Otten's Custom Roofing
Ottens roofing replaced my roof last week. They did a great job! Scott even repaired an area I hadn't originally asked to be repaired. He took the extra time to do it. The work was done well and in a timely matter. The area was cleaned after each day. He used quality materials and I know my roof is secure for many years to come! I would highly recommend Ottens!

Red Line Construction
I hired this person to install a metal roof. It took him 21 days on a 2 day job. He was paid in full and than left with the job half done and the half that was done was horrible! He ruined my roof. Do not hire this guy he is a thief!

Ebels Construction Management
The owner of this company has trouble retaining employees due to horrible unprofessionalism and inability to properly run a business, which in turn results in late completion as well as work that is not up to par, I would reccomend using any company other than Ebels they are ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Also be prepeared to watch employees show up late and spend half the day on their phones or smoking. Please dont harm your business by hiring these people. It will make YOU look bad.

Mr Roof of Grand Rapids
I had Mr Roof come do some work based on their many years in business, and BBB accreditation. Unfortunately if they are capable of good service, I must be an exception. They we were not the cheapest quote by a long shot, but I was not deterred because I was willing to pay more to make sure the job was done right. First, they quoted new decking, which they did not replace. Only after I called them on it, did they say they would take it off the bill. Second, The clean up left trash all over my neighbors yard, they said they wouldn't clean up because it was on someone else property. (no fences between the two, could have just asked the neighbors, or told me.) Third, my largest issue of ice damming, (Pre-existing to MR Roof) was not addressed. I told them as a disabled veteran, I was not able to climb a ladder in the middle of winter to deal with the ice damming. If the damming issue were not fixed, then there was no point in putting on a new roof. Fourth, the roof looks like a cut-rate company did it. They did not quote flashing, which should have been done. They did not ask if I wanted the flashing done (easy upsell?). I expected a professional company to come and make sure my roof, as a system, looked well, and performed like it should. I was not overly concerned with price as long as it was done right. I was deeply disappointed with the final result, and now I am having difficulty getting anyone to respond to, or help me find a solution to my complaints. They tell you their product is top notch and their service is #1. I am greatly disappointed with both. I urge anyone I discuss roofing and home improvement with to not use Mr Roof.

Diekevers Roofing
7 years ago Diekevers Roofing replaced (not second layered) the entire roof on our house. We were pleased until finding out the following information and their response. This year (6/2016) we had an addition put on the home by a highly recognized builder and the builder shared that there was no ice/water shield, and clearly not over the last row of shingles located at the eves. It was evident as the builder replaced the rotten wood from water leaking back into area over the years. The damage was behind aluminum fascia, hence not visible. When brought to attention of Diekevers Roofing, I was promised it would be looked at and they would let me know what they found. 5 weeks passed; verbal, fax and email correspondence later in which they did not respond, they (President of Diekevers) stated they looked at it 3 weeks ago and everything was fine.BUT, then proceeded to tell me that "MY WARANTEE ON THEIR WORK HAD EXPIRED and they were too busy to do anything further. Yes, the warrantee had expired. Stupid me to think I would need to check up on work that was not as completed as agreed on the service order and despite the charge being on the invoice. How a company respond to an issue is a reflection of the organization, management and owner !!! I believe they have shown their true colors...This is 100% truth and I have the documentation and correspondence to prove it.

Allied Roofing & Siding Co
Came out, gave a reasonable quote, and then fell off the face of the earth for several weeks. Never returned calls, faxes, emails. Several weeks later they contacted us saying they'd be ready to do our roof... Only to fall off the face of the earth again. They'll come out, act professional and even give you a great quote but if you're looking for someone reliable, or who will even just give you the courtesy of communicating with you.... This is not the company. Seek out another roofing company. It's not hard to find a professional company who will give you the courtesy of calling you back... Especially when you're willing to throw money at them. If you're looking to get the run-around, this is the company for you!

Tips & Advices
The most common types of roofing material are:
  • Asphalt shingles
  • Metal roofing
  • Slate shingles
  • Concrete roofing
Metal roofing material and algae-resistant asphalt shingles are the appropriate roofing material for rainy climates.
Houses located in  areas which are prone to wildfires, should avoid the use of flammable roofing materials such as wood shingles.
Not only should you ask to get in contact with past clients, it is also recommended that  homeowners visit projects currently underway to see how the contractor or company actually performs during a job. You can also go online and check out other customer reviews.
Reputable roofers do offer a warranty against poor workmanship. Additionally, the material used often carries a warranty from the manufacturer against defects (assuming proper installation). It is the homeowner’s responsibility to check on the availability of all such warranties before any work is performed.
