We live in Atlanta but come to Gainesville regularly to our Lakehouse. Although we consider ourselves "foodies" and eat out all the time at Atlanta's many amazing restaurants, this restaurant is one of our absolute favorites. We never get tired of it. The food is very fresh, the menu is a reasonable size and not overwhelming, and they have some excellent fish tacos and other dishes. The service is perfect and we can always get a table. It's our favorite in Gainesville and our favorite Mexican restaurant across cities!

Went there tonight and it was busy so we went straight to the bar where we were ignored for the first 10 minutes then someone came to tell us they were one for behind on food. We decided to just order drinks. Waited minimum of 45 minutes while people kept telling us they'd be right with us but never did. Horrible service and extremely overpriced for such rude service

Great authentic Mexican food and restaurant. There is a lively and fun atmosphere from the decor, to the music and even the employees. The owner is usually around and interacts with customers. It is a family owned and operated establishment which adds to the authenticity

We were visiting Gainesville for work and we found this restaurant . It is impeccable cleaned the food is delicious and the price is very fair. I recommend for those who love Mexican food.

Rio Balsas
Just visited Rio Balsas for the first time, started with the normal chips and salsa. The salsa had no flavor other than tomatoes. Ordered the guacamole and it had tomatoes and onions but no flavor other that avocados. For the lunch, I ordered the dinner enchiladas. I asked about the sauce and was told that it was a creamy red sauce. When it came, the sauce looked like chili oil. The beef was greasy, the chicken was good and the cheese was ok because a couldn't open the enchilada to get the cheese out from the oil. Overall a bad experience and I'm not planning in going back.

Wonderful food and service! It may seem strange, but order the Rio Balsa Burger-- it was, by far, the best hamburger I have ever eaten. This place has great prices and an owner that will win you over on your first visit. 11/10, I will eat here again and recommend this to anyone. Thanks, Rio Balsa!

Mestizo South West Grill
NO BUENO! ok this place is insane. Deserves NO STARS! Different people work here every week, and each new crew has it's own way of messing up your order. Now apparently, every thing such as mushrooms, cheese, peppers and other normal additions to your order is an EXTRA charge. Also, I ordered three chicken tacos and I got a salad plate full of lettuce, tomato, cheese & a teaspoon of shredded chicken, with a side of tortillas. Now, this wouldn't be a big deal if that's the way it's always been, however this is totally new here. I would like my to-go food *prepared* & ready to eat so when I get it to-go I can eat it quickly on my lunch break.... Anyway; no consistency here, and the random pricing and preparation of the food is unsatisfactory, not to mention the food, vegetables and condiments behind the glass always look old and weathered, coagulated mayonnaise, etc... Beware

50's Diner
The Lanier Diner : This supposedly 1950's style diner opened with great potential however, it has rapidly become just another sub-average eating establishment. The first month it opened there were huge crowds and the the food, superb service and enticing presentation were all Five Star. Unfortunatley, it seems the managment only used this as a temporary technique to entice customers. After just two months, the quality in all areas has become increasingly less than One Star. If the management had only continued their superlative debut service/quality this could have been a refreshingly different dinning eperience . . .
