Universal Overhead Door Co
I called Tom this morning after our garage would not open. He asked a few questions, and knew right away what was wrong. A few hours later he was at my house fixing the problem (snapped spring). Thankfully, he was able to take care of it for a very reasonable price (originally I was thinking the whole door would need to be replaced, so this was a relief), and was also able to fix a few things the original installer did not do correctly. The spring installed was clearly superior to the original one, and I felt that he took extra time to make sure the whole door was in good working order (not just fixing the problem and jetting out). I would absolutely suggest anyone call him for quick service that is fairly priced, but more importantly thorough and solid.

My garage door spring cable came unwound, several rollers bent the tracks all up when they came out of the tracks and the door looked twisted beyond repair. I shopped for and found a new door, hardware and closer then contacted Universal Overhead Door company to install the new door. Tom, the owner of UOD asked if I had purchased the new door yet and if not, don't purchase before he checked things out. Tom came out and within 30-40 minutes had my existing door, tracks and closer working better that they ever had! Tom saved us about $1500.00! This man is AWESOME in his knowledge, workmanship and is the ONLY repair I will recommend to friends or hire to work on my garage doors.

Action Door Inc
A year ago our old garage door was falling apart and we needed a new one ASAP. Action Door had a competitive price and they made a point of giving us priority so we had the new door before the Thanksgiving holiday. We did run into a problem with the Genie door opener. Randy Olsen went out of his way to solve that problem. In the end that particular model of Genie was found to have a history of problems. Action Door upgraded our door opener model and we have not had a problem since. Where Genie gets only two stars for a bad model, Action Door gets four stars for outstanding service... I highly recommend them.

Tom was wonderful. He was extremely busy but squeezed us in after we had an emergency with our garage door (it also involved the back hatch of our SUV but we'll let that go). He came out, fixed the problem and then he checked the entire door. He found a rusted cable that would soon need to be replaced. He replaced the cable, greased the rail and even fixed the very loud rattle the door made when it went up! He accomplished all of this in under an hour and the charge was VERY REASONABLE. We are so happy with his work and would highly recommend him.

I must say Tom is what some might say "A craftsman of his trade". Was very impressed of his knowledge in an industry that gets no attention until it breaks. He took the time to explain what happened and how he was going to repair the cable...spring..pulley's so that it won't happen for another 30 years. He also fixed a potential problem on the other side for "cost of part only" (at a discount) If you have a broken garage door..or one that needs adjustment, I highly recommend Tom and his company. Tom thanks so much for your quick service on our garage door! Our cables broke and the door came off track and bent it as well. We thought we would have to wait a couple of months to save up money to have a more expensive company come fix it, but little did we know that right around the corner was someone who could some fix it in a jiffy, and saved us hundreds of dollars! Recommending him to my father now who's door is broken as well. Thanks so much!

15 years ago we used Tom to fix our door at our old house and he did a great job, so this Tuesday morning, 7/3, we woke up to find our spring broke on our door and we could not open it by hand. we called Tom and he told us what to try and when it did not work, he came over and repaired it. He was there within an hour after calling him and now our door is better than ever. we will always use him. Thanks Tom.

West Michigan Door Company
We are very pleased with the service we received from West Michigan Door today. The spring on our garage door broke and we couldn't get our car out this morning. I called West Michigan Door and a service man was at our home in less than 2 hours. It only took him about a half hour to replace the spring. The cost was very reasonable and the service man, Mike, did an excellent job! Thank You!
Tips & Advices
Monthly, carefully observe the door as you open and close it. If you hear or see anything unusual, take a closer look. The regular motion could loosen up some of the hardware, so take a few minutes to tighten everything up. Also, be sure that tracks, tires, and other moving parts are lubricated. If your door is painted, make sure it isn't chipped or peeling. Deteriorating paint on a wooden door could let moisture in, which leads to warped doors, while a steel door could rust.
On average, a new garage door installation will cost around $1,000. Most homeowners end up paying somewhere between $740 and $1,400, including the installation and the door itself.
It depends. For someone who tackles home improvement projects, installing a garage door might be a viable do-it-yourself project. An experienced wood or metal worker can install with the right materials, tools, and knowledge. Someone less experienced should contact a professional. Depending on the size, a door could weigh as much as 200 pounds, though some smaller or uninsulated ones could be less than 100 pounds.
If you begin to notice this around a change in seasons, check the lubricant on the tracks. Weather patterns will affect lubricant's effectiveness. Dirt or debris on the tracks could also be the cause; make sure they're clear and clean. If the tracks look fine, make sure the doors are hung evenly.
It could mean your tracks are either dented, falling, or otherwise misaligned. Misaligned or damaged tracks can cause the door to cease working or fall off its tracks. If your door is stuck, slanted, or looks unstable, call a professional who will have the right tools to fix the problem.
