Fitness 19
I received a flyer in the mail, the flyer said; $9 enrollment and $9 monthly dues. I was impressed. Looking for a gym I decided to pursue this advertisement. I called the Rancho Cucamonga Fitness 19, they informed me that you must pay first, and last as well as enrollment fee's. Armed with this information, I decided to go sign up at the Fontana location. Only expecting to pay at the most $27. When I arrived I was welcomed and sat down. An employee immediately began to tell me about Fitness 19 and all the equipment and programs. I was at first hesitant. Then the employee stated that I must pay an additional $49. I stayed quiet, he explained in order for me to '' lock in'' my $9 per month I had to pay the $49 once. I went along with it. After adding up the first and last month payments of $18 they also tacked on the initial enrollment of $9 and also the $49 ''lock in'' fee. My total came up to $76, a far cry from the advertised $9 enrollment. The employee also stated that in April I will also have to pay an additional $19, to pay for equipment maintenance. Still hesitant I was drawn in and decided to pay for the membership. I returned home and began to add up everything. after my calculations 24 hour fitness offered a lower monthly rate.At this point in time it was no less than an hour after I had signed up and paid for the membership. So I tried to call and cancel. My phone calls were left unanswered and my messages were not honored. Being that I live close I decided to return and cancel in person. When I returned, i was greeted by a different employee. He had asked me what I wanted to do and I said i wanted to cancel. I was set off to the side while the employee finished up some paper work with other customers. When he finally began to help me I was barraged by question after question why I wanted to cancel. when I told him that the extra $49 to lock in my rate made me cancel he seemed astonished. Then the employee went on an said that he can eliminate the lock in fee and everything would remain the same. I felt tricked though externally my emotions remained calm, I was furious inside. I continued, saying I only want my money back and I'll be on my way. the employee wrote down my information and said I should be receiving a call. So I respectfully left and awaited a phone call. That phone call came 2 1/2 hours later. The person behind the phone call claims to be the manager, he goes on about all the programs and things that fitness 19 has to offer, it was simply an effort to try and save me. I was not interested. I felt as though I was lied to and can be easily lied to again. We end the phone call, I was told to come in and get my refund. I arrived back at the office and entered. Once again I was greeted and sat down. Respectfully I asked for my refund and the manager went on to explaining everything. I was once again barraged by questions, it felt as though I was being ''double teamed'', one employee staring at me a couple desks over, and the manager interrogating me. Still respectful I began to demand my money. I came back with purpose to get my money back, and to leave. I didn't want to go back to Fitness 19. So the manager takes my debit card and he and the other employee go to the back of the office. It felt as though they were ''talking crap'' behind closed doors. I can hear faint giggles and talk as they return. The manager comes back and hands me a receipt voiding the sale, and apologizes. I respectfully say thank you and left. I come home and go on my online bank statement and show no sign of any return. I have yet to see my $76...
