Roundup Barbq
Someone rated this previously & mentioned that in the '80's this place was in Manchester Center. Sorry to disagree but it was the old Farmers Mkt. at Divisadero & Hwy 99. There were quite a few places inside, guess you could basically call it the first food court in Fresno! Directly across from Roundup was a small place, (you'd place an order at the counter, pick it up & eat at one of the tables in the square or take it home) To this day, I can still taste the pork & beef barbeque sandwiches (pork WAS the best!). Their side salad complemented the sandwich with it's sharp & tangy dressing. It was heaven. I began eating there when I was 20 & am now 59! It was so yummy and still is. In addition, right across from Roundup was a little Italian place (Rossi's) with some of the best Italian food I've ever eaten. Homemade pizza taste, with the pizza dough rolled out by hand, it was as good as my mama's! In fact, my mama, who was born in Rome, Italy use to make their sauce for pasta when I was just a little girl. That's how long their history is in Fresno. When the Farmer's Mt closed it was a sad day until Roundup opened up on Bullard, north of First in the mid 80's. And lo and behold, the owners (think they bought them) ended up with the recipes from Rossi's! So in addition to getting great BBQ food, you could get the same fabulous, rustic, italian dishes of yore, lol! and now, here we go for the 3rd time, yum! Great, great food that transports me back to when I was, much, much younger. Manga, manga!!

Peach Pit
The Peach Pit has a well deserved local reputation for great burgers. I and my family have been going to Peach Pit for classic greasy spoon style burgers for years and we've never been disappointed. My favorite burger is the chili cheese burger. I get a side order of fries (pretty heavy on the salt, so people with hypertension should know that) and a Coke and my stomach is very happy. The prices are a little on the high side but the quality of the burgers is worth the cost. The only negative I can think of is the neighborhood. Its gotten pretty bad since the police sub-station closed down. But visit during the day and treat yourself to one of (if not the) best burgers in the city.

Starving Artists Bistro
The Starving Artist Bistro! Such a cool name, first of all! It is a family owned restaurant that has live music (very talented musicians at that) and all the waiters are sooo sweet! The first night I went there was pretty cold and I wasn't dressed for the weather so they brought my group in from the patio and lent me a blanket.. that made me feel right at home :) I even came back the next day to perform my first gig as a musician! (open-Mic and a pretty cool stage!) The environment is very laid back and good for family and/or friend gatherings, hangouts, etc. The Starving Artist Bistro is DEFINITELY a chill place to visit! :)

The Pointe Patio Bar
My brother and I went to dinner together tonight to catch up on life. He told me about a new place he wanted to check out. I have to say I was very impressed by the entire place. Love the circle bar and the outside seating area. I was amazed at how well it was designed right down to the water feature in the patio. He ordered the pointe burger and I had the jerk chicken tacos both were delicious. Servers were very friendly and quick! I was really happy I let him decide where we would go tonight. I will definitely return!

Westwoods BBQ & Spice Co
I have eaten here twice so really not enough to make a judgement. But I did enjoy the margarita and the service was great. Dave Fansler came over and welcomed me which was a great idea. I had nachos on Cinco de Mayo.....half tri tip and half pulled pork...excellent. Will return to try the specialties...like ribs, etc.

Breakfast Hut
First time there. The place has a great feel real homey . Lots of country nostalgia . Prompt and friendly service . A bit of a wait for our food BUT ... It's basically from scratch! So well worth it ☺️ The special was great. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable . Definitely returning

Jeb's Blueberry Hill
Buscuits and gravy were REAL DownHome Cookin. and the Waffles could of stood alone... Blueberry Waffles. The Service girls were Polite as can be, but I regret I didn't get to taste the skillet fried potatos. My only complaint is that I was to the limit of the table space, but I'm working on that...

Elephant Bar
Elephant Bar has a large menu that is sure to contain an item for any taste. I had the braised lamb shank and my wife had the macadamia nut encrusted mahi mahi. Both were delicious and reasonably priced. I will definitele return to sample some of their other dishes.

Just a moment...
