Dave Barber's Paint & Body
MADE MY CAR LOOK NEW AGAIN!On my way north on I-75 just past Gainesville, FL at the beginning of May, 2013, I was hit by a large truck from behind and pushed into the interstate guardrail - part of a major accident causing a total shutdown of the highway. Not being from the area, I had no idea where my insurance company, State Farm, would have my car towed. State Farm told me that Dave Barber's Paint and Body was on the approved/accredited list. So, my faith had to be in a body shop I had never seen more than two hours away from where I live. I was contacted immediately the afternoon of the accident by the body shop to assure me they would get my vehicle and keep me updated and they wanted to know if I had any questions. They gave me all their information so that I could contact them. Once my vehicle was towed in and the estimate came in, they sent me everything and answered all of my questions - patiently I might add. The girls in the office were patient, courteous and provided consistent excellent customer service - thanks, Rachel and Erica. Dave Barber himself spoke with me on the phone many times to explain to me the status of my car and the parts being ordered, etc. Dave personally answered my questions and explained the process to me.Fast forward to mid June, 2013 - my car had EXTENSIVE damage/approximately $16k worth - I was told my car was ready for pick up. I scheduled a convenient day to take the drive to Gainesville and fetch my vehicle. The front office girls, Rachel and Erica, greeted me kindly in the office and Dave Barber walked out to greet me right away. He grabbed my key to pull the car around... it really seemed hard to believe the difference in my car from the last time I saw it on a tow truck. Not only had it been cleaned and washed, but it was shiny and looked much like the day I bought it new back in 2010. Dave kindly took the time to walk the entire vehicle with me and explain what had been done to my car. We opened the back so he could show me everything. He offered to ride with me and test drive it. During my drive, I was certainly nervous that the car wouldn't feel right or be in alignment. The more I drove it the more it felt like the same car. Dave directed me around the streets of Gainesville and probably would have let me drive on and on and on for an hour if I wanted to. Dave wanted to make sure I was HAPPY with my car before returning to the body shop. He even showed me the equipment they used to make sure the work was done with cutting edge laser technology and precision.ONLY when I was completely satisfied with the work and drive of my car did I finally walk back into the shop's front office to pay my deductible and receive a full printout of all the work done to the car. In fact, Dave told me they stand behind their work just as State Farm will too. If I had any questions or concerns, I was welcome to come back or call Dave. Dave also warned me about how to wash the car over the next couple of months past a paint job. I even received a kind email the next business day to check on my satisfaction with the car and ask if everything was still okay.I have to say - there is nothing like knowing someone really paid attention to detail and took care of your car! Not only is it a major investment, but it's a necessity in my career and daily life and was absolutely important to me. It was a pleasant surprise to come across a body shop with such great customer service. Rachel, Erica and Dave Barber were all great to work with - responsive, helpful, patient, understanding and honest. Thank you Dave Barber's Paint and Body! I would highly recommend this business to anyone in need of such services.

Buchholz Paint & Auto Body
I was recently involved in a collision with a 250-300 pound wild hog which apparently decided to commit suicide-by-car at 12:30 AM on a remote rural road. I was able to get my speed down to about 30 before impact but the collision made a deep dent in the front passenger side and severely damaged several underlying structures including the I-beam and passenger-side lights. I checked with the local Ford dealership and with YP and several other online review sites for recommendations and was repeatedly pointed to Buchholz as a provider with a strong reputation for high-quality work. Buchholz had me drop the car off at their workshop for the insurance appraisal, arranged for a rental car through a well-known national rental agency and handled all the details. Aside from contacting my insurance company and getting the car to the workshop I literally didn't have to do anything except pay my insurance deductible. Buchholz also arranged to use OEM parts throughout (bumper, I-beam, foam insert, light assemblies) and were able to restore my new car to the original factory appearance. The paint and finish are a perfect match for the original - you literally cannot tell there was an impact.I was very nervous about the damage to my brand new car and how well it would look and function after repairs. I am completely satisfied with the work done by Buchholz and would recommend them to anyone.

I would like to comment on M.M.'s review below. Apparently this is a person I know whom I was relating an experience to with this business. However, this person has falsified some information and exaggerated the rest, impersonating me in an attempt to either damage this business or perhaps they think this vigilante type of action is justified. In reality, the repairs were made in a timely fashion. My Volvo was there a long time because a part was on back-order by Volvo and had to come from Sweden. Not UCC's fault. In fact, Patrick kept me updated on the status of part very diligently. There were a few smudges in the interior and a scratch upon return. These were removed and the car returned to me within 24 hours. The scratch may have occurred in transport to, or at, my Volvo dealer where it was taken for additional quality review since it was virtually new and UCC desired to give me extra peace of mind. UCC paid for a rental car for me during this time. Finally, Volvo did not refer me there, my insurance company did after my accident, as they told me that UCC was the only garage in town certified to do the work since the car was a Volvo and so new (2014). The repair work they did was flawless, and they went above and beyond to correct the issue I did have. Because of this I would definitely use them again.

I cannot say enough about the great service and attention to detail to you get from University Collision Center. Frank and his staff are the absolute best to work with and they go that extra distance to ensure you are satisfied with the work done. They back up the work they do. Frank was great to give me a rough time frame on the work that needed to be done, with him qualifying that it might take longer depending on what is found underneath the exterior of my car. Frank and his crew can count on my continue patronage. It's also great that my insurance company has total confidence in their ability to do effective and quality work.

Richard's Import Store
Richard has been in the Volvo business for over forty years. He and his crew of sons are the best in the business. Anything related to Volvo can be repaired by this fantastic crew. You are treated like family and billed accordingly. No hidden costs, no bs, just straight forward analysis of your car's problem. Will treat you right and charge you a fair price. Richard honors their warranties and will not do work that is not necessary. Plus their flat screen TV in their air conditioned waiting room is to die for.

Tips & Advices
Using a variety of tools and processes, many of which require specialized training, auto body mechanics primarily repair cosmetic and structural damage to vehicles after accidents occur. They can also enhance a vehicle’s appearance and performance by replacing and adding new parts to a vehicle’s body.
This depends on the severity of the work that needs to be done. Something such as paintless dent repair for a few small dents can take an hour. Whereas auto body repairs for damages caused by a major accident can take multiple days to correct.
All auto body parts can be repaired but there is a threshold for the level of repairs possible. Parts can be damaged beyond repair and would need to be wholly replaced.
Auto body parts can be made from a wide variety of materials, usually based on what the part’s purpose is. Vehicle frames body panels, bumpers, roof racks, and other items that need to be strong and durable are usually constructed from steel, which is known for its durability and resistance to rust and high temperatures. But aluminum is quickly becoming a popular material of construction due to its lightweight yet durable nature. Body kits and other aftermarket parts like spoilers and hoods can be constructed from one form of plastic or another.
Yes, the vast majority of car makes and models have aftermarket parts available for many of their components. But higher-end vehicles typically have less aftermarket parts available since they often use specialized materials and manufacturing processes that are difficult to duplicate for many aftermarket manufacturers.
