Craig Hatfield DDS
I'd like to start off by saying this office rocks. He is a great doctor and always puts my family's interest at heart. Dr. Hatfield is about as charming and caring of a person you can get, and southern personality is outstanding. He is quick to get you in, and actually treat you and not just get you in for the exams and x rays and send you to somewhere else.I have moved my entire family to Dr. Hatfields office as his care is unparalled. He has my highest recomendation and always will. I would however, like to comment on the few people below. I too had blue cross insurance. I asked why he quit taking it, and he told me straight up, they don't pay enough. There is ABSOLUTELY no fraud and for some bitter person to accuse him of that is just childish!!!!! He said, they make him write off 1/2 of the costs of treatment, and that forces him to use cheaper materials, and he simply doesn't like to use junk. I confirmed this with my own research looking for dental materials online is hard, but you can find them. And he is right, he will show you what he uses, and its expensive compared to whats out there. Blue cross has a federal version that I personally have seen a dentist bill out 150 dollars for a cleaning and they only pay 10-15 dollars, and makes the dental office write off 140 dollars! How can a dental office pay their staff with 10 dollars, use common sense here! To bash him for calling you sweetie and honey is ridiculous! He is from the south, and that is common there! Obviously you have never been around someone that has southern hospitality. To Dr. Hatfield: Never change, you have a wonderful personality, do WONDERFUL work, and deserve all the success that has come your way. Don't mind these jealous distasteful people, you keep you doing exactly what your doing, as everytime I am there, i hear at least one patient always bragging on you. You pulled my tooth, without any pain, and i have had many pulled by others. Thank you for all you do doc. We do love you.

Hello, This is the so called "Idiot Office Manager" for Dr. Craig Hatfield DDS Inc. I came across this review forum and really likes all the positive feedback that we have from our patients. Im also appalled at the behavior of the people below who feel the need to bash a dental office for just trying to run a business. We are not the only office in WV, let alone the country, that uses Missed/Cancellation fee's. It is implemented for all patients not matter the reason so that we can continue to operate the practice whether YOU decide to show up or not. Anyone can give an excuse of "I was sick" or "I was out of town", but we treat every patient the same across the board, minus a few exceptions of course. We have gotten different excuses for missing appts and then we have obtained info about them stating they were not sick or so forth. We like to keep it strictly neutral with all of our patients and try to be as fair as possible. If someone brings a dr's slip in stating they were deathly sick, we would have had no problem waiving the fee. We pride ourselves in helping patients out who are in need and simply cant afford treatment. We do several FREE DENTAL days, offer numerous discounts for Seniors, Students, New Patients and so forth. To say that we do not CARE, is a slap in the face and quite frankly, a cowardly thing to do. We encourage anyone who has an issue to come in and bring it to our attention and I will personally take care of it in a professional manner, not via the internet. Dr Hatfield is indeed a southern boy, born and raised in southern WV. If you have a problem, come in and let him know. It will most likely become resolved, you will get a handshake and everyone can move on with their lives.

I have been going to Dr. Hatfield since 2012. My boyfriend and mother in law now go to him as well. After reading some of these comments, I felt the need to share my experience. I have constant health issues and type 1 brittle Diabetes which cause bone loss and tooth decay. The office has seen me through a huge surgery and massive issues with my teeth. I went from having dental insurance to none when I had to stop working full time and he has always tried to help me as I pay out of pocket. I had a possible dental related angioedema on a Saturday night and he responded immediately to my email. I won't let anyone else touch my teeth because they are a mess and he knows that I get infections easily. I find that people who are offended by his fun nature must have zero sense of humor. I am glad he is himself and that is important to me. I really doubt he would be flirting as his wife is almost always present. I say good bye to all of those prude and good luck.

Tips & Advices
  • If a tooth decays and the nerves or pulp (soft internal tissue which helps teeth develop) become inflamed or infected
  • If a tooth is cracked or broken and nerves are exposed
This generally depends on any specific issues you wish to address with your teeth. There are toothpastes designed to whiten teeth, fight cavities, decrease sensitivity, prevent bad breath, resist gingivitis, and those specific to children (with lower fluoride content). There are also toothpastes that offer “complete” protection by combining aspects of many of the above toothpastes.
It’s recommended to get a professional cleaning at least two times per year.
  • Desensitizing toothpaste numbs the nerves in the teeth that can cause discomfort.
  • Mouth guard can protect against grinding teeth during sleep.
  • Fluoride treatment can be applied by dentists to sensitive areas to numb teeth and strengthen enamel.
  • Root canal can treat problems in a tooth’s core.
  • Surgical gum graft where a piece of gum tissue is removed from a section of the mouth to cover an exposed root.
Not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth removed, but there are certain signs that can help you and your doctor determine if yours should be:
  • Wisdom teeth are pushing other teeth around, causing pain and misalignment
  • Cysts form around newly emerged wisdom teeth, causing jaw damage
  • Gums get inflamed and swollen, causing cavities and pain
  • Doctor determine from x-rays that wisdom teeth will cause problems in the near future
