08/17/2017Char Lee Preschool & Childcare
I had four schools on my list that I had plans to visit that day and Char Lee was my last stop. I walked in, the woman up front who I believe to be the Director Alexandra Renjifro (who didn't even bother to introduce herself) was on the phone so stood there waiting. Once she got off, she sorta just glared at me without saying much. I informed her that I was there for a tour and that I had called an hour earlier to inform that I was coming. She took me to one of the classrooms, stood halfway between the doorway and said "here's the classroom". I then asked her if I could walk in, at that point she moved aside. I stood in the front of the class, the "teacher" was sweeping the floor and barely looked up. Meanwhile, Alexandra had nothing to say. She provided no information on the classroom, curriculum, price, hours etc. We then stepped out the door and she just stood there looking at me! At that point I asked "are we done? Aren't you going to show me the play-ground?". Then she grudgingly walked me out to the area and said "here it is! This was the extent of the tour! Then she just stood there again looking at me then at that point I said thank you and head out. This was such bizarre experience. I guess she took one look at me and assumed I was some sort of hoodrat food stamps recipient; not knowing that I probably make twice as much as her yearly salary! The woman simply didn't give a rat ass. If she's the Director and the head of this facility, I can't even imagine how the rest of the staff is! I wouldn't send my child there for free let alone pay these people. I have three kids and I've tour countless facilities for them - both in palm beach and Broward area. This was by far the WORST experience I ever encountered; specially since the treatment I received from the previous 3 facilities were impeccable! Don't even bother with this place if you believe that management / staff roles are an integral part of a daycare facility.
Our son's experience at Little Palms has been absolutely wonderful and has exceeded our expectations. He started when he turned 18 months and has been attending part time for the past 8 months. We have seen great growth and development in several areas: social interaction, motor-skills, counting, letters / alphabet, sharing, problem-solving skills, etc. the staff are fantastic individuals who truly care about each child's growth and development. They are kind, thoughtful and highly engaged. I never once saw them simply sitting around and taking a break. They are always interacting with the children and helping them in their specific areas of development. We cannot recommend Smart Steps enough. It is a wonderful school that truly cares about the growth and well-being of its children.
