had to hunt for a ride and he waited for me. My tooth couldn't handle the dam clamp and broke off, which caused me to have a mild panic attack. Dr Mickens was able to work with me despite my dental phobia. I have never gotten such painless shots on the gum line. He's cool, calming, and pleasant.

Dental Works
I love the energy from the staff... they always complement my dental hygiene and are very helpful with suggestions if needed. I'm very comfortable every time I go. I'm normally always in and out... and in 3 years, I've only had to wait 30 mins, once. Go see them, you won't be disappointed...

Smiles By Morrison
Dr Morrison is the best. I've gone to him for years, and know all the staff by name now. They regularly call to keep me on schedule for my visits to keep my teeth healthy. Thankfully I haven't had any major work needed, but I would be comfortable getting it done here if the need arose.

There are not many dentist is Greensboro that take Medicaid and this dentist is awesome. They have tvs all through the place you can go back with your children. There are Xbox's in the waiting area. The doctor is so great with the kids. The girls that clean the kids teeth are great.

Mango & Langdon DDS
This practice is wonderful! I left another practice because the office manager was very rude to me and I do not need that. I have been a patient here for 4 years and I love it. I don't like going to the dentist, but I know when I need to, I know they will take good care of me! :)

Tips & Advices
  • If a tooth decays and the nerves or pulp (soft internal tissue which helps teeth develop) become inflamed or infected
  • If a tooth is cracked or broken and nerves are exposed
This generally depends on any specific issues you wish to address with your teeth. There are toothpastes designed to whiten teeth, fight cavities, decrease sensitivity, prevent bad breath, resist gingivitis, and those specific to children (with lower fluoride content). There are also toothpastes that offer “complete” protection by combining aspects of many of the above toothpastes.
It’s recommended to get a professional cleaning at least two times per year.
  • Desensitizing toothpaste numbs the nerves in the teeth that can cause discomfort.
  • Mouth guard can protect against grinding teeth during sleep.
  • Fluoride treatment can be applied by dentists to sensitive areas to numb teeth and strengthen enamel.
  • Root canal can treat problems in a tooth’s core.
  • Surgical gum graft where a piece of gum tissue is removed from a section of the mouth to cover an exposed root.
Not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth removed, but there are certain signs that can help you and your doctor determine if yours should be:
  • Wisdom teeth are pushing other teeth around, causing pain and misalignment
  • Cysts form around newly emerged wisdom teeth, causing jaw damage
  • Gums get inflamed and swollen, causing cavities and pain
  • Doctor determine from x-rays that wisdom teeth will cause problems in the near future
