My property management company hired CIDC in Jan 2016 to get gutters cleaned on all their properties. I remember looking out my sliding glass door thinking it was weird that they weren't being more careful about having gunk blow onto the windows and sliding door and then thinking it was rude of them to leave without cleaning that stuff off. After they left I also noticed that my car, which I had just had washed, had gutter junk all over it (see photo).When I saw my property manager I mentioned it to her and she said something to the effect of, "This was the first time we've used them but I'm never hiring them again! They promised to cover cars with tarps but we've gotten so many complaints similar to yours."Later I tried calling CIDC and explained what happened. He acted as if that wasn't possible but said he would come by soon. Today is March 26th, almost 2 months since the guy said he would stop by and no word from him.

We hired Dan to install our fence posts and build our fence gates. He was very helpful through the whole process and communicated very well. He went over-and-above to make sure we were getting the finished product we were looking for. He had a very busy schedule, but always found time to squeeze us in between other pre-scheduled jobs, which we greatly appreciated! Dan offered advise as we needed it and was overall great to work with!

Never returns calls. Doesn't show to the work. As a Californian, I can tell you this is what to expect of the Oregon worker. I have resorted to home advisor. Twice the price, but they deliver.

If there is ever a dispute regarding payment over the course of the project, a contractor or subcontractor could place a payment claim, or lien, on your property. To avoid this, ask the contractor to sign a lien release, which is a legal agreement that states that any payment accepted is final. This can come in handy if a contractor has his or her own payment issues with their subcontractors. Signing a lien release form certifies that any payment made by a client to the contractor is enough to pay for any goods or services rendered.
Absolutely ask. Paying too much up front offers the homeowner minimal leverage if the quality of work does not meet expectations or contractual specifications. Try to establish a reasonable pay schedule, such as paying 10 percent of the total cost for each 10 percent of the work that is completed. Include this payment plan in the contract, as well.
Before any money changes hands, there should be a contract to sign. Make sure the specifics of the work and all costs are listed in the contract, including details. If you forget to have something included in the contract after signing it, there's rarely a chance of recourse.
Ask the contractor for proof of their certification before signing anything, as well as their proof of insurance. You should also check your homeowners insurance policy to see if they offer coverage for contracted work. You may want to call your insurance provider and ask for more details on what your plan will and won't cover.
