Barry's Performance
I left feeling very confident in my vehicle and well informed! After the "Check Engine" light appeared on my trailblazer, I had called several establishments. Barry's was referred to me by Ed's tires. A diagnostic costs $35, but is waived if the repairs exceed the $35 charge. There are shops that will charge a ridiculous amount for the diagnostic alone in addition to repairs and parts, etc. The mechanic, Chris, who worked on my vehicle also took the time to explain the code and it's function. Mine was an EVAP code that basically was triggered by running the engine while the gas cap was loose. Simple enough. Then he showed me how he ensured that everything was functioning correctly with the Emissions from the fuel by the stability of the pressure readings and the release process. I actually got to see for myself! This all took minutes. Then we address another issue that I had not originally come to shop, but figured that I'd have it looked at. Chris took his time to find out what was wrong with my horn (Which as quoted from other shops is a VERY EXPENSIVE repair). Chris discovered and fixed what was wrong with my horn all the while explaining what he was doing and why he was doing it and only charged me a small fraction of what it would have cost me at another shop. For the most part, Chris was very knowledgeable of his Craft and yet humble, not to mention the Integrity I witnessed from him. He would look up or ask questions in resolution of something he was unsure of or just didn't know. It was refreshing to me because he never left me uninformed. As a cherry on top of a well iced cake, he even fixed a very minor cosmetic issue at no cost to me. I will go back for my automotive needs and I would encourage others to check out Barry's Performance as well!

Prestige Automotive Service
I looked all over town for a shop who would do an alignment on my '56 Chevy and most either looked at me lost or turned me away but a few local hot rod guys told me about Prestige and said M L (owner) was the man to speak to. I called him and told him what I needed and what was done to the car. He knew exactly what he was talking about and scheduled me for 0800 the next morning. He's not the chattiest guy on the planet but you can tell he's been around the block a few times and knows what he's doing. The shop is a small mom and pops looking business but they have the proper equipment and tools and it's very clean and organized. The technicians were focused and getting customers taken care of quickly. I felt comfortable leaving my classic hot rod there and told him I'd be back before they closed. Around 5pm, I came back and picked up my car and it was perfect! I had a completely new aftermarket suspension and steering from classic performance products (CPP) and he had that thing lined up perfectly and only charged me $65. Most places wanted that or more for an easy newer car, much less a heavily modified 61 year old classic that takes much more time and effort. I drove it home and she's straight as an arrow now. I'm very thankful to have crossed paths with Prestige and I will be returning if I ever need automotive assistance again!

Wilson Off Road
I took my 02 Chevy Tahoe with 6" lift and worn out 35" tires into Wilson Offroad for a front end inspection prior to putting new tires on it. Keith warned me up front what all could be wrong so there wouldn't be any surprises that afternoon-tie rods, pitman arm, steering link, UCA's...the list goes on. The truck had a lot of play in the front end, felt loose and the wheels wobbled over bumps. I went back that afternoon to pick it up only to be told it was a couple loose bolts and everything had plenty of wear left on it! I was so happy to hear that and thought what a standup company this is! Most shops would tell you that you need this and that just to get money out of you...Not Wilson-They are stand up guys with an honest mechanic! He told me I just needed new tires and that would fix most of my drive issues.I also ended up getting new wheels and tires from them as they gave me the best deal-just as good as what I could find on the internet! These guys are great and know there stuff! Thanks again Wilson and crew!

Wilson Off Road
I discovered Wilson Off Road about seven years ago. I was impressed by every aspect of the new business. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and always provide me with options when available. I feel involved in the decisions made about the work done on my vehicle. Unlike other shops I have used over the 25 years I have been a vehicle owner, at Wilson Off Road, I never leave the shop equiped with something I didn’t need or the feeling that I was duped and overcharged. An honest shop is hard to find. Most everyone knows this. That’s why Angie’s list was created. Mr. Wilson’s knowledgeable and proffessional staff have actually saved me money several times. Everyone at Wilson Off Road is very hospitable and makes a customer feel at home there. The business has grown from a hometown business to one that people come from out of state to use. I can see why. I will never go anywhere else with my 4x4 vehicles. Wilson Off Road is the best. Hands down!

Wilson Off Road
I've been to other off road shops up and down the east coast and this one by far is the best off road shop I've been to. The guys there at Wilson Off Road are on top of it. Shawn (the guy up front) helped me pick the best stuff I could possible get for what I wanted to spend, not what they wanted me to spend. The mechanic are top notch I've had no issues with the stuff they installed on my jeep even after several years and multiple trips to Uwharrie. When I wanted to install the products I got, they even schooled me on a few issues I may run into to help me install it. I call these guys every time my jeep breaks down ( even if i want to fix it, they help me out. I highly recommend Wilson Off Road to anyone not just the 4wheel drives out there. This is the kind of shop i would drive across the state to get to. They do it right the first time every time.

Nathan's Auto Repair Inc
I don't TRUST any other mechanic with my vehicles...Nathan's Auto Repair is a gem of a business! They don't do transmissions or wheel alignments; all the rest...they are the best. I never go back to the dealership after purchasing a vehicle; Nathan is the only doctor my vehicle knows (if they could truly know). I have been going to Nathan for 23 years! I recommend him highly. He will not cheat you nor will he talk down or over your head. He will discuss your vehicle with you when you go to pick it it. AND, the receptionist, Hilly, is the best receptionist I have ever encountered in my adult life! She is extremely busy everyday but she maintains the most cheerful attitude at all times! But, I have never heard while in the shop or by ear anyone say anything bad about Nathan's Auto. BEST AUTO REPAIR BUSINESS OF ALL TIMES!

Nathan's Auto Repair Inc
Nathan is one of the few true mechanics still standing. He can diagnose problems almost by ear. I had a 1962 VW that sat in a driveway for 10 years and he had it up and running in a day! I have sent many people his way and none was disappointed. A great family run business with a fantastic, quality, service. These are knowledgeable and experienced people who can repair any car or honestly advise you where to take your problem (like transmissions). Auto repair places are known to cheat folks so if you find a trustworthy and honest mechanic for all your needs, it is a blessing. Nathan's Auto is the place! Ask anyone who has ever been a customer there and they will tell you. It's a darn good idea to have an appointment because people who use Nathan's do not go elsewhere - ever.

Nationwide Transmission
Talk about great service!! I researched Better Business Bureau (BBB) for repairs and found Nationwide Transmission. I made an appointment online and 10 minutes later, after store hours might I add, I received a phone call from the owner! I explained my situation and he went above and beyond to retrieve my vehicle. His transmission diagnostic test pinpointed where we needed to go. He does nothing without the consent of the customer after his FREE test. My money situation was the hold up on having my vehichle repaired and Blake explained he would do everything he could to help and that he did!! My car was fixed in no time and I cannot say enough how much I appreciated the great service! Thank you would be an understatement!

Wilson Off Road
From start to finish, my experience with Wilson Off Road was nothing short of excellent. All the guys that I met that work there are great and straightforward, and they do quality work at a fair price. They also make it a point of not trying to sell you anything that you don't want or aren't completely happy with, a business practice i very much respect and don't see enough of these days. They installed a BDS 6" suspension lift kit, 35" tires and 17" rims in a day and a half, and the owner even stayed around a while after regular business hours so I could come pick up my truck in the evening after work. Honestly, I can't see myself going to any other shop but Wilson Off Road in the future. You guys are the greatest!
Tips & Advices
Yes, most roadside assistance coverage plans offer towing services. There might be certain restrictions, however. For example, the plan may only cover towing services for a certain number of miles. Drivers should check with their providers for details.
Which cars are covered depends on the roadside assistance provider. AAA services are available to members and not specific to any vehicle. As long as members pays their dues and have their membership card on hand, they can use AAA for someone else's car. Generally, auto insurance plans cover the car itself, not the driver, so people can't use their roadside assistance for another. However, details vary between providers, plans and local laws. Drivers should consult with their insurance providers to see whose cars are covered.
Roadside assistance coverage varies depending on the provider. However, they generally include:
  • Tire change
  • Battery jump start
  • Towing services
  • Locksmith service
  • Minimal mechanical labor
  • Delivery of oil, fuel, batteries or other parts
If a driver has a flat tire and no spare, roadside assistance services can deliver a new one. However, these services will not pay for the cost of the tire. That will be the driver's responsibility. Based on the location, some will tow a car to a tire dealer.
Most roadside assistance plans offer gas delivery and service. However, clients are generally responsible for the cost of the gas.
