Friedhelm's Bavarian Inn was recommended to us about 15+ years ago when we still lived in Texas. Back then we went to Fredericksburg twice a year, in the spring and fall and we always found our way here for dinner. On my first visit I asked the waitress for a recommendation and she recommended the jaeger schnitzel and I was not disappointed. As a matter of fact it was wonderful! We no longer live in Texas but we still travel to Fredericksburg once a year in October and never fail to stop in for dinner. We've tried every other German Restaurant in town and Friedhelm's by far is the best and most of the locals agree it is the best german restaurant in town. Their portions are generous and the jaeger schnitzel is smothered in brown sauce and covered with LOTS of mushroom (unlike many of the other restaurants who give you a "hint" of mushroom). The meal comes with a wonderful cabbage soup that is very flavorful, salad, home made bread and one generous side dish. I have never been disappointed with the food and every time we bring friends along to try the food they are thrilled with the service and the food. We have never been disappointed and anyone who we have recommended this restaurant to have been very happy with their meal and the service. This is not a fast food restaurant and the waitresses do not make you feel like they are in a hurry to get you served so they can seat someone else. The dining is relaxing and in a world where everyone is in a hurry this is something pretty rare. Unlike the chain restaurants who don't pride themselves of service, you get to relax and enjoy each course before they come out with the next one. So, if you are in a hurry, go to a chain restaurant but if you want good service, a nice relaxing dinner in a quaint restaurant this is the place. This is not glitz and glamour but it really is a place where you can take your time to enjoy good food, good conversation, a good beer and not feel rushed. This truly is authentic german food, not a chain and they take pride in the food they serve and if you like German beer you will not be disappointed. They do not take reservations so if you go on a busy weekend it's best to get there early because they are always busy.

The Auslander is a fantastic place. We live here in Fredericksburg and I can assure you that Auslander is the best place to eat, drink, and listen to music. They have a great biergarten and a wonderful dining room. The food is great and so is the service. REALLY a fun, enjoyable place to dine or just hang out. Anyone coming to Fredericksburg should definitely give Auslander a shot. You won't be disappointed!

Our favorite eating place when we're in the area. Took some out-of-state friends for lunch at Cranky Franks, they were so impressed with the food, now they want this to be a regular eating place on their visits. The BBQ is nice and lean, side dishes are kept cold and place kept clean.

I love the place! People are friendly. Those that gave a negative review are not considering the cafe's disposition. They make excellent burgers and fries...which have grease. It's expected. And I love it. I'm 112 pounds and Im not complaining about anything. If I could give more stars, I would!!!! I'm going tomorrow!!!!!

My wife and I usually visit The Cotten Gin when in Fredricksburg, Tx. After tonight, we won't return. I ordered the Wagu beef. My boot would have been more tender. It was written up in the menu as the best beef available, but I was very disappointed .... and I believe misled. We explained to the waiter I was disappointed, paid our full bill and later called the manager to let her know the food did not measure to the the meal featured as a chief speciality. She could have cared less.

From the moment we were greeted, my husband and I said nothing but 'Yes""!!! and Shut Up!!! all evening. It was our anniversary and we were welcomed with special flowers on the table and a Happy Anniversary greeting from each member of the staff. Very subtle though. I had the Escolar and Lobster which was perfectly prepared...pan seared and cooked just untill the fish transluceny were gone. Perfect and perfect portions, not gauche or heaped. My husband had the New Zealand Lamb with a Balsamic Fig reduction, the flavors melded so well with the Mascarpone Sweet Potatoes and Roasted Beets that he wanted to lick the plate. The lobster bisque was better than one we travel to France for twice a year!!! The wine list had over 200 selections with every price point. \r There were a number of young people working in this place but they were so seasoned and trained you were proud for them. Great job by people who obviously care and know what they are doing. WE are telling everyone we know in Dallas and will return very soon!!!

Fredericksburg was built as a German town. While we love our beer like we love our barbecue, sometimes we all want something a little bit different. With cuisine hailing from halfway around the world, Panda Chinese Restaurant dares to not only allow you to taste dishes from the various ends of the Chinese mainland, but crosses the sea further East to bring you masterfully crafted Sushi true to Japanese technique. We're not half a world a way though, just stop by or call to order!
