Discount Plumbing
it is nearly impossible to find a good plumber in humboldt who doesn't charge exorbitantly. discount plumbing appears to be the exception. bob, the owner, is personable and very knowledgeable. he understood my ongoing problems and knew how to resolve them. i own a large residential complex from the 70s which had originally been plumbed with cheaper pipes, and later on bad repairs led to pinhole leaks. this has been a nightmare of ongoing problems, at great cost over the years. bob has found and fixed the problems, and is very willing to explain and show my maintenance person the right way to deal with the problems. his prices are very reasonable, and he has even given me a few tips on how to save $ on taxes by using ADA compliant faucets and toilets. bob has not charged me for all of the good advice and instruction he has given. i feel he just has my best interest at heart.

Small Town Heating & Air
Two weeks ago, I was trying to bring my husband home from the hospital through Hospice but wanted to get my heater fixed first. I was only able to reach one company to come that Monday. They said my heater was shot & it would be $1200.00 to replace it.My husband died w/o making it home so the heater went on the back burner until this Wednesday, when I called Small Town Heating. They were here the next day.I would recommend this company to anyone who has a heating issue. Their tech Bobby came early, which was wonderful. He was very professional & fixed my heater in 30 minutes for under $100.00.The other company knew my situation & were still willing to take advantage of a woman who was losing her husband, which I find disgusting. Small Town Heating is #1 & I will tell anyone who will listen about them. Thank you for proving there are still honest companies out there, and thank you for not making a difficult situation even harder. God bless you . . Sincerely, Joan Sanders

Small Town Heating & Air
Incredibly good! Since they fixed my gas fireplace in just minutes, I called them to fix my furnace. It had been repaired multiplef times by another firm, so he read their invoice notes, got the part overnight (!!), installed it in minutes and also discovered why it had been constantly cycling, and fixed THAT as well... he saved me thousands of dollars and lots of distress. He's a genius!

NO JOB TO SMALL is exactly right for this plumber. Bob was able to fix my leaky faucets in record time, and even gone before the hubby got home!! The water company may not be so happy, but I sure am! Thanks Bob and Discount Plumbing

Discount Plumbing
Many complications beyond his control, and what turned out to be an all day job and quoted price was charged. He did an outstanding job and I would definitely recommend calling him when you need a plumber.

Tips & Advices
The following tools and common household objects can be used to clean drains at home:
  • A plunger
  • A drain snake
  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Grease-fighting dish soap
Homeowners can mix boiling water with any of the last three products to break up grease and grime.
The main ingredients in clog removal liquid products are sodium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite. According to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, both break down into relatively harmless components when it comes into contact with water or soil. However, both substances cause mild irritation to skin and internal tissues.
Also known as a drain auger, a drain snake is a coiled device around ¼-inch thick. To use a drain snake, put the end into the entrance of the drain. Turn the handle to force the snake deeper, using extra pressure to force it through the bend in the pipe. Keep turning until the snake hits the clog, then either pull the snake and remove the obstruction or force it through. Once the snake is out of the drain, run the water on full blast for a few minutes to ensure the obstruction is completely removed.
Plungers don't damage residential pipes, but the force created by the act of plunging weakens the seal between the toilet and the floor.
Many plumbers, both local businesses and nationwide chains, offer emergency or same-day services.
