I was referred by the members on Subaruforester.org because my stage III 04 FXT had constant misfire. I got my heads back rebuilt and valves adjusted. Heads were so clean I didn't recognize them. We put my heads back on with arp studs, the engine is misfire free, quiet and smooth. Good price, good turnaround and beautiful work on my heads.

We sent in a customers EJ20 heads for freshening and hybrid chamber work. The heads came back so clean they were almost unrecognizable. Riley's car is making 450whp and it runs better than we hoped.

Worst business I have delt with yet. I took my block, crank, a few other parts down to have them hot tanked, block honed, and new (provided) cam bearings put in. After 6 weeks all that had been done was a few parts were hot tanked, my crank and block still sat in the exact same place as I dropped them off. Then he has the gall to tell me the bill is going to be $490 for the work because "He thinks his time is valuable" (apparently mine isn't). I called 5 other shops, prices ranged from $90-$200 with longest guaranteed turn around of 3-5 days. What really infuriates me is that I had stopped by twice in the 6 week period to find him working on his own personal race car. When I called on week 5 to check on it he tells me they have been really busy getting it ready and now it needed a roll cage and mine will be another week. How he found the time for personal work BEFORE doing work for his paying customer's is beyond me.I paid the ridiculous $45 he charged to [poorly] wash my oil pan and valve covers and took it to another shop.If you want to come second to personal work and pay 4-5 times as much as another shop will charge then ASF is the place for you.

Simpson Brothers Garage
We experienced serious car problems on our way home to Wisconsin from California. They addressed the problem, and had us back on the road in less than two hours. They also took us to a place to get something to eat, called us when our car was ready, and picked us up. The mechanic even worked on the vehicle over his lunch hour so they could get us on our way. I cannot say enough about the wonderful service we received. They are truly a five star operation!

Over and Under Automotive
Did a head gasket on my daughters car and it has left her stranded 3 times within the last 2 months. Twice for the same fuel clip and now the timing belt that they installed failed. They refuse to pay for a tow and were rude on the phone and told me to take them to court. These guys are a joke.

Jeff's Automotive Service & Repair LLC
Jeff's Automotive is the ONLY repair shop I have ever taken my Classic Muscle car 1968 Camaro SS/RS to.
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
