Plain and Fancy Pet Salon
I love Plain and Fancy Pet Salon. I have been bringing my toy poodle to them since they opened, and I felt it was time to write a review! They are the best pet groomer I have found since moving to Florida. When I come in with my dog, they are welcoming, kind and I know when I leave my little toy poodle Daisy, she is well cared for. They are professional, kind, courteous and their groomers are excellent. My dog always looks so clean and well groomed when I pick her up. They also do not keep the dog for a unnecessary length of time, which helps lower the stress level of my dog, knowing she won't be there for hours and hours. I have recommended Plain and Fancy to many people, and they are all pleased with them. I highly recommend them, and I thank you "Plain and Fancy" for the care and love you show my dog when I bring her to you, you are just terrific!

Pampered Pooch
The first couple times we took our dog there it was fine. Then they got a standard poodle who bites. While picking up our dog after vacation, we saw their poodle snap twice at our dog and our dog yelped. Our dog came home with bite scabs on his back. They definitely have way too many dogs over the holidays. It seems like it s about the money and not caring about taking care of dogs. We called to tell them about his bites and were told oh I thought I saw something on his neck when he got dropped off . ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? No apology or excuse. My dog also had a green gooey discharge in both eyes for over a week after being there and we made a vet appointment but then it got better. Will NOT be going back there again. Will find a place that takes a reasonable amount of dogs.

The store is nice, good customer service, and lots of food options. I would give five stars to the obedience trainer that we had for six weeks. She was great. If you have a dog that just needs a bath and nail trim, the grooming is ok but if you have a dog that needs a brush out and trim, I would go to a professional. We had to have our labradoodle puppy redone because even after bringing him to petco twice, they did not have all the matts out. In just one hour at a professional groomer, he looked amazing and matt free. I guess you get what you pay for. Can't recommend the trainer enough, but I would avoid the groomer unless it's just a simple bath.

Shaggy To Chic Grooming
I brought our 5 month old labradoodle puppy to Shaggy to Chic for a correction after he was very poorly groomed at Petco. Both women there were very friendly and accommodating and asked me to bring him right in. The shop is clean and easy to find with plenty of parking. He looked ten times better than he did when I dropped him off. They brushed him thoroughly and got rid of the matts that Petco had missed. I appreciated the time they took to educate me on proper brushing and combing, which they did in a non-judgmental and understanding manner. We will be returning to Shaggy to Chic for our grooming from now on. Can't recommend them enough!

Academy Kennels
My family and I were vacationing in the area (Sanibel Island) and wanted to board our dog somewhere close by and we chose Academy Kennels based on their positive reviews. Our bulldog loved it! She had an indoor / outdoor run, so she could go outside whenever she needed to, they administered her daily medications, took great care of her, and did an awesome job on her bath before we picked her up. We were very pleased with the quality of care they provided for our baby and will definitely use them again if we travel back to Sanibel in the future. Really great staff.

Chez Pooch
Commenting on that low review. They do their best to groom each and every puppy dog that comes in. So with that said like with yong kids and hair cuts puppy's on their firsts few grooming aren't the easiest to to stay still. And not to mention at that time they were giving one free grooming to each puppy that was bought from that store. Which is no longer the case.

Academy Kennels
Hands down, this is the best kennel in town! 2 different dogs of mine over a span of 10+ years have stayed here and I will come back again and again. They treat the dogs with love and care and respect any "rules" you have as their owners. The staff is always friendly, a vet is close by for emergencies and place is constantly being cleaned. #iloveacademykennels

Chez Pooch
I brought my 2 100lb. Goldens in for a new doo. They treated them so good and did a wonderful job. The prices are very reasonable all around. Especially for the size my dogs are. I've been turned down by more that one groomer because of how big they are. I will defiantly keep going back.

Academy Kennels
I've been bringing my pets to Academy Kennels for just about 5 years now. I'm very satisfied with the facilities they provide for my dog. The place is indoor-outdoor so there is plenty of room for her to run around and play. Best of all they are very accommodating there.

Academy Kennels
Academy Kennels is great! My wife and I have used them for a few years now, and the staff is just great. Our dogs get very excited when we drop them off, which makes us happy. We know our dogs are in good hands when we can't be there with them.
Tips & Advices
Pets that do not get along with other animals may incur an additional fee. Some facilities have special solitary sleeping and play animals for these types of pets.
A checklist for what to bring to a pet kennel includes:
  • Vaccination records
  • A favorite toy or blanket
  • Food and feeding instructions (if the pet has dietary restrictions or is a picky eater)
  • Medication (if necessary, in its original bottle and with written instructions)
Some pet kennels have veterinarians as part of their daily staff, while others only have vets part time or on call.
Most kennels can provide basic care such as administering medications, but owners of pets with serious medical issues should choose a facility with a veterinarian on call.
Bordetella, commonly known as kennel cough, is highly contagious, and most dogs catch it at least once in their lifetimes. As such, all dogs should be vaccinated at least 7 days before boarding.
