  • Great coffee shame about the parking

    On vacation from England and went to visit a few sites around Galveston. Went to the oil rig museum and saw Starbucks and thought would have a coffee befor hand. Two coffees $6+ no complaints. On coming out to my surprise a little yellow parking fine on the windscreen.

    Fine $30 plus $5 for the parking........

    After looking for the board we did see you have to pay. I guess its my fault BUT very bad notice about pay and dispay.. Come on Starbucks put up your own notice on the back wall as part of customer service.

    They got the wrong registration (out by two digits) no phone number to contact them on the ticket.

    No point trying to get out of it, but how does a company like this get away with it, or is if rife in the USA. You can pay online....but that will cost another $3 for the convenence

    The Ampco System at the Starbucks near the Cruise Lines in Galveston is entrapment. There is no sign display that ?Paid Parking? at Starbucks is required. The Company knows they are not truthful about these parking fees, that?s why they don?t display a Sign their phone number on their tickets, or on-line payment contacts . Shame of the City of Galveston. Pay $5.00 to park at Starbucks to get a $2.00 cup of coffee? Big Time Scam.

    I paid monthly, usually early and always in person. Imagine my suprise when I received bills showing that I had not paid. Was unable to contact anyone there for quite some time (over a month) and the bills have no contact number on them. When finally able to contact Ampco, I was told that I should have presented the bill/invoice with payment-now why could they have not told me that when I was in the office paying my bill? Did they assume that I was making a charitable donation to their company?

    Also, each summer, you can expect one of the 2 elevators in the Galveston lot to be out of comission ALL SUMMER.

    For folks trying to park without a contract on nights and weekends, the automated moneytaker may or may not work.
