Discounted Wheel Warehouse
I ordered four Michelin Defender 195/60R15 tires, they came in two separate packages [2 tires strapped together in each package, not in a box], had WALMART install them, they seem to work great. I emailed this company (Discounted Wheel Warehouse) twice [to ask them how I get the mail-in rebate money] and they never replied back to my emails. I called them on the phone and first selected option 2 [Tires] and was sent into someone's voice mail; I immediately hung-up and called them back and selected option 1 [Order Questions] and they answered the phone after about 2 minutes waiting. The girl on the phone was able to help me with my question on how to get the mail-in rebate money by filling out a form on the Michelin website. I would have gave them a 5-star rating if they replied back to one of my two emails; and if they would have helped the people here with the 1-star ratings. It seems to be a hit or miss with this company. Hopefully they can fix the problems they've been having.

Dealer's Tire & Wheel
Typical RIP OFF tire shop... Had some tire mounting/balancing done by them on my RV. The price I PAID was 20% more than the price they quoted me(exact same job-NO added work)... Their quality of work was sub-standard also... Supervision of their non-english speaking workforce was sadly lacking.

I drove the last set on my Porsche until the steel was showing and one blew out in spectacular fashion -- they recommended a replacement set from a German company called Falken that I'd never heard of, so I checked with my relatives across the pond and they gave me the thumbs-up. Great service!

I've been there several times over the years for my tire needs. They are really fast and helpful at finding me used tires or putting on the tires that I bought on line. The prices are very reasonable too which is important in a recession.

Tips & Advices
Yes. New tires purchased online can often be priced lower than ones at a tire dealership. Buyers can often avoid state sales taxes and locate hard-to-find tire styles and sizes, but will still have to locate a local tire installer and pay sometimes high shipping costs.
The average cost of a set of new tires is $637, with a range of between $525-$725. In addition, installation includes mounting and balancing, alignment, and disposal of old tires.
The vehicle is raised and the old wheels are removed, then the old tires are removed from the wheels. The lug nuts, wheels, and valve stems are inspected and replaced as needed. The new tires are mounted and sealed, then inflated and balanced. The wheels are then replaced on the car. The average installation takes approximately 45 minutes.
Agencies such as the Tire Industry Association promotes tire safety through advocacy and education to the industry including: manufacture, sales, repair, service and recycling. Seek a full-service tire dealer who carries a wide variety of tire types and brands and asks about the type of driving you normally do.
  • Move your car to a safe location.
  • Turn on your car’s safety lights, apply the parking brakes and remove the hubcap if there is one.
  • Loosen the lug nuts with a lug wrench (but do not remove them), raise the vehicle with a jack and then fully remove the lugnuts.
  • Remove the flat tire and replace it with the spare tire.
  • Tighten the lug nuts by hand, lower the car and then tighten them fully with the lug wrench.

Just a moment...
