Small business vs big business,I took my car to Jefferey back in October. My A/C compressor was failing, and I needed to have it replaced. I called around, and got several quotes. I was virtually just up against a wall, and running out of options. I'd been searching for days and was ready to just give up. I stumbled across Jefferey's shop online, and decided to give him a shot. Boy, did I strike a gold mine.I took it to him, and had him diagnose the compressor and did in fact determine it was bad, and all in under 10 minutes. We sat down and discussed possibilities, drew up some paperwork and gave me a quote. Not only was his quote fair, it was better than any other big chains I had called, plus he was able to take care of it on the spot, and got straight to it. My compressor was delivered within an hour, and installed and everything completed within a few hours. He gave me a two year unlimited mile warranty, with no hassle, and conditions. Pep Boys wanted double his price, 1 year warranty, with a limited mile warranty.Fast forward 6 months later my compressor died, I didn't have my receipt, but that was no issue, he had it for me. I brought it to him, he looked at it, and determined the compressor had become faulty (not his fault) parts just wear out. Not only did he honor his warranty, he exceeded any expectations, and did so in dignified, and professional manner. If you're needing quality work, in a timely manner, at an excellent price, this man will get it done, and right the first time. He's also ASE certified, and they don't just hand that out lightly, it's earned, and backed with hours of proven ability. Stop being treated like a number to the big boys, this guy is fair, honest, and straight to the point. Honesty is the best policy.Thanks, Jeff!

Bright's Transmission Service
So my sister's car had transmission probs and she took it to Transmission Masters on James & 20. They had an advertisement that stated free tow and free diagnostic (she didn't notice it was only free if they did the work). They told her it would cost $2200. No way does she have that kind of money so she told them she couldn't do it right now. They tried charging her $200 to get it back but she didn't even have that. They relented some days later and told her $70 and come get the car. She went and paid them, and a friend towed the car back to her home. The transmission was in a million pieces in the trunk of her car, her exhaust was dragging the ground because they broke it and they took her right front axle off cause they broke it too, and neglected to put it in the trunk, leaving it in their garage somewhere. Well, she got another (read:HONEST) place to do the work. They fixed the transmission, the axle and the exhaust for right at $1300. So I am recommending Bright Transmission over there on west side. They are honest, do the work right and don't overcharge. Give them a call....(817) 244-8200.

I took my 2007 ford F150 crew cab in to have a brake job done along with rotor machining. The owner/manager called me with some news about my truck. I told my wife when the phone rang that I bet the truck was in worse shape than we thought. No one likes a phone call from the repair shop! Anyhow to my surprise the owner told me that my brakes were fine and didn't need replacing! I was amazed because this guy could have lied like so many of the shops do. He told me that he was going to be able to machine the rotors and that everything else looked good. Instead of thinking that I'd have to spend around $500 bucks for the repairs it only cost me $110 bucks! They did the repair fast and the truck drives like a new one I kid you not! For the other reviewer that gave them a one star sorry about your vehicle. My experience was great though and I will defiantly return if I need anymore work done. The owner was very honest and for that I will recommend this shop to others! Thanks for the GREAT SERVICE!!!!!

I went to National Tire and battery on the 5th of February 2015 to purchase new tires for my trailblazer. The initial tires that I bought where too large and were placed on the truck anyway it was near closing time when I have gone but they went ahead and took my truck in and installed the tires. When I left I noticed that the tires were rubbing rather badly and I got out and checked they were rubbing on the suspension on the side wall which would have caused a blow out so I pulled back into the parking lot as TJ was leaving he had already shut down the store and close down the shop. I explain to him what was going on he was more than happy to open the shop back up pull my truck back in and replace my tires with ones that fit properly his customer service skills and work ethic are absolutely phenomenal and I am more than impressed even though there was a slight hiccup I will be more than happy to return to them and give them more of my business

I took my 1997 Q45t to this garage. My car's computer is out, so a lot of places I've taken my car to have had issues trying to diagnose the cars' problem. Somehow this mechanic found out that my mass airflow sensor was out?!?!?! I was very skeptical, but having heard about him through a friend of mine, I went ahead and had the sensor replaced. This is a job that would of cost more than my car at another more expensive shop in grapevine who said that my car needed a knock sensor, and an upper manifold gasket. Labor alone was over 300 bucks at the other place! I ended up getting my car fixed for $150 bucks... and they gave me a 30 day warranty on the new sensor. great people! They spoke English and Spanish! Its been 6 weeks since i got my car fixed and it's still running like a champ!

While traveling through Texas to visit relatives, a big 18 wheeler was rolling by when i heard a lous sound and a crack. The kids and i thought something was falling apart and was very scared from the sound, stop to get gas and check out the car that's when i discovered that a rock kicked up from the trucks tire and hit my windsheild, and almost shattered it completely out. thanks to a wonder service and quick respone from Abstract Auto Glass, me and the kids did not have to wait or wonder how we was going to get the glass repaired and still enjoy our vacation. the service was friendly, fast and befitting for a budget but most of all very knowledgable about what needed to be done. Kudos this is a company you would want to use. thanks a million stressed out mom on vacation.

Chuck's Discount Auto
On February 14, 2016 I brought one of my Dodge Charger Patrol vehicles to the body shop next-door to Chuck's Discount Auto for a repair quote. In the parking I overheard Chuck tell a lady that she didn't need work that another mechanic shop said she needed. I remember thinking "Wow that's honest." Chuck ended up quoting an AC service for the vehicle I had next-door. After I checked his pricing against other repair shops I brought the vehicle back for the service and an oil change. Since then Chuck does all of the non-warranty service and general maintenance on our 6 vehicles. The prices are more than fair and every job has been completed ahead of schedule. You can't ask for anything more!

My experience with Excel has been nothing but positive so far. All ASE certified mechanics who know their stuff. Honest, hard working, with very reasonable labor rates. I most recently had an engine replaced and they did a superb job. When I went to pick the car up there was a minor electrical problem and they worked and worked until it was resolved. It allowed me to observe their diagnostic skills and I was very impressed. If you know something about cars, and have been to more than one shop in the recent past, you will be pleased with the level of service at Excel. It's a smaller shop so you will deal directly with the owner. I recommend them without reservation.

Affordable Auto & A C Repair
On a Saturday night around 9:30 PM, Chuck Jones pulled over to aid me, as I was stopped at a red light in a troubled automobile. I was from out of town on a business trip over the weekend. He went to the shop to obtain a dolly, pulled my auto to the shop and took me back to my hotel. He stayed at teh shop repaired the auto, texted me when done and returned to the hotel at 6:00 am to take me to his shop, to pick up the auto. He went above and beyond the norm or necessary to aid a troubled individual. To boot, he didn't charge me an arm & leg. He was very reasonable in billing and gracious for the opportunity to aid a person in need.

Great experience. I know nothing about cars other than right pedal means go, left means stop. My car was trying to shake it's self to death at red lights and arrogantly refused to fully accelerate at times driving down the highway. Well after a quick visit to D&J, my car was brought back to its former self. No longer does it defy me when I press the go pedal, and the shaking is now lessened to still purr. I appreciate places like this for the peace of mind they offer. Next time my car decides to destroy a bigger part of it's self, I will definitely return to D&J.

Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
