The Fish Place
We are building a new home and entertained the idea of a new salt water aquarium so we stopped into The Fish Place to check out their inventory and service. The personnel were friendly and helpful enough and they had a good inventory of tanks, supplies and aquatics. But... We inquired about a certain size tank to fit our intended space since their current inventory did not fit into our intended space. We gave them our dimensions and they were to get back to us with availability and pricing. We are now a couple of months out and no return call. We will shop elsewhere.

I called about a question for an animal they didn't sell me and they took the time to help me and make sure I understood and that I wasn't worried about my animal anymore. They went above and beyond to make sure my animal was ok

jimmye.cook, 12/20/2012My wife and kids visited The F...My wife and kids visited The Fish Place 12/15/12 and fell in love with the place. The Owner and Lori were above and beyond helpful. We are newbies when it comes to saltwater aquariums but after speaking to them both we felt at ease. We bought a 75 gallon aquarium with stand and canopy and it was a breeze to set up. I went back on 12/19/21 for 20 more gallons of salt water and put a few fish on hold. Lori again was extremely helpful and pointed me in all the right directions. She went over coral, fish, food, testing kits etc. This place knows their stuff when it comes to fish. I could stay and look for hours! (heck I have twice already) Instead of a store setting we felt more like family (except we had to pay) You wont be dissapointed. LOVE THIS PLACE!

Pet Grooming: I used to give them 4 stars. There's one red headed man that works there for years and he's excellent. But the past few times...the girl who answers the phone and takes appointments is less than friendly. Even in person she's not friendly. And the last experience a couple of months ago....they kept Bailey all day...I had to call and ask if they were done...after 5 hours....they hadn't even started, and forgot to cut her nails or give her a potty trail. I asked about it and the nice man who handled me tried to squeeze in cutting her potty trail...and he cut TWO of her nails. Two? Her potty trail was odd....and shaved too close to her skin and she was uncomfortable for a week. Sadly...after taking my dogs there since they opened...I won't be back to the Groomer dept. I will say that the boarding dept is great. Different people operating these two departments.

They always take care if their customers. They will even not let you but fish that won't work with what you already have. I've been going for years and they are wonderful.

Review for grooming dept only:We recently adopted our dog and took her here for grooming as we were offered a 25% coupon off of services. The price was right so we figured why not?It's 6:30 right now and we dropped our dog off at 1:30. We weren't walk-ins; we had an appointment set up and everything. We were told when we dropped our dog off that there was only one dog ahead of her and it would be 2-3 hours. Although that seemed a little long, we figured we'd go have lunch and shop for a bit. By 5, we still hadn't gotten a call so decided to drive back. We were "greeted" by a very rude, unapologetic grooming dept associate. We were being SO nice to her, even though we were disappointed when she said our dog was not done yet (it had been 3.5 hrs at this point). I asked if she could at least give us an estimate. She said "no..." and just looked at us, like we were idiots. And then I proceeded to ask their hours, and if they were closing soon...I was again met with "no" and an unapologetic stare.So, we left, went home...still haven't heard anything. We called at 6 to check up on the situation and were met with the same apathetic person answering the phone to tell us she was still not ready. We've basically wasted our whole saturday afternoon waiting around for our dog to be groomed. The worst part is, we know she's been sitting there in a kennel with no food, and no outside privileges, for over 5 hours at this point.I would NOT recommend EVER taking your pet here for grooming. No customer service from the grooming department and it should not take OVER 5 HOURS to have a dog under 9 lbs groomed!!!

I have been into this Petsmart more than once without a leash on my dog and have never been told to have a leash on. This evening I walked in and was not even 2 steps in when a cashier stopped me and told me to get a leash on my dog. How she delivered her message was VERY RUDE and needless to say I left immediately not signing up for a puppy class that I was about to spend more than $100.00 on. Glad she was rude to me(not) bc they just lost a customer.

Finally spoke with the manager at the PetSmart off Heritage Trace about not only the rude/unfriendly in the bird dept, but the poor/mistreated canary that's been there forever. Its beak is so overgrown that it can barely eat and its nails are so long that the feet don't touch the perch. I've asked them to take care of it every time I've gone in there and they always blow me off...today I KINDLY explained the situation on the phone with the manager and she sighed and said, "Ok, I'll look into it." No apology. No explanation. I'm not saying don't shop there, just that I won't anymore...oh and I probably spend around $100 weekly on our various animals btw.
Tips & Advices
Pet owners usually sign a waiver stating that any injury or illness a dog suffers while at daycare is the responsibility of the owner. However, most facilities carry liability insurance and pet business insurance in the event of a serious incident. To prevent illness, facilities are strict about requiring proof of vaccination and general health from a veterinarian prior to accepting a dog. However, in an off-leash setting, scuffles or fights might occur. Reputable facilities will often hire vet assistants who can treat minor injuries and under-the-weather dogs.  For anything more serious, a good daycare should make it a priority to get the dog to a vet, and get in immediate contact with the owner.
