Florida Ophthalmic Institute
I went to two doctors about cataracts in my eyes. They said nothing could be done with one eye. Ramjattan, Trudy, Md operated on it I can see very well out of it now. She has a very nice manner and is very professional about what she does. I would recommend her to anyone. She has always treated me very well even when my insurance would not pay what she was worth. I have diabetics and need to have my eyes checked often. She has all of the equipment needed to perform her job. She always seems to be upbeat and happy.

Primary Care Institute
I have just started going to this practice. To be honest, I have had several primary care physicians while in Gainesville. I have lived here almost 8 years and have had 7 physicians. I have never been satisfied with any of them until now. My experience with Primary Care Institute has been fantastic. I actually look forward to going to the doctor. Dr. Shippert is truly the best. The office staff is great. Claudia is hilarious. After almost 8 years I believe I have found my true primary care physician.

Sarantos Peter MD
Dr. Sarantos is a great surgeon. He saved my life and he is very humble about it. He is a pleasant, caring and thorough doctor. I have had many great doctors, but Dr. Sarantos is by far, my favorite. He followed me and cared for me as long as it took for me to get better and then rejoiced with me in my victories and was comforting with my insecurities. I believe in him and he believed in me.

I am very pleased with the care my family member recieved here. We saw Dr. Reddy and she was wonderful. You could tell she really listened and cared about what you said to her. I totally reccomend her to any one I know. The administrative staff was very responsive to our appointment requests too. Great team. Thank you for the care given to my family!

Tips & Advices
A child should see his or her pediatrician frequently during the first few years. Once the child reaches age 3, parents should schedule a doctor's visit at least once per year. Before that, however, the American Academy of Pediatrics suggests parents arrange visits according to the following schedule:
  • 2 to 5 days old
  • 1 month old
  • 4 months old
  • 6 months old
  • 9 months old
  • 12 months old
  • 15 months old
  • 24 months old (2 years)
  • 30 months old (2.5 years)
No, parents should call 911, an emergency physician, or a pediatric emergency physician if a child suffers an acute illness or injuries. Doctors in these fields are more qualified than pediatricians to handle emergency situations.
A well-visit is a routine visit with a pediatrician to track a child's development, discuss medical or emotional concerns, and receive immunizations and medical advice.
Yes, pediatricians provide immunizations for infants and children up through 21 years.
No, pediatricians do not have to be board certified. They're only required to have a state license. However, certification indicates a dedication to studying pediatrics beyond the requirements.
