Kool Smiles
This was one of the worst experiences I've had at Kool Smiles. I arrived ten minutes before my daughter's 9:45 appointment on 10/11/2014, was treated disrespectfully by the receptionist upon entering the facility and then was made to wait until 10:26 before we were called back for our appointment. We watched three families that came in after us be called back before us and my daughter asked twice at the reception desk when we'd be called and was told we were next only to watch other children to be called ahead of us. We then waited an additional 12 minutes in the examination room before anyone even acknowledged our presence. At 10:38 the hygienist came over to us. We left the office at 11:15. There is no reason for a routine cleaning appointment to keep someone at the dentist office for an hour and a half especially when over half that time was spent waiting. I have always had good things to say about Kool Smiles but am looking for a new pediatric dentist for my daughter because this was the absolute worst treatment I've ever experienced in an office like this.

Certain medications preclude same day surgery. Special situations requires special care. Health history is reviewed at the time of your appointment. As parents medications prescribed with strict guidelines to notify health care givers of such medications. No such notification occurred in advance. The consult can include looking at X-rays and health history. A consultation code was utilized. All claims are filed the day of your visit. Your comments are not an accurate reflection of real events that occurred in the office. Your slanderous comments are not appreciated. Our goal was to provide excellent care to your daughter. Obviously, our office wanted the best possible surgical outcome. An adverse consequent could have occurred without a comprehensive review of medical history. Many medications may alter a surgical plan. This office genuinely cares about our patients. Unfortunately, you failed to communicate significant health data prior to surgery. RESPONSE TO 2/11

Gentle Touch Family and Cosmetic Dentistry
I am ashamed to say that up until going to Gentle Touch Family and Cosmetic Dentistry on Plank Road, I was afraid of the dentist. Dr. Gollapalli was very helpful in getting me over my fear. Throughout my first appointment she was very open and honest explaining everything that she was doing and not asking me questions I couldn't answer when her hands were in my mouth (I hate that). She gave me a list of all the work that needed to be done and allow me to chose what I wanted done and when. After the initial deep cleaning and xrays I decided the next step would be the root canals. I scheduled the two root canals and everything went extremely well. Scheduling and rescheduling appointments is simple and made the process of getting back to the dentist easy! Overall if you are looking for a dentist who will listen to you and help you through your fear Dr. Gollapalli is the person to go to! I highly recommend Gentle Touch as I know you'll be very pleased and happy with the results.

Brought my 4 year old here for her second dentist appointment. Her first visit was not a very kid friendly atmosphere, and did not go over well. So she was terrified of going to a dentist again. My child loved jungle gym and coloring station in the waiting room. We were taken to the back by dental assistant, Elizabeth. Who we learned has the patience of a saint! She was very kind, knew exactly how to talk to kids, and went over everything they had to do before actually touching her. My little girl took to her so they let Elizabeth actually stay through the process with her to brush/clean/floss her teeth and do her x-rays. She was able to get done a lot more than we expected with my dentist terrified kid! She was very knowledgable and explained the process of taking care of they cavities they found. All the staff were great and didn't just try to rush through the process at all . A big thank you to Elizabeth for helping my girl get through her first real dentist appointment!

I am Shelly Johnson. I am a recent patient of Dr. Stephen Brown. I was in the worst pain that I have ever experienced in my life the day that I called and talked to one of his staff. I was told to come in THAT EVENING,, shocker!!!! She told me to come that day because of the seriousness of the situation with my tooth. Infection had spread from a broken tooth. My eye was black and swollen almost shut. I looked as if someone had beaten me up. As I cried on the phone, she remained calm and was professional. I have no insurance and they helped me get qualified to make payments. They took great care of me and alleviated my fears and pain. I am so scared of the dentist. They all alleviated my fears and Dr. Brown alleviated my pain immediately. My follow up visit was wonderful. I could NOT have asked for,or received better care! The entire staff stayed late to care for me. Thank you all! I will tell everyone I know about my great experience! You have made a friend for life!

We recently took my 4 year old here. This was her first real dental experience. The waiting room was mostly chairs, with a small play area. It was very crowded, and we waited over an hour to get called back. It took over an hour for the cleaning and xrays as well. The constant changing of care providers made her very scared. There was no familiar face. The person that takes you back isn't the person that cleans your teeth. The person that cleans your teeth isn't the one that does x-rays. And then of course the dentist is a separate person. The assistant for her filling was also someone different. So in one visit, we had 6 different people. How is a child supposed to get comfortable that way? I am not sure I will be going back. I went because it is supposed to be child friendly. Besides the play area, it really wasn't.

My daughter, Jennifer Tran, is a new patient here at Koolsmile in Fredericksburg. We are very pleased with the treatment. Dr Zainul is very nice. He explained everything to parents from viewing the x-ray to his plan for treatment what he will do next and what is good. During the procedure he made sure the kid feel comfortable and always check for pain. My daughter told me after the procedure done that she didn't feel pain at all. She went home, did fine and didn't even need Tylenol for pain. The two dental assistants who worked with Dr Zain were very nice also. The staff is friendly and explained very thing for patients. I can see the clinic is very busy with a lot of little customers after school hours, but the staff still handle very well. I am glad that I choose this clinic for my kids' dental care.

My son went to get a crown today, but unfortunately his teeth were to dirty to do. So he ended up getting a cleaning and some trays to be ready for the next visit. Tan the male hygienist at kool smile was excellent engaging and informative. My son is 14 standing 6 feet 3 inches, Tan had him laughing and he even said that Tan was nice because he showed him how to floss. Now when it came to the rays that was done by Liz and she was awesome, inviting and pleasant. My son even let her take his hair pic to comb through his Bush!!!! He let's no one do that. Last but certainly not least was mercies at the front desk, she was helpful, patient, and professional. Thank you three for making our visit today wonderful, fun, and pleasant. See you guys in two weeks!!!!!

Gentle Touch Family and Cosmetic Dentistry
You always are apprehensive when going to a dentist. That is something you often won't really know until you sit in the chair and open up. After my visit to this office, I have to say everything about this office is professional. Setting my appointment was straightforward and informative. On my visit to the office everything was organized and clean. My initial exam was thorough; they did x-rays, visual exams. I was advised of the need for the treatments, how much it costs, insurance verification and how long it will take for the procedure. Ultimately Dr. Gollapalli has a lot of skills. So, after my visit, I can tell you that the office of Dr Gollapalli is a great one and I highly recommend her.

I have never had a bad experience with Dr. Willoghby or her staff or her billing policies. As a fellow business owner I know how difficult it can be when dealing with the public. Few people will praise great work but a few will make the effort to take out their frustrations with bad reviews and negative remarks. My entire family uses TDC and have never experienced anything but the highest level of service and professionalism. Never once. I just left a review for her after my last visit on a other site that listed 129 Five Star reviews and saw this unflattering, non representative One Star rating. If you need a dentist, Dr. Willoughby is a great one.
Tips & Advices
  • If a tooth decays and the nerves or pulp (soft internal tissue which helps teeth develop) become inflamed or infected
  • If a tooth is cracked or broken and nerves are exposed
This generally depends on any specific issues you wish to address with your teeth. There are toothpastes designed to whiten teeth, fight cavities, decrease sensitivity, prevent bad breath, resist gingivitis, and those specific to children (with lower fluoride content). There are also toothpastes that offer “complete” protection by combining aspects of many of the above toothpastes.
It’s recommended to get a professional cleaning at least two times per year.
  • Desensitizing toothpaste numbs the nerves in the teeth that can cause discomfort.
  • Mouth guard can protect against grinding teeth during sleep.
  • Fluoride treatment can be applied by dentists to sensitive areas to numb teeth and strengthen enamel.
  • Root canal can treat problems in a tooth’s core.
  • Surgical gum graft where a piece of gum tissue is removed from a section of the mouth to cover an exposed root.
Not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth removed, but there are certain signs that can help you and your doctor determine if yours should be:
  • Wisdom teeth are pushing other teeth around, causing pain and misalignment
  • Cysts form around newly emerged wisdom teeth, causing jaw damage
  • Gums get inflamed and swollen, causing cavities and pain
  • Doctor determine from x-rays that wisdom teeth will cause problems in the near future
