1.Pete Miller's Steakhouse

I can only speak to the Pete Miller's in Wheeling...\r \r Food is fantastic! Highly recommend their horseradish encrusted fillet mignon or fantastic pork chop with apple chutney. Best pork chop and fillet I have ever had. Simply put, Pete Miller's does a fantastic job with beef and pork; however, not so much with fish. Fish at Pete's is average, at best.\r \r This is a great place to bring a date due to the nice intimate surroundings. Even when completely packed and with a live Jazz band playing, you can hold a conversation without having to shout. I am continuously talking this place up with co-workers who are looking to have a special diner with their special someone.\r \r Fantastic and extremely knowledgeable wait staff; though some, as noted in other reviews, can be a bit pretentious. However, this does not overshadow the dining experience.\r \r Pete's has yet to disappoint! Oh yes - they make a great Manhattan too!\r \r Average dinner price per person: $20 - $45\r

Even after moving out of Chicago, we often talked about how great CrossRhodes was. Not only is it cheap, but more importantly, the food is awesome. Can't go wrong with the charburger (with feta), the gyros plate (a ton of food) or the veggies salad (topped with feta and fries). We always make a point of eating here when we are in town.

I generally like chili's. but, the burgers were more expensive than wolfgang pucks! also, the bartender didnt know what a scotch was; she clearly had just been hired for her looks. she did know about the food though, and was helpful when i told her i was a steak guy. also, they have sound on for sports in the bar, which was a plus for me, but some business woman left because it was too loud for her.

I visited Bluestone on a recent Saturday night, we arrived around 7 pm. After we were seated we were left breathless as we were the only couple without little kids running around our table. When we left an hour later the place was still packed with young families - which was quite suprising for late on a Saturday night. The service was good, the food was ok. Nothing special on the menu, food is slighltly overpriced. Wine is affordable at $25-35 for a decent bottle.

Tonight I tried the restaurant, and I have to say as the pizza was quite nice (thin crust and nice ingredients) the service was quite lousy. I had had some friend?s feedback about the service at Union, but tonight I could experience myself. I arrived around 8:30pm and there was a waiting list of 8 people but there was 10 empty tables but the hostess did not have the ability to sit people on time, so decide to sit at the bar, but just to order the drink took 10 minutes, and to get the menu another 10?\r \r As I was leaving decide to express my disappointment with the service with the ?partner-manager? and her feedback to me was that ?as I could see the restaurant was full?? . It seems like quality of the service is not one of their priorities.\r \r I would stay away form the place? for the price there are other nicer pizza places in Evanston.\r

For a college kid on a budget, Dave's is ideal. The portions are so large you can get at least 2 full meals out of one pasta dish! The new location provided more seating, better lighting and big booths for groups. It is good classic Italian cooking, what else could you desire?

Flatbreads and sandwiches are leaning toward the ""smaller"" side considering the price that you're paying. They do have creative flavors, fast service, and good variety. It's bustling with students during meal times and has a relaxed ambiance. Unfortunately, they aren't always 100% careful with your special orders, so make sure you emphasize ""NO CHEESE"" (for example) more than once.

I love the ribs here. Their salads are excellent. Their BBQ sauce is quite excellent. They evoke the very best ribs I've had throughout the years. If I were to choose one ribs place to recommend, this would be it.

The atmosphere is casual, and one feels very much at ease here. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and yet unpretentious. The food is amazing. I've been here several times. Not having had much previous experience with Indian cuisine in the past, I have come to love it, and all because of Mount Everest. When having lunch here, most people I know don't even look at a menu, but go straight to the buffet. It is an amazing value and of course absolutely delicious!

Came into today for the first time.I was told that their fries were rated top in citysearch last year after not believing that the food was as good as the woman behind the counter claimed. Boy was I wrong. I loved their fries. I only had a hot dog so I can't really comment, except they made the hot dog just like I wanted, with ketchup. Wonderful fries, great customer service. I will be back It has the ""where everybody knows your name"" feel.

Giordano's is actually the second stuffed pizza I had when I moved to Chicago, but it's the first place I think of when I want stuffed pizza. Some consider Giordano's a chain, and it is, but so what? It offers consistent quality, good sauce, good crust, good cheese and good toppings. If you haven't had stuffed pizza, what are you waiting for? Odds are a Giordano's location is close to you. Well, if you live in Chicago anyway. A friend in California misses Giordano's like nothing else in the city and we always go there when he comes to visit. This applies to stuffed pizza only. Their thin crust is the same awful Chicago-style thin crust you find everywhere. \r \r The Evanston Giordano's (and possibly others) also offers a great lunch special: soup or salad, pop and a baby pizza. They make the pizzas in advance, so they don't take the typical 30+ minutes. It's a lot of food, not a lot of time and the price is reasonable. \r \r If you haven't been to Giordano's before, I recommend going (but only for the stuffed pizza). If you have, then you know what I'm talking about and will be heading back.

Try the whole menu! Not in one sitting though, what I meant is this is one of those places where you keep going back to try something new and different on the menu each time. I love Southern cooking, so whenever I have a hankering for it, this is the place I go, and I have a hankering for it every time I am in Evanston. Both the starters and entrees are good, I've worked my way through almost half of the choices on the lunch menu, and about a quarter of the dinner menu. Everything tastes just as good as if I were in the kitchen of my friend's moms down south. If you are a fan of fish, then this place will please. Most of the dishes I have tried are fish dishes. The salmon pasta is great, the trout pecan has been my favorite dish and the shrimp creole was the best okra has ever tasted. Definitely try the green fried tomatoes and peach glazed wings, both starters and sure to please everyone at the table. The restaurant itself is pretty neat, kids will love it and if you are stuck in the middle of an awkward date there is plenty on the walls to start a conversation over. Its kind of done up as one of those side of the road bait shacks with signs and kitsch up all over the walls-- plenty to keep you laughing. The service is always great, very southern and attentive. Brunch is busy, but whenever I stop by during the lunch hour or early dinner hour, there are plenty of tables ready and I get seated immediately. Even though the university is a couple blocks away, it is never overrun with students. I definitely recommend this place, never had a bad meal or bad service.

Gosh, I think my heading says it all. You know, I rarely go to chain restaurants these days, I remembered why on my recent visit here. I recall on my visit previous to my last that it took my waiter 10 minutes AFTER I was seated to acknowledge me only to say, ""I'll be right with you..."". Needless to say, I was disguested on how they expected me to wait for another...who knows when just to order food. So, I just got up and left and proceeded to talk to the manager on the way out who, obviously, argued back by saying they were busy...NOT!!! Seriously, I got there AFTER the lunch rush when the place was practically empty. Fast forward to my last visit and low and behold, NOTHING'S CHANGED!!! Although I did get to drink some water this time around while I waited another 10 minutes, the waitress proceeded to act like they were on a food shortage and out of EVERYTHING (ok, 3 items on their menu, but 3 tiems that they were out of too many). So, noting that I was starving at this point, I had to settle for a basic spaghetti n meat sauce dish...which tasted like it was thawed from the freezer and microwaved. To make things worse, the final bill contained several items that I obviously did not order (an appitizer here, glass of wine there...) Once again, angry on my way out I confronted whoever was in charge that day and...yup, it was the SAME MANAGER. Obviously she didn't remember me from our last encounter, and gave me the same lame excuse and did nothing to compensate. I had enough of this poor management so I took the liberty of writing to the District Manager on how sloppy things are at this location. Whether they read it or not is up to them. So, I guess I'm done eating at this chain Italian restaurant. I'd stick to the locals; at least they change their menus and are professionals.
