My family and I have been here a couple of times now and everyone is so friendly here. They have great prices on additional pairs of glasses other than what insurance pays for. I have recommended them to all my friends and family because of the excellent care and service I, as well as my family, have received here!!

Horrible experience. Got a rude woman named Rita who "helped" me. All the staff seems rude. There are better eye centers out there. Avoid this one.

If you are seriously considering having LASIK surgery, I highly recommend getting a consultation with Dr. Blue right away! I decided to have one with him after an unsatisfactory consultation with another doctor. Boy am I got a second consultation! It is free, will clarify any doubts you may have and answer all questions. Dr. Blue has endless years of experience performing the procedure and it shows. His enthusiasm to fix my vision and perform the procedure was palpable. He had wonderful bedside manners, listened patiently to my concerns. I booked the surgery before I left the consultation to have it in two days. My initial consultation was with Ophthalmologist in the Athens, Ga. area who did not give me a very comfortable feeling with choosing him for the LASIK procedure. His practice was clearly overbooked and the doctor appeared rushed to get my consultation over with. While Dr. Blue may have just as many patients he was not in a rush and we ended up chatting about other non-LASIK things. The procedure, itself, was a piece of cake and when it was finished I could immediately see well! Very little post-op pain or soreness... There was normal irritation on the first day akin to putting in a "bad contact" or the like but only when the medication wore off. However, the prescribed medication completely alleviated it. After a short post-op nap, I woke up to perfect vision! I used the pain medication as needed for the first two days (sparingly the second day). 3rd day out there was no eye irritation or pain. I currently have 20/15 vision which is improved from 20/70!Ancillary review: Dr. Blue’s staff are kind and very professional who will help you out in any way they can. This was particularly helpful for me in financing the surgery as they guided me through the options and handled all of my questions. In summary, I was apprehensive to elect LASIK surgery. If you are apprehensive as I was but want clear vision, I highly recommend getting a consultation with Dr. Blue! Feel free to get two consultations with two different doctors as I did but just make sure Dr. Blue is one of them! Not all Ophthalmologists are created equally as I found out. However, Dr. Blue made me feel very comfortable and fixed my vision with the LASIK procedure. I am completely and totally satisfied with my decision and you will too!

I absolutely love coming to Dr.Shannon. My family has been going there for years. in fact he found a brain tumor behind the optic nerve in my mothers eye if not found early would have been alot worse he gave us 8 more years with our mom. Poeple can say what they want or think what they want about Dr. Shannon but he is top notch in my book. And he makes me laugh at least once everytime I go. He seems to live every day to the fullest. And I hope god blesses him with a long life to keep making me and others laugh and smile for years to come. Deneen Benefield

Very poor customer service. Went for my trial the girl poked a hole in my trial contact then ripped it. Said she would over night it days later I called said my contacts haven't came in get a call the same day from the girl who ripped my contact saying it would be 2 weeks since I have a special order. Over 2 weeks passed I walk into the store to see if my contacts came in lady said it just got there today then oppose to telling me I have to retry them on and asked me if I was already wearing my one and only contact I said no then it just went down hill from there. I told them that it was an unprofessional establishment with unprofessional and untrained people who can't get their stories or facts straight that my husband and I would no longer be a customer!

My appointment was at 10:00am, I arrived at about 9:45 to fill out new patient paperwork. After about an hour of waiting I was moved into another waiting room, where I waited yet another hour. After that I was finally moved into a room where I expected to see a doctor soon but instead was made to wait another 30 minutes. My appointment was at 10:00 and I didn't see a doctor until nearly 12:30. Do not come to this eye specialist unless you want to waste nearly 3 hours of your life for a 10 minute doctor consultation.

Wonderful Doctor, very nice man. The nurses are amazing, so nice. Helped me and I've been telling everyone what a great doctor's office this is. I didn't have to wait long and I didn't have an appointment. I just can't say enough nice things.
Tips & Advices
A regular eye exam focuses on the general health of your eyes, while a contact lens exam is focused specifically on how your eyes react to contact lenses. A contact lens exam tests how well you see while wearing contacts. Your eyes are also evaluated to make sure your tear ducts produce enough tears to allow you to comfortably wear contact lenses.
The cost of contact lenses depends on the type of lens being purchased and the vision problem that is being corrected. For nearsightedness, you'll be able to purchase a box of six lenses for roughly $25. Each lens needs to be replaced after a couple of weeks, which will require you to purchase 10 boxes of lenses each year, for a total of $250 per year. Contact lenses that treat other conditions like astigmatism and presbyopia are more expensive, and can cost $500-$700 a year.
Some people may experience certain side effects when wearing contact lenses. Dry eyes may result, and some people may experience eye or eyelid inflammation. Some contact lens wearers may also develop allergic reactions to the liquid contact lens solution that is used to clean and disinfect the lens.
The cost of an eye exam can range $50-$250 or more. The cost will depend on the tests that are included, and whether the exam involves a contact lens fitting. The cost of the test will also hinge on whether the exam is performed by an optometrist or ophthalmologist.
An eye exam typically takes 20-30 minutes. If additional tests are required, the process could take longer. Eye exams test your sight, but they are also used to make sure your eyes are in good health. During the test, your eye care professional will ask if you've been experiencing any problems with your vision. Your eyes will be examined using a device known as an ophthalmoscope, and the movement of coordination of your eyes will be checked.
