I was referred by the members on Subaruforester.org because my stage III 04 FXT had constant misfire. I got my heads back rebuilt and valves adjusted. Heads were so clean I didn't recognize them. We put my heads back on with arp studs, the engine is misfire free, quiet and smooth. Good price, good turnaround and beautiful work on my heads.

We sent in a customers EJ20 heads for freshening and hybrid chamber work. The heads came back so clean they were almost unrecognizable. Riley's car is making 450whp and it runs better than we hoped.

Worst business I have delt with yet. I took my block, crank, a few other parts down to have them hot tanked, block honed, and new (provided) cam bearings put in. After 6 weeks all that had been done was a few parts were hot tanked, my crank and block still sat in the exact same place as I dropped them off. Then he has the gall to tell me the bill is going to be $490 for the work because "He thinks his time is valuable" (apparently mine isn't). I called 5 other shops, prices ranged from $90-$200 with longest guaranteed turn around of 3-5 days. What really infuriates me is that I had stopped by twice in the 6 week period to find him working on his own personal race car. When I called on week 5 to check on it he tells me they have been really busy getting it ready and now it needed a roll cage and mine will be another week. How he found the time for personal work BEFORE doing work for his paying customer's is beyond me.I paid the ridiculous $45 he charged to [poorly] wash my oil pan and valve covers and took it to another shop.If you want to come second to personal work and pay 4-5 times as much as another shop will charge then ASF is the place for you.

Simpson Brothers Garage
We experienced serious car problems on our way home to Wisconsin from California. They addressed the problem, and had us back on the road in less than two hours. They also took us to a place to get something to eat, called us when our car was ready, and picked us up. The mechanic even worked on the vehicle over his lunch hour so they could get us on our way. I cannot say enough about the wonderful service we received. They are truly a five star operation!

Did a head gasket on my daughters car and it has left her stranded 3 times within the last 2 months. Twice for the same fuel clip and now the timing belt that they installed failed. They refuse to pay for a tow and were rude on the phone and told me to take them to court. These guys are a joke.

Parker Machine Works
Took the engine there to be rebuilt. Ed talked to me for nearly an hour and a half. I asked if this engine would run 10 years after he rebuilds it and he said it would run longer than that. Ed Parker was paid $1500 on Oct. 27, 2016 and since we've been driving it the newly rebuilt engine has been making more and more noise. Had two other mechanics listen to the engine and both say the noise is deep in the engine and if the builder stands behind his work he'll tear it down and fix the problem. Ed Parker was called and asked to listen to his rebuild. He agreed to listen to it if we brought it down, but the noise is so bad we're afraid to drive it. We let him know the noise is getting louder and we've called Ed Parker twice to have him come to our house to listen to the engine, but he says if it hadn't blown up in the first 400 miles it will be fine!! What? The other mechanics said it's going to blow-don't know when, but it's going to go... So, now what? We've stopped driving it. Are we just out of a pick-up 'cause he won't stand behind his work? I will gladly change or update my post here if Ed fixes his rebuild. This is posted on 1-19-2017. Please, Ed, Call Us and Let's Work This Out.

Have purchased 2 vehicles. Both everyday drivers. Very good selection, looks like there is something for everyone there.
Tips & Advices
Crank grinding is a process that's done to improve the performance of a car's engine. The crank is a key part of the engine, and it bears the brunt of force created by the engine's combustion and the downward motion of its pistons. In crank grinding, a grinding wheel is used to grind and polish parts of the crank that are rough and worn.
Auto engine rebuilding is the process of refurbishing an old or damaged car engine. In this process, the engine is removed from the vehicle and completely disassembled, and components like the O rings, bearings, and gaskets are replaced. The key advantage offered by auto engine rebuilding is that it's less expensive than replacing an old engine with a new one.
Wheel grinding involves using a grinding wheel to refurbish certain engine parts for reuse. Wheel grinding is often used on the crankshaft, and this involves using the wheel to remove materials from the part's main and rod journals. Wheel grinding is usually applied to the crankshaft if the part's journals have suffered wear that makes them no longer smooth.
A valve job is a procedure that's performed to improve the functioning of a four-stroke engine. A valve job involves resurfacing the areas of the engine's poppet valves and valve seats that make contact. Valve jobs are mainly performed on high-performance vehicles, but they might be necessary on standard passenger cars that have experienced overheating, material failure, high mileage, or foreign object damage.
Automotive machine shops repair and rebuild car components. They offer services like cylinder head rebuilding, crankshaft grinding, rod reconditioning, radiator repair, cracked head and block repair, and the welding of metals on all parts of your car. Automotive machine shops also offer block and jug boring, as well as mill, lathe, and press work.
